  1. My website has moved to www.ltsniper.com where you can download the plugin. Im still trying to get the old site to redirect to my new one.
  2. I remember once reading that common LCD displays shouldnt be put into freezing condidtions as they would distroy the liquid in the display. It appears now that a couple of yellow etrex's may have been improperly stored for the winter months at a summer camp I was working at. Is it likely that they will survive the winter? They would have been stored inside a building and wouldnt have come into contact with snow or water directly (I hope). The area the camp was in was about 2 hours out of NY and near the cat skill mountains.
  3. I’ll be able to grab the TB if it comes thru Brisbane. Alex aka Lt. Sniper Queensland, Australia
  4. Is putting this thread in here going to get noticed by the people who can acctually make the changes or should I email Groundspeak directly about it?
  5. Thats one of the main reasons for asking, for use with a cell phone. You can search for cache IDs thru the Geocaching.com WAP site but you cant search for thr cache's name. If the Cache ID could be included in the subject line then that would be even better.
  6. I would have thought that the new notify email system would include the cache ID (eg. GCABCD) along with the cache name. Is it possible if it can be added so it shows up in email notifications. Example:
  7. When applying for a job at a summer camp in the US (im from Australia) I took my GPS into the interview with me and explained Geocaching to the camp directors, they loved the idea and hired me on the spot. I have developed a program to run at the summer camp and am currently putting it into place. I originally tested my ideas with my local scout group and it showed me what worked and what didnt work when getting kids to use a GPS and in the activity it self. The camp has bought a few e-trex units and bundle of Silva compass's. Ill keep you posted on how it goes. Alex aka Lt. Sniper Queensland, Australia Currently based in Catskill Mountains, NY
  8. Is anyone intrested??? email with a contact number if so and I will get back to you ASAP Alex aka Lt. Sniper
  9. PM me thru my GC profile http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Lt.+Sniper or email me @ lt_sniper@hotmail.com Yep, I will be in the Catskills area until the end of August.
  10. Grrr... that’s what you get for not speeel checking, "with any Aussie" and I forgot to put in there NY city if it wasn’t already apparent.
  11. G'day guys, I have the whole day in NY City on Thursday, the 16th of June free to go caching. Is anyone interested in caching with me, a young Aussie? Im still a little weary of caching by myself and to me this is a new city/country which makes it worse Im staying near "Rockefeller Center" apparently. I know this is kinda short notice but please get back to me if you can spare me some time, Cheers, Alex aka Lt. 12. Generally the most important things for me while caching here in Queensland, Australia are good boots and a wide brimmed hat. goretex isn’t always all its cracked up to be so don’t just go on the assumption that any goretex shoes will do. Obviously there’s a lot more that you need to think about but the above items are mostly overlooked by cachers here in my opinion. As for snakes, well here in Australia theres nothing much you can do, gaiters may help a little but thats the best you could hope for.
  13. Bumpty Bump Bump! Theres a few more things I have in mind to include, so stay tuned.
  14. 'Thread Bump' for my self so I dont forget to update whats happening!
  15. I am looking into that, it seems it adds some text to the search query and stuffs it up.
  16. I try to bump this thread when ever I can :-) tholt4, it doesnt even use cookies or any spyware garbage like that. You can look at the source file in the Firefox/searchplugin/ directory if you think there is a problem. The only thing I can think of is most of the times when Firefox starts up it checks for updates to the plugins and since checking for the version takes a bit of time to connect to my server, the default 'Google' one replaces it as the active search. Just click on the G for the 'Google' search and the list should appear, reselect the 'Geocaching Quick Search' one.
  17. No, I meant use the Palm Pilot as the guideance screen, the Roadmate is simply acting as a 'GPS mouse' by outputting NMEA data. There are a few Palm programs out there that will give you GPSr like functionality. It doesnt matter anyway, the Roadmate is USB, not Serial.
  18. Does a Roadmate provide serial out? If it does then you could use it as a NMEA source and hook it up with a cheap 2nd hand palm pilot and off you go!
