  1. A "occupied" urn. No, we're not dumping it. the "occupied" opening is on the top side, the bottom side (as oriented in the pic) is a compartment for putting in personal effects. I whipped out the phone and took a pic before trying to stop laughing and explain it to the individual handling it. It was at GZ in a hollowed out log. Authorities seemed to care leass and it took a couple weeks before the CO disabled it, so all parties must have known it was there.
  2. We get ours Educational Innovations.
  3. Hate to say this and I know I will be flamed, however if it is this much of a problem maybe this caches time has come. I know when I found it I was very surprised it was still there as it is very close to several houses. When it is re-enabled, there will be a influx of seekers again.
  4. GDAK if you think your cell service will be spotty. C:GEO or the Geocaching official app if you think service will be an issue, however both do have the ability for offline lists as well.
  5. I find it humorous that people think there are cachers that do not know each other looking at other peoples "souvenirs" and are upset that some one gets a icon buried on they're page somewhere that they did not "earn". I am fairly certain that if all the cachers in the world got together for an event that believe this is an issue, it wouldn't be an issue holding it inside a crowded Waffle House.
  6. Not a loophole, that is the way it is intended to work with MoCs, hence the reason they rush to fix it when it breaks. As to the OP, it really does not affect anyone except those of us dealing with OCD that want our numbers (and subsequent souvenirs) to be accurate at all cost.
  7. Nothing. You are no longer involved. Let the system work as intended and move on. As far as your concerned, this is no longer an issue.
  8. How on earth would this be useful geocaching?
  9. Premium members nor PMO are elitist, however PMO caches amount to little more than security theater.
  10. SEE-toe Never heard anyone use anything else.
  11. What can I do when reviewers in my country (Netherlands) ignore this and I have travelbugs in tb prisons? For one thing, reviewers are not Travel Bug police. They can't do anything about bugs already in caches. It would be a full time job for 50+ people! They can ask a CO to remove any wording from the cache page that requires a one for one trade. They can't keep policing pages that are edited after approval, but a private message to the reviewer might help. Nicely worded, don't hound them, they are busy and they are volunteers. What you can do is ask the community to rescue your TBs by posting a note on the TB page, the cache page, and in your regional forums, or local cache group Facebook page. When you release a TB, it's like sending a message in a bottle. You have no control over what happens to it once released. Maybe it will float along peacefully, maybe it will be caught in a storm, maybe it will be tossed up onto a rock forever. The fun is in watching what happens. If your trackable hasn't moved in a long time, post a note to the cache page asking the next dinner to please confirm if it's there or not. You can edit the post to change the date, if it drops of the page. Check out the pinned thread at the to of this Forum, on what we should know about TBs. Good luck! So I sent an e-email and I got answers back from a Netherlands reviewer. 1. A demand for travel bugs is not seen as a logging requirement; 2. It is allowed (in the Netherlands) to have requirements about the inventory of a cache. That is: inventory in a generic way, no exception for travel bugs or different from goodies; 3. If reviewers in other countries see it differently it is up to them. This reviewer does not know about guidelins so in the Netherlands the reviewers have their own rules (about this). All I can tell you is that differences in the reviewing process between North America and Europe have been brought up in the past, and this is just another example. I can also tell you that my reviewer in the Northeastern U.S. would NEVER publish a travel bug prison. They can come here and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say they'd use the "no Additional Loggging requirements clause" as justification. Maybe your Dutch reviewer just needs to spend a little time in their top secret reviewer only sub-forum here? I hate TB prisons and even have a bookmark of them in my general area. Having said this, simply putting the "take 1, leave 1" does not really constitute an ALR unless the CO adds something to the affect "or your logs will be deleted" or actually deletes someones log for it. Otherwise, they should be viewed as a "suggestion", as mis-guided as it is, and either followed or ignored as I do. Based on this, I guess I would take issue with a reviewer not publishing based on a "suggestion" which are still OK within the guidelines.
  12. So per the guideline, no harm, no foul. Having both is OK.
  13. It would be better to ask the mod directly. I can't speculate on why they would say that.
  14. No, he's using C:GEO. To answer the other question, no IOS does not have a similar app, it is only available for smartphones.
  15. Thanks all. It seemed whatever I saw had more steps, however this looks like it will do the trick.
  16. Pocket Query can get a gpx file. Get a reader to read cache description - eg. GSAK or with text reader eg notepad Log via 'Backdoor' eg GSAK or Geocaching admin. You used to be able to log by clicking on the icon on the map with 'Log Visit' as it goes straight to the log. I am not looking for how to log, I am looking for how to ignore without showing up in the audit log. Someone posted it recently, I just can't find the message or thread.
  17. Some posted in one of these threads how to ignore a PM cache without showing up in the audit logs. I thought it was in this thread, but can't find it here or with the search. Anyone point me in right direction or know how to do it any way other than the phone app?
  18. This seems somewhat odd. Why would someone delete a NM, NA or DNF?
  19. OMG. I just watched and Comcast did not allow fast forward on this one. Now I have a sudden urge for a Pinot and a Midol. This show is actually popular?
  20. I have more than 6 finds and own a few. While I don't always understand why someone writes a TFTC, the cache is there for other to find not for my reading pleasure. The latter is just a bonus. Heck, there are a few cachers near us who do not log at all. It does not appear you are doing anything wrong, if anything, you are probably doing more right than the majority of us and not stealing by any stretch of the imagination. The percentage of actual cachers here in the forums is so small as to be insignificant, so don't give to much weight to what we say here. Every geographic area has their own "flavor" how they do things. You'll pick that up over time however I can't think based on what you have said you will need to adjust much. Cache on.
  21. To be clear, it has been shown many times here and on other sources that it does not violate the ToU. The claim generally comes from someone not familiar with apps and/or how data scraping works. A search will also turn up the original authors explanation of why the issues exist with GS over this app and the current authors have also made it clear if you edo a search. So you're welcome to wear the "freeloader" badge proudly, just realize it does not apply in this particular case. I am a PM and own and use the "official" app, however the other has a few features not yet implemented in the GS app that are useful so I do use the other as well when needed. Having said that, this is GS sandbox and they have made it clear in the past that they would prefer that it not be discussed here (although they do allow it), so I will drop this by responding to the OP that if it is the other app you have question with, you would be better served seeking out that apps support on Facebook or elsewhere. I do find it ironic and amusing when someone takes the misplaced moral high ground, they use the moniker from a fictional TV show about escaped fugitives working outside the law.
  22. Ummm....no, not really. The app, it is generally the first that pops up in the Play store on Android, is neither "unethical" or "abusing the game". Before you jump on it, I am a PM with a paid version of the official app and use both apps regularly.
  23. I wouldn't be so quick to tak jpreto to task. From the description you posted here, it would appear the CO of the cache designed it simply to inflate find counts.
