  1. Personally, I think you're mad. You'd never find me doing that. However, you obviously think it's a good idea and as long as you think he weather isn't going to be a problem for the small people then go for it.
  2. That's got it Thanks to you both
  3. It's just happening in the emulator at the moment as I'm still building it. I have just noticed that when i move the player closer then the location appears.
  4. I've nearly finished my new cartridge but I've come across a bit of a snag. When all tasks are completed in each zone I deactivate them and make them invisible. At the same time I make the next zone active and visible. It has worked every time but for some reason it hasn't for one particular zone as it just says 'Nowhere to go' in the locations area. Suggestions please......... Paul
  5. I know people like that....I won't name names but you know who you are. Me and smurf would love to go camping events all over but most of the events tend to occur in festival season so our money tend to go into them. We are thinking of planning a camping event since we live on a campsite/caravan park.
  6. On the rare occasions that we go away (properly, not for an event) we run a PQ for the area. Caching is an option when we're away not a reason to go (unless it's an event)
  7. Not knowing what type of GPS you have I can't say for sure but I do know Garmin put their office locations into their devices so if you have a Garmin it's probably that
  8. Laptops for paperless??? Nah. PDAs are much better and can be pocketed while hunting round GZ. My laptop is far too expensive to be lugged around the woods.
  9. I don't see a problem with it. It should, in theory, add to both your find counts. I it doesn't then that's life.
  10. if it was me would have unofficially adopted it by putting it on my watch list and maintained it as if it was my own. However, you cannot clear the needs maintanence without owning it so put a needs archived on it and place a new one in the spirit of the original owner.
  11. I'd have to echo the other replies with regard to the bugs....you need to make sure that they are free to travel so filling your cache may not be the best idea. If they do stay put for a bit just move them on snd always have a look at the mission. I refuse to wait til the FTF log appears because if I'm ready to log then I shouldn't have to wait. I just state that I'm not FTF but just FTL.
  12. If it's a good trail then I'd do it. You will probably get people leaving caches along the trail if there's room cos that's what cachers are like. Find an area and fill it.
  13. Sounds like a good idea. Although, like most cachers, I would want to complete all the alternatives. I've also been experimenting with Wherigo and will probably incorporate CYOA ino a future one.
  14. My process involves running a weekly PQ of everything I havent found within 10 miles and loading it into my PDA. Then I'll look at them on the geocaching google map, decide on an area to go to then go. When I get there I look at the nearest caches on my list to see if I can get a route out of them and set off. I look at cache info when I'm within 100ft and if there's something like a cliff mentioned in the description or logs then I give it a miss.
  15. Actually the total records will be double your FTF count as you get one record for dropping and a separate one for retrieving. Hate to be a pedant. Well, I don't really. I prefer using GSAK stats macro to record my FTFs oand other stuff. oops...just saw the logs for your coin.....aside from having to discount the discover logs....how do you get it to jut dip in without being retrieved???

  17. Have a look at a cacher called Bob Adams. He set himself a challenge to get 1 cache a day for a year.....he's still going after over 400 days.
  18. fantstic.....i love reading logs like that even though I'd nevr do what you did...hehe
  19. It's reverse monkey theory. 10,000 monkeys banging on 10,000 typwriters will eventually crank out the works of shakespear. One monkey banging on one keyboard enough times is bound to get something right. An inspired theory. I hope one day it works fo me...hehe
  20. Hello there This has pobably been done before but I'd love to know the craziest thing you've done to get a cache or atend an event. Mine will seem pretty tame when you guys get going but I went from Bradford, West Yorkshire to Caldicot, Monmouthshire to attend an event for 3 hours. My alarm went off at 04:30, I was on the road for 06:00. I got back last night at 11:30. 450 mile round trip and 9 hours in total on the road. Paul
  21. I see that you ae a premiuim member. Have you got your notifications set up to email you when a new cache is published??? if so then you just have to figure out how to beat your local FTF hounds which , from my own experience, is incredibly difficult. You also have to watch out for people that give coords to their friends before publication. I disagree with this unless they are purely beta testing.
  22. I'm not entirely sure but I think that you put them in after submitting it to the reviewers
  23. That's pretty bizzare behavior. It's rather unusual how someone can peruse all of your finds and hides, check out where you have been, what events you have been to, go through all of your forum posts, and travel bug movements, and look at all of the pictures posted in your gallery, but if you log the incorrect date on a find, a new forum thread opens where the entire caching community is asked how or why you did it, instead of a polite e-mail.. I see your point and would wholeheartedly agree except that it's such an unusual situation that even I would be compelled to post in the forum and mine the depths of other cachers minds just to see what bizzare explanations they come up with. BTW I'd say a TARDIS is the most efficient way to do it
  24. I think it's quite clear that the low quality of swaps is due to the fact that people take them and leave lower quality swaps or worse, without replacing them. This in turn makes hiders put lower quality swaps in the new hides. I've got to the point where I don't bother taking anything unless I see a bug with a mission I can help with and won't leave anything unless it's a bug. I just go for the experience, sign the log and log online. I'll leave the swaps to the kids.
