  1. I cann't believe there are 50 plus posts complaining about something that has no value to anyone except another geo cacher.
  2. I had this happen to my Garmin Legend last week while on vacation. I fixed my problem by doing a master reset. I found this info on garmin's website not in the manual. 1. With the poweroff, press and hold FIND, PAGE and CLICK STICK buttons and then press the POWER button. 2. Release all buttons and after 5-10 sec the welcome screen is displayed. 3. Place the unit outside in a clear view of the satellites. 4. After a few minutes the unit will accure the satellites and be ready for navagation. 5. You will lose any stored data, so you should save your waypoints and tracklog before you begin. I hope this helps.
  3. I have had my Garmin Legend for over 2 yrs. and it has over 16,000 miles on the odometer.
  4. I also own the Legend. It works great in the open. I sometimes lose sat reception in deep canyons. I use Mapsource to put maps into the legend but I use Oziexplorer with USGS DRG TOPO maps to edit tracks and way points for hikes and then transfer the waypoints to my gps. I also have a pocket pc with a compact flash GPSr. It works great put it is not as durable as the Garmin. There is a lot of different software options available for the PC but Mapsource is the only thing that will actually load maps to the Garmin.
  5. I enjoy reading the log book the most, but I like to collect refridge magnets so I do exchange for them. My kids exchange toys when they are along. (I got a real nice ceramic magnet the other day).
  6. I started when my wife gave me a GPSr and I had to find a use for it. Now, I Geocache and Benchmark to visit locations that I have never been to before. I have enough stuff already, so I don't need anything. I do enjoy reading the log books.
  7. etrex Legend. I didn't do any research, I just pointed at one in the display case. I now have all the accessories for etrex so I don't want to change brands. I might get a GPSr for my pocketPC, any suggestions? -BrianF
  8. I have to many hobbies and interests to describe me with one name. I decided to stick with my own first name. I know it's boring but hey, at least I can remember it. BrianF
  9. I got mine last year to mark locations of broken drain tile and large rocks in my fields. I only discovered geocaching and benchmarks this Spring. I have also used it to navigate our nations highways. My Legend has over 9,000 miles recorded on it. The best part is it is Tax deductable as a business expense. -BrianF
