    Pq Request

Yes, I knew how to select multiple states, but wanted to avoid doing that since I can also look to caches in states outside my normal travels and catch them in my travels. I suppose I could simply select all states form the state drop down too.

    Pq Request

Is it possible to add the US to the country drop down to limit query returns to US only? I'm not ready for Canadian caches just yet and would prefer them to not impede upon my PQ's. I venture into Ohio, Wisconsin, and Minnesota so a state isolated query doesn't work for a few of my PQ's.

    Cache Search?

You know whats scary, the other site I frequent is also run by a Jeremy....its a conspiracy.
  4. GSAK gets my vote over EasyGPS as well and I haven't even learned everything in GSAK yet. Before I had simply used easygps to go between GC.com and my Topo, now I actually use GSAK more and Topo a little less.

    Cache Search?

That trick also works for bread believe it or not. I'm not sure about chips or popcorn though.

    Cache Search?

The queries that ran and were emailed were fine. They just came a bit slow which is fine. This is a read first before whining part, so no worries there. The problem is on the web view beyond page one. However, as I did another maintenance piece ( cookie purging) the problem seems to have corrected itself. So, I guess chalk this up to stale cookies
  7. PQ's are nice to have the contents of a cache info page local for me. As someone said, saves trees. PQ's are also handy to keep up to date on newly placed caches. I pay to contribute and keep the sport alive though. I pay alot of places just to support them, so its all the same to me. Goofy things I wouldn't mind seeing for paying member's could be Bumper stickers of some kind, awards for XX number of caches found and perhaps trophies for XXX+ found or something goofy, Tshirts may be a bit pricey, and finally a free raffle like annually or something of some kind of Geocacing item of a preset value. Basically you're looking for something to keep you interested in the sport when you pay to support beyond freely partaking. Since the sport itself is free and functions are usually never looked upon as perks, you have to look at geeky items to make others aware of the sport and how geeky you are.
  8. I was wondering what people do to utilize GSAK with Topo USA 4.0 or 5 I guess. Right now I export as an SA text file and import that in Topo as a plain text file/draw layer. I am kinda curious why there is more support for Street Atlas than Topo from both the GC'r community and Delorme with regards to Geocaching specifically. It seems that it would make the better choice for the sport.

    Cache Search?

PQ's can now be run "on the web" in addition to having the file e-mailed to you. You get the same result listings as you get with a zip code search, but you can select MANY more critera in your query. For only $3, why don't you give it a try? Ok, so I paid for a year, no biggie. Set up a query and "ran" it about 2 hours ago. No email yet. Checked the web results version and noted the same problems with the search for free members. The first page meets the criteria, but after that it completely ignores your criteria and returns all caches near your chose location. It also doesn't give you the option to change how many per page you wish to view and thus how many you can check and download at once. Granted its 5 more than a basic member, but still a nuisance.
  10. Generally the port number should be the same for anyone receiving these false positives. Most of the cases I have investigated have been the result of a particular port not "shut" on a firewall or router.

    Cache Search?

Not a problem, I had planned to this year since I have more time to cache.

    Cache Search?

Ok, so that gives the "sorting" ability but doesn't give you the ability to do it via the web directly. It would be handy to have that if you didn't have access to your email or something and just have it as an option from the site. Oh well, in time I guess.

    Cache Search?

You mean premium membership? I read through the features for the paying members and didn't see any of the things I noted specifically. Correct me if I am wrong though.

    Cache Search?

I was wondering if the cache search was being improved. I would like to adjust the number of returns per page and thus be able to download more than 20 at one time. I would like to download the cache description along with the loc info if I choose. I also found that if I customize my search to exclude found caches or perhaps only search for traditional caches, when i go to the next page in my return I get all cache types. It would also be nice if the search stopped for your selection, for instance zip code. Instead of being nearest to your search criteria.
  15. I'm really curious what you like about 5.0 over 4.0 as I avoided upgrading to 5 simply because I prefer base map improvements over the fancy add-ons. going from 3.0 to 4.0 was a great improvement for alot of the places I went to. I think it was an honest 80% addition of trails and other off-highway items added. Perhaps 6.0 will have a good deal of map data additions.
  16. I presently use a Garmin Etrex Vista and my laptop for hunting. I run Delorme Topo USA 4.0 ( upgraded from 3.0 but I think 5 is not worth it) and Easygps for go-between. I wondered what other people used in a similar setup and perhaps if anyone found a better transition between GC.com and Topo USA.
  17. I have looked at the products with the mapviewer. i was looking for some more feedback from people that have actually used the products though. So far from the mapviewer it appears to me that the Topo version contains all the info on the Roads and Rec version and then some. Is this true?
  18. I am currently debating what software to get for my new Vista. The top two in usefulness seem to be the Topo cd and the Roads and Rec cd. Just looking for some thoughts on the various choices.
