  1. It works now, but my "hand" doesn't turn into a pointing finger yet. Just the name of the cache appears and I can click on the cache.
  2. Ah, it works zoomed way out so that all the caches are green boxes, but once I zoom in to where you see smilies, it's no go.
  3. I'm having the exact same problem with my Firefox and Windows XP.
  4. Ordered mine! p.s. - the Lake Pend Oreille coin photo was taken from GCG946
  5. My 9 year old son just set a cache, Up At Darling, 16 miles up a Forest Service road with a 2 mile hike into a mountain lake (and of course I was with him) and I wouldn't ever consider logging it as a "Find."
  6. It's a bit different where I am from - the terrain rating is usually too high. People seem to think that a 50 yard hike on a trail merits a 3-1/2.
  7. How'd you do that? You must have super-special-ultra-god access to the forums or something. Probably changed the font style of the"g". That works in a lot of forums.
  8. Can this be voted the silliest thread ever? p.s. - Groundspeak.
  9. (disregard the duplicate thread - the site had a hiccup)
  10. Anyone have the scoop? http://www.idahogeocachers.org/
  11. Great work! Can't wait for you to get over here to Idaho.
  12. That doesn't make much sense. How will someone know if there is an underlying reason that a cache in a certain area has been archived? Usually the archived cache will have a reason why it was archived.
  13. From a cache page, there is only a small area of my user name in the upper right that I can click on to go to my profile page. On my profile page, my entire user name is clickable.
  14. Not a big deal, but my avatar is forced into a "square" on the home page. It's squished.
  15. My son's latest cache was approved this morning - took about an hour.
  16. Patience is right. I have a Geocache, Gem & Estelle, that I'm not sure will ever be found. I actually have my doubts. Too many easier, quicker caches abound, which are fine caches in their own right, and some of these mountainous ones off trail are just not something that the average geocacher would do. Add in a few dangers such as grizzlies and talus slopes and cliffs and it dwindles down to a select few. I'm interested in how long mine will take to be found - it's going on 2 years now. So look at it as a tribute to your cache placement that most pass it by, and not an indication of cachers in general.
  17. I too was wondering when this particular thread was going to start. When I heard the name of the coin, saw the cherry icon, and saw the back of the coin, It quickly "clicked" in my mind and I understood what the whole coin was "about". To say that the shapes on the back of the coin had nothing to do with the underlying theme of the coin is just laughable. Do I think it's "obscene?" No. Would I buy one? No.
  18. See...that is what I will never get. How is a long, long hike supposed to make a cache better? It's a personal thing. I was a hiker long before Terracaching came about. A long hike to a cache is just a better experience for me. It may be a worse cache for others who don't like the "long" part. Like I said, I enjoy being out with my boy and the look on his face when he finds a cache along a roadway, and I enjoy the "pot at the end of the rainbow", if you will, with Terracaching (in my area at least). JMHO.
  19. That's even funnier. You can even find some in this thread... lol Again, I enjoy both and get tired of the bashing from both sides. Lets just cache.
  20. You get a some people over there who left this site for one reason or another. Some were banned from here and some just had issues with the way things are run here. So you will see some animosity, but most of the snot flies this way. The people who are happy here generally don't bear any ill will to the other sites. A lot of us just see them as essentially useless. I am a premium member of both sites. I disagree with essentially useless comment, as well as the "snot" comment - I've seen just as much going the other way. Terracaches in my area (Apparently NJ is a different story - try some up here in Northern Idaho) tend to be where 99% of the Geocachers will never go. I do both for different reasons - my boy & I geocache because most of them are pretty "easy". I Terracache because most of them are 8-16 mile round trips with 1/4-1/2 mile elevation gain. I certainly agree. 99% of geocachers will NEVER go to northern Idaho. Now that right there was funny. Of course you know what I meant though.

  22. I too cache with an 8 year old boy... lol I have a bag full of goodies that I take with me. Sometimes the goodies from the cache end up in there, but usually not.
  23. That one probably isn't listed on another site. So it would be ok to go pick up the geotrash? I don't see why not. It's "irresponsible" to leave an archived cache out there in the wilderness, right? You'd probably need a big crane though.
