  1. I posted about 2008 a couple months ago. It's been released already. Here's my post: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=166414&hl= Heck it even says MAY 2007 and garmin's website says APRIL 2007 hah. Mine is newer
  2. Have you checked out Buy.com? I don't know if they send to Canada, but they have great deals on MicroSD cards every so often. I have a couple of 1gb cards and just bought a 2gb card, for under $20 US after rebate. You guys might be surprised by amazon.com too, there are stores on amazon.com that sells 1 gig microsd for as little as $7... total shipped $15.00 depending. I've bought a few Kingston retail package 1 gig microSD (i have one of these): http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-...7907&sr=8-2 $6.29
  3. Another Pro for the MicroSD... it's not locked. You buy it, you stick it in your GPSr. Get a new unit? Stick it in and it works, get another unit? stick it in and it works, that unit sucks? Get another one, and stick it in! No need to mess with unlock codes and making routes/transferring maps. If you have an auto routing GPSr, I'd go for the MicroSD.
  4. Oh no, no, I didnt pay full retail for the 60csx, was just making an example, that something at $500 should have more than basemap. I got mine on eBay for $350.00 total and it was the newest one (had latest firmware). I did pick one up at SPorts Chalet too at full retail just to test it out before I ordered mine and it was old, and a returned unit, there were batteries installed, missing belt clip, finger prints on screen. Made sure they had a no questions asked return policy. Also he probably was not joking.
  5. Yeah, Magellan eXplorist 500LE = $199 retail expandble memory, color screen, and compass.
  6. Sorry you think I am but whatever, just wanted to tell you guys what I got since a lot of you are looking forward to it. I started caching a couple weeks ago and just bought a handheld for it and was pretty pissed off that it only has a basemap for the price of the gps. Retail $500 for the 60csx when my streetpilot c530 I bought last year was only $300 and has City Nav NT v7. So went looking to buy v8 but got v2008 and was just sharing my excitement.
  7. I'm not a premium member yet, but i read that you can run a Pocket Query, and have the results emailed you in 1 file, then u can open that up in GSAK and send it to your gps/pda
  8. I got it from erwincomp.com You have to check the descriptions though... The one I bought for MicroSD in the descriptions says it is v8. and $105 + shipping. The North American City Navigator NT DVD that's listed from them doesn't say any versions and it's $101 So I can not guarantee if you order you'll get v2008 like me.
  9. So I was trying to buy City Navigator v8 for my Garmin 60csx. I've been reading on the new forums about people asking when City Navigator v9 is coming out. People have been saying around August and it will now be called City Navigator v2008. Well I ordered (what I thought) City Navigator v8 MicroSD from erwincomp.com and just received it in the mail today. On the packaging there is a sticker that says "City Nav N. America NT 2008" I loaded the MicroSD card in my 60csx, went to the map and looked through it. They all say something like this (except for the city that changes the rest is the same) "Iowa, City Navigator North America NT 2008, May 2007" "Southwest California, City Navigator North America NT 2008, May 2007" etc..etc..etc.. Is this really the new "v9"?? Looks like all these maps are new May 2007. What do you guys think? I'm pretty excited. Here are some pictures:
  10. Microsoft's Virtual Earth 3D is Browser only.
  11. Nope. Several ways. Plug in your C330 Go to garmin.com and click on "my garmin" set it up if you haven't then click on Geocaching. type in zipcode, search and check all the geocaches and click on send to GPS. click MORE then check mark more caches, and send to gps. keep doing it. They will be listed as a "favorites" on the c330, when you're viewing the map you will see the Treasure Box indicating caches. Another way, plug in c330, go to geocaching.com find a cache you want and click on "send to gps" make sure you d/l the garmin web browser plug in. Again will show up as a favorites.
  12. I had to reread your post and double check the dates and make sure this wasn't an old thread that was brought back to life. Why did it take you almost a year to try and update your GPS? I'd have to say it's your lost.
  13. On a 60csx, what additional info can we see from the .gpx files being a Premium member? Since the .loc files shows the GC code/title/coordinates. No way to see the Info/Hints. What would be the advantage of downloading .gpx files to GSAK then to the GPS? (I just bought a 60CSX, but not a Premium member yet, checking out my options first)
  14. Basemap is ridiculous. I have a Garmin StreetPilot C530 With City Naviagator built in and a GPSMap 60csx that has US Basemap. (Didn't know it only has Basemap for the price the 60csx costs). I agree it is completely useless. Only Freeways/Interstates/Highways and large major roads. That's it. Routing is impossible. I just ordered City Nav v8 on MicroSD so I can use it for my 60csx.
  15. I have a Garmin C530 (auto gps) And just started geocaching a week ago. It does support POIs and Locations and when driving around you can see them on the map. Since it is an AUTO GPS, it will only mark your location on roads. So it's a bit hard when trying to find a cache that's not near a street. You just have to drive close to it, and zoom into the map and see where it is and go hunting I'm now looking for a handheld "outdoor" GPS for my geocaching activities.
