  1. Great info! I'm doing the same thing, however instead of the pda, I use the cellphone to look up the cache info via the internet. I have the Explorist 210. The only problem I have now, is that I'm noticing the unit occasionally locking up on me...
  2. Once you go to google maps and look at the area, how do you get back to the list of caches? I hate downloading each cache one at a time...
  3. Ooohhh. that's exactly what I needed! I hate printing out the pages because I'm too lazy, and I like to just hit a cache when I'm in the area. I have them all dloaded to the GPSr with no hints. Now, I can use my phone if I need to to get the description and hint if needed...as well as log the find... Thanks for the info!
  4. I took mine on Southwest 2 weeks ago down to phoenix. No problems going there or coming back. They did mention on one flight that GPS units were NOT allowed to be turned on during the flight. I believe the guidelines in the magazines also mentioned the same thing. You won't get much of a signal anyways unless you're right next to a window.
  5. Copy protection error? I used nero for Topo US so I could get the program onto the tablet pc... I recall the last CD being copy protected, but nero was able to create a proper image. The other program I was using would create img files that were corrupted...
  6. Yup, we absolutly love ours. We wouldn't have gone with anything else, except maybe a 500 ('cause it's color). Happy caching! There was only one store in my hometown that sold it and they had one available. I recently went to AZ, and stopped by the Bass Pro Shop in Mesa, they had loads of them on the shelves. Picked up one with the outdoor bundle for cheap... They have them available on their website, but not for sale anymore...
  7. I went with the 210 and the outdoor bundle (topo USA map) for $159 plus tax. For the price... couldn't be beat. I just need to to find caches...If I decide I want something better later...then I can purchase a new unit without feeling bad...
  8. x2.. I've been using Lite to manage the caches as well as work with the Topos.... Is there any benefit to using the software that came with the topo map?
  9. I don't know the answer to your question...but I've experienced similar problems. It almost seems as if Lite is a much more robust and compatible program than what comes with the topo maps...
  10. I picked up the outdoor bundle at Bass Pro Shops...it only cost $159 plus tax for the unit and the topo software... That's the best way to do it... Check ebay or online for "Mapsend Topo USA"....I've also seen it for download while searching...don't know if it was legit or not...
  11. My buddy and I just put one together last week. We were bored one day, and thought we'd give it a try... helpparisrun.blogspot.com
