  1. You don't need a compass for Geocaching. If you get into hiking off trail then I would say get a GPS with a compass but if you hike the paths no need for a compass. I would say get what you want if money doesn't matter get the best. For fun get a cheap GPS
  2. Well its been a while and I would like to start finding those caches again . So I've got a few questions. 1) How do I download all the way points into my Garmin 60CS 2) How do I download all the information and waypoint into my Palm as well. I took a big break from Geocaching lets say three or more years I'm looking to get out there again. Thank for all your support.
  3. Does anybody know what the latest software updates are for the 60cs?
  4. Getfeetwet.com has fixed everything and more here is there reply. Thank you Getfeetwet.com you have just earned a return customer. We were made aware of the problem by a couple of our friends at that forum. Like I indicated to our friends, it unfortunate that we have not been monitoring the forum since we do get a lot of business from the group and we should be monitoring it so we can at least find out what the group needs. We did register 24 hours ago a login, so at least it is a start. First things first, I need to make sure this matter is taken cared of. Normally it is either a Cap or a Shirt but I will send you a CAP and the Garmin T-Shirt. I will even send you 2 T-Shirts to make up for time loss. All I ask from you is to post our reply so things will be in right perspective. Again, NO excuses here. We messed up and we have to fix it. How can you beat that they just made me happy. Do I recommend Getfeetwet.com you bet you can't beat there prices either check them out they have all you GPS needs and more .

Excellent time on deliervy and they have all your needs for Geocaching and then some. Do I recomend Getfeetwet.com you bet . Buy Getfeetwet.com you can't beat the prices.
  6. I can only tell you my experience. I will not buy from them again. I am posting this information so you to can determine if you want to buy form them. If there not willing to send out there free gift as they stated they would and I think 5 months is long enough then there world means nothing. So think twice before you buy GetFeetWet.com I wonder if this is good advertising for them. I will give them a call for the third time and post there answer.
  7. Purchased my 60cs about 4 maybe 5 months ago Getfeetwet.com was giving away a free shirt or free hat. I have called them twice once about 4 months ago and the second time about 2 months ago both time the same guy said its on its way. Now that its been at least 5 months now I still haven't gotten my shirt or hat. It's the principle. The only reason I picked them over GPS City was for the free extended warrenty and the free gift. But what good are they if Getfeetwet.com won't stand up to there offers. Don't buy from GetFeetWet. I will keep bashing them tell they send me my free gift. Honor you promotions GetFeetWet. Or maybe I should call the BBB.
  8. The Vista is an excellent unit you can't go wrong with that choice at all. I think I like it better than the 60cs. I can say both units have there strong points. Go with the Vista and you will be happy
  9. Thanks for the advise I've got it set at 10mph and 5 seconds if I should have it set at 20 please explain why this would help. Thanks for the support.
  10. With a new unit design by Garmin I hope its nothing serious how ever if it is. Let us know what Garmin is doing to support the defect. There are alot of us 60 owners out there now and I hope Garmin is going to step up and fix the problem.
  11. I noticed my USB connection is very tight as well. I hope I don't have the problems that you having but with time IM sure I will. Keep us posted on what Garmin is going to do for you to fix this problem. I hope there willing to step up to the plate and replace the units if they find that they are defective in regards to the USB connection. Good Luck
  12. I ordered me one. I will also compare it to Garmins when it comes out.
  13. For any of you out there that have owned both the 60cs and Vista do you feel the Vista out performs the 60cs using a compass. I feel the Vista is all around better unit. When it come to the compass the Vista does a better job. Why would Garmin design a unit that you have to hold vertical for best performance meaning the 60cs for sats and if you want to use the compass you have to hold it horizontal. Make sure you hold it real steady and I mean real steady for it to work and by doing so you no longer have a unit that will perform at its optimum performance because of the way your holding the unit. Is this a Garmin screw up? Don't get me wrong the 60cs does do alot of thing the the Vista doesn't do how ever My feeling a hand held unit is more for geocaching and Im sure thats what most of us on this forum are using are unit for. Please educate me on this matter. This is what I have experienced
  14. I don't see how you can use a compass geocahcing using a 60cs. For optimum performance you need to hold the unit vertical for your sats. For optimum performance with the compass you have to hold the unit horizontal now isn't this a screw up. My feelings if you want a Garmin that works great with a built in compass by the VISTA. I think it out performs the 60cs. The best thing you can do using a 60cs is bring a seperate compass. If anybody can educate me on this please do. This is what I have experienced using and owning both units.

  16. Now that I have queries on my palm the question I have is how do you link the palm queries into the 60cs? Can I download the same queries from GSAK into my 60cs? Does GSAK support USB? Or do I have to go geocaching.com to download all the waypoint for each query listed in my palm? Thanks for the support.
  17. I need help can anybody explain the process using Easygps, 60cs and Tungsten E palm. What Im trying to do is down load GPX format into my palm. I have no clue what Im doing. How do all of these tools work in conjunction with each other meaning everything I down load into my palm will also download into my GPS? Or is this process done seperatly? Can anybody explain this is there fool proof instructions on how to do what Im trying to achieve. Thanks for the support.
  18. Do you have to be a premium member to get the GPX files needed to download into you palm? Will the LOC files work? and If so how do you convert them to download into your palm. Im using Easygps, 60cs and Tungsten E. Thanks for your support
  19. I think the reason you weren't picking up sat signals was because you wasn't holding the 60cs vertical as you know for best reception you need to hold the unit vertical. Now this causes a problem with the compass knowing that you have to hold the unit horizontal for the compass and you know how that is one tilt one way or the other and you get that message to hold unit level.
  20. Doesn't the defeat the purpose of having a compass on the 60cs?
  21. I've got a concern. For best results aquiring sats you should hold the 60cs vertical since it has a quadhelix. However if you have the compass on you should be holding the unit horizontal. Wouldn't this conflict with each other? How can you have the best of both worlds? Don't tell me to buy a magellan
  22. I to just got my 60cs on the 28th :-) My question is how do you download the way points into the geocaching page only? Im using easygps to download my way points, But it seems that when you download waypoints it goes to the waypoint page great. Once I change the Icon for geocaching they show up on the geocahcing page as well. Now I have the waypoints on two different pages. If you try to delet the waypoints they delet on both pages WHY!!!!! Can't you just download to the geocaching page only? Does anybody out there know the little trick that IM over looking? Thank for all the support.
