  1. Just open the macro and a few lines down is a very obvious line that you can change to show them anyway you want!
  2. Hehehe, bless their little cotton socks!
  3. Read this thread to find out why you can only see around 50 (hint: they are all on the garmin....try spelling one)
  4. This is looking great now. Congrats!! Will put my requests in here: 1) I think there should be a box for export folder...I received requests when doing the other macro for this, hard coding the export folder may not suit everyone 2) Yes, in the advance mode having different alert distances for certain caches could certainly have a great appeal. 3) Perhaps I'm missing something but my mp3 file always comes in at 1kb? Should there not be a ding wav/mp3 here? or are you just using the default on the garmin? 4) IF the dat file doesn't exist (ie first time user or upgrader) have a box pop up to remind/inform them of the POIloader requirement (ie to have it run once manually) 5) Perhaps move the init subroutine up towards the top to make is easier for people to edit the $waypointname variables? Keep going!!
  5. Oh boy, how did I miss that? Great find! I'm excited now....must go and check this out.. *EDIT Nope, still broken. On a 7xx, set up alerts just like all the other nuvis, travel until a prox alert goes off. Whilst the alert is still on the screen, select WHERE TO and select ANY new destination (not a cache) as soon as you say go, the Nuvi will switch off. More emails to garmin needed gents if you have a Nuvi 7xx.
  6. This has great potential, great job. Having a few problems though at the moment: I set it up to for a Nuvi 7xx, hint at very end, alerts at 1500m and nothing else selected. This was the output in the gpx file: <wpt lat='53.372817' lon='-6.186483'> <ele>0.00</ele> <time>2008-05-01T00:00:00Z</time> <name>StAnnesArboret/Tra/N/GC10C37*</name> <cmt></cmt> <desc><br><br>**DESCRIPTION CUT**<br><br><font color=#008000>****<br>Hint: [Look for] 3 mature trees [at the] edge [of the] arboretum. Low.<br>****</font><br><br></desc> <link href="futurefeature.jpg"/> <sym>Information</sym> <extensions> <gpxx:WaypointExtension> <gpxx:Proximity>1500</gpxx:Proximity> <gpxx:DisplayMode>SymbolAndName</gpxx:DisplayMode> <gpxx:Address> <gpxx:PostalCode> N53° 22.369,W6° 11.189 Tra/Mic/FFFF/Tb:Y, (D:1/T:1.5) St Anne's - Arboretum by Bootle, Pl:14/01/2007, LF:31/05/2008</gpxx:PostalCode> </gpxx:Address> </gpxx:WaypointExtension> </extensions> </wpt> There was no Description or logs, only the hint ? - I'll have to take a look at your code unless you can think of anything off hand? Also, here's some ideas off the top of the head. 1) Prox distance - Why set a pre-defined limit/choice? Why not just have a text box here for the user? 2) Create Unfound Alert - perhaps "Create Alerts for unfound caches?" or similar? 3) Display hints should have: Before Logs, Very End, None. (Some nuvis are very slow at scrolling and it is a real pain in the a** having to scroll all the way down 30 pages just to get to the end of the logs, having "Before logs" helps in this process. Also that code is still in the macro I think.) 4) Need some error checking on the POILoader directory - I had this problem this morning. A bit of a pain in the backside too. 5) I really like setting the prox distance inside the gpx file, that's a nice touch. There's so much in common with these macros that we should probably get together on this to have a "super" maco for advance and beginners, I'll get in contact with you via email..
  7. jjreds, You may be better to include the sox file as a binary encode in the macro, so that the end user doesn't have to manually do this themselves. I've just done that today with my macro, so feel free to use anything that's useful. << oops just seen you've been doing that with other files! Sorry! However I did use version 12.17.7 for sox, as that was apparantly used in a previous version of POILoader and that worked.>>
  8. Proceed as normal to create the gpx file using the "friends" database in GSAK. Upload this to the Garmin using POILOADER, and set any alerts as normal. Now, goto the Garmin unit in explorer, and look in \GARMIN\POI Rename the poi.gpi file to friendshouse.gpi Repeat for the next database. As many GPI files as you want can be used.
  9. You have to use the POILoader MANUAL function when uploading them, that's where you set your distance - but once uploaded, you can't change it on the fly. Read the Extra tips page again on my website, I think most 2xx users ignored/missed this part. I've got all the angles covered.
  10. Updated Macro Released, v1.3 New/fixed features. Nuvi 2xx series should now support TourGuide Alerts! When script finishes, it automatically starts POILoader for you! New user? Goto my website and just start from the beginning. http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com Upgrader? Just goto the download page and download the new script. REPLACE the old one with this one. That's it. http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com/downloads.html Warning It is imperative that you ensure you only have 1 version of POILoader installed on your machine, the script will check to see if it can find any installations in the default directories of: (ROOT):\Garmin and (ROOT):\Program Files\garmin If it finds 2 installations the script will stop until you sort it out and remove one. You must only have POILOADER v2.5.2 installed because the script CANNOT determine what version it is calling, and if you have an old version installed you may not get anything to work properly. Version 2.5.2 is always available from my website http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com/downloads.html Finally - as I haven't been able to test this on a 2xx feedback is needed!
  11. Sorry my friends. It's 1am here and I'm off to bed. Good news is that this will be a quick update when I get a chance probably some time tomorrow. (the instructions are out there in the wild if you want to do it manually, the script will only be offering a automatic way of doing things!)
  12. Hehehe, just saw this. Looks like you 2xx boys are in for a treat in a while...
  13. Thanks very much, if anyone else wants to listen to the show it's at: POPCACHER MP3 at the review starts at time: 14:07 If you want to let the guys know what you think of geocaching for the Nuvi, give them an shout at http://www.podcacher.com/?page_id=8
  14. If you do find a cache that is locking up/crashing the Nuvi, let us know, we can then see why it's doing that and improve the macro
  15. Nuvi 2xx do not support my (or any) custom MP3 "ding" file when sending the GPX file to the unit using POILoader. I have read (but not verified) that the Nuvi 2xx does NOT support a tourguide file (because it cannot support mp3s) so you are NOT able to use the Tourguide feature with your Nuvi 2xx. The Tourguide feature is NOT the same as an alert feature (even though you use the alert feature of POILoader when sending the info to the Garmin). A tourguide alert will alert you whenever any cache is within a circle determined by you, the centre of which is based on your current location. A normal proximity alert will only work on the Nuvi 2xx if the cache is on the same road as you currently are on , or is on the same road as you are being routed through. If the cache is even say 50m off road from where you are going you won;t get an alert (all figures estimates). You may of course still use the manual procedure in POILOADER to set your alert distance, but the Tourguide feature will not work. Normal alerts will - but probably aren't much use.
  16. Would I have left it in the tutorial if it was fixed?
  17. 1) Upgrade your nuvi firmware. 2) Make sure you use version 2.5.2 of POILoader 3) Are you using version 1.2 of my new macro or are you using an old one? (The new macro has it's own button in GSAK and it's own screen) I would be surprised if the 610 needed a different file format to say the 660, which has been tested extensively and is known to work.
  18. I appreciate the others in his thread doing these support questions. Looks like I need to do a FAQ page soon on the website!
  19. The last post in this thread will be a good starting point: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=190042 Thanks
  20. No it's a Garmin problem with the firmware for the Nuvi 7xx. The more people who complain the faster it might be solved.
  21. Updated Macro Released, v1.2 Very small bug fix to my script. Hawaiian Ninja sent me a PQ which would not verify when running in POILoader. Yet again it was down to an unacceptable character in one of the fields. This time it was a "<" and a ">" left on the page which shows up beside the GO button (for Nuvi 2/6/7). This page/text is now checked for those characters and they will be removed if found giving you a proper GPX file. If you discover a PQ that does not work, please let me know (and send it to me) as this only took 5 mins to fix. I recommend everyone update to prevent this catching you out at some time in the future. New/fix features. Replace < or > from the plain-description page to insure validity in POILOADER. How to upgrade/install New user? Goto my website and just start from the beginning. http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com Upgrader? Just goto the download page and download the new script. REPLACE the old one with this one. That's it. http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com/downloads.html
  22. Really? I manage at least 2-4 on my 760 and almost 5 on the 360. I do try to use them carefully (lower the brightness, retract the antenna when not in use etc etc), perhaps that might help.
  23. After some good fortune, a relative of mine lent me a Nuvi 660 and so the final part of my testing is complete! Taken from the website: I have personally tested this Macro with the following units and all display/act as intended. Nuvi 250 Nuvi 250W Nuvi 360 Nuvi 660 Nuvi 760 As far as i can recall, all units had up-to-date firmware and all used POILoader 2.5.2. Updated Macro Released, v1.1 Just releasing a small update to my script to fix a couple of items. This will probably be the last one for a while, unless it introduces a major bug. Fingers crossed. New/fix features. Nuvi 6xx series confirmed working as designed. Nuvi 2xx Wide Screen option added for Nuvi models. Nuvi 2xx & 2xxWide series can now take over 11,000 characters!! New option on form to allow you to switch hint location easily. Advanced Users: Ability to change max number of logs added to the cache info. Ability to edit the waypoint name easily - instead of multiple places as before. All advanced features need the ability of editing the macro, if you don't know what that means...don't try! How to upgrade/install New user? Goto my website and just start from the beginning. http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com Upgrader? Just goto the download page and download the new script. REPLACE the old one with this one. That's it. http://pilotsnipes.googlepages.com/downloads.html
