Anybody else notice that a bunch of new people are thought of as ignorant because they disagree with the entire 'creed' licensing issue? Is this what you meant to say?
-
How about 'Dr. Frankenstein was evil because he created the monster who was an unnatural entity stitched-together from the limbs of disinterred corpses and forced into a grim parody of life by a massive electrical charge, who lashed out in his confusion and rage and killed a bunch of people'? Back to the thread, already in progress... Anybody else notice that a bunch of new people are ignorant because they disagree with the entire 'creed' licensing issue? Well that last sentence is a nice inflamitory statement, and insulting to "new people" to boot.

I'm pretty much thinkin that seeing as PVC is made to carry water in transit, the glue that is made for it specifically, if used by following the directions, would seal it so it does not leak. This type glue kind of "welds" the PVC pieces together, so other type glues will not work as well.

Go for it! Start 20! I think we need a new one asking what's the best GPS to buy. ooo.....ooo.....I think we need another on the secret Geocache handshake/signal

Ran Into Fellow Cachers?

I know if I ran into Mopar, I would keep running.... -
Your not giving anything away....this type hide has been discussed before. My advise it to go to a store where they sell PVC pipe, and you will see many end caps, different sized pipes, and specific glues for this kind of project.

I opened Cheers out of panic, not boredom, does that count?

If you are going to post in the open forums, you better get a thick skin. YOU asked the questions, others replied. I saw nothing rude in their replies to you. IF you think they are bad, stick around, and you will find just how mild they were.

Good to know...since neither Ed or Groundspeak had made any progress since Dec 9th, the rest of us can all only go on what we have available to us. Give us a break.... How do you know there has not been any progress made? Are you privy to the dialog exchanges between Buxleys and Groundspeak? And just who are "the rest of us"? Please speak for yourself. I don't find it necessary to know every little miniscule day to day goings on of TPTB...from questioning their finances, knowing who all the mods/reviewers are, or to demanding resolution of this particular problem. No one here, no matter what level of membership has that right. Its a business, and as such they have the right to make their own decisions without consulting everyone on these forums. Just my opinion.

Rocking the boat again RK? or should I say Rocking the Kayak The only thing I can see this experiment bringing about is while the regular posters stop posting, YES, others might post more. BUT, then when the time limit is lifted there will be twice as many regular posters. I think I'll pass, thanks.

Ditto ! We have two caches that are in mountain lion territory, this would be helpful.

Sorry about your lose... Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

"do The Mods Intimidate The Posters?"
woof n lulu replied to sept1c_tank's topic in General geocaching topics
Nah....not intimidated by the Mods......although when I post something borderline, that I know someone will be tapdancing on the report button for, I have a vision of the mod reaching through my monitor and grabbing me by the throat. That is thanks to a certain regular who posts that cartoon whenever suitable..... -

No you are not amiss. I will refrain and retire from posting here, but only because of the negative and harsh post above yours. It seems offering condolences for the lose of two well liked people is off limits here.....how sad. -

Is telling someone to "please don't air your view about that here" helping then? Like I said.......this is an OPEN forum. While I appreciate the gravity of losing two well liked reviewer/moderators, there are many facets to this saga.....some known and most unknown. All around it is sad for the GLOBAL GEOCACHING COMMUNITY, and trying to seperate everything down to different factions within this global community does a diservice to everyone. lulu -

Excuse me, but this is an open forum and anyone may post here. Just as people from this forum have posted elsewhere. There is no invisible wall between this forum, and all the Geocaching community forums. They may be crossed at will, and views, even tho different from your own, may be posted. Thank you for your time lulu -
You're confusing civil rights with civil liberties. Civil liberties are protections from the power of governments. Examples include freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and trial by jury. These are usually created and protected by a constitution. - Wikipedia I don't think Groundspeak is a government entity. (edit: grammar) I am not confusing the two at all. No entity can deny anyone any of the rights known as the bill of rights. There is no real difference between the two, civil rights or civil liberties, Although civil liberties are more inclusive. A good lawyer can make any case for anything. Again glad I could help and I am sure it was an over site on your part . Private entities can basically deny speech all they want. If I wasn't tired I would give a bigger lecture on it than I am about to, but I AM tired. So here is the short version: The US Constitution appiles to government. In some instances with protected classes (not speech, which is not a class but is an action), it applies to discrimation against certain classes in public accomodations such as restaurants (e.g. can't discriminate based on race). That is different than speech. With speech look at it this way: A City owns a street. If people want to politically protest on that street and the City (government) stops them, they can sue. But if they start ringing doorbells on private property to spout their views, the property owner does not have to listen. The owner is free to shut the door in the protestor's face. That is the nice thing about speech. You can make GOVERNMENT allow you to speak, but you can't make private property owners listen to it or publish it. The upshot is that non-government owned internet forums can do the same as a private property owner. They can tell you that they don't want to hear it. There is no legal Constitutional protection there. Sorry, but one of my pet peeves that I see constantly on the internet is when people don't understand the difference between Constitutional free speech and private speech. Many confuse the two. One is Constitutionally protected. The other has no protection. You can dislike it, but that doesn't give Constitutional protection. But more important, this is game. Go caching, have fun. That is what this should be about. Standard disclaimer: I am not providing legal services or legal advice and am solely expressing a personal legal opinion. Oh the joy of law! Thank you Carleen, you put it in such a way that a non enquiring mind like mine understood it perfectly.....
-
Oh I have an enquiring mind.........but I can see where one thread is a trainwreck coming, and another of the same subject has not degenerated into name calling and slinging insults....thats the difference. Plus the fact that there are known pot stirrers, and when they start posting to one thread, the degree of closer rises sharply.
-
Might help explain........I hardly think there is any explaining to do.....the man owns this site and if he or his representatives want to close a subject, then that is the end of it. For everyone on the positive side there is going to be someone on the negative, ........I dont know why some people have a hard time dealing with this, and think that explanations are due them, as nothing will appease them in the long run. In controversial threads it is a given that the thread may end at any time.....
-
and you point is?

I for one have seen a few threads that jeremy has posted to get closed......maybe you have just missed them.....
