  1. MAY URINATE Better than the slightly sinister alternative ENMITY AURA though...
  2. Very well done Steve, not too far behind me now eh Looking forward to the next hundred Any highs, lows etc? <Speeeeeeeeech, Speeeeeech!!!> I'll get me coat
  3. What about Luminous Motion That should be a nice urban one to do at night. Haven't been there yet myself I'll get me coat
  4. You know, I'm sure I saw some keyrings like that at Edinburgh airport just the other week. Although that might not be very helpful as I don't think I'm going there again. My boss goes through there every month though so I could ask him to have a look next time..? I'll get me coat
  5. I've remembered the other way to get accurate co-ordinates...Put vaguely close ones up and wait for Steve to visit. Worked for me anyway I think I'm doing well if I find the cache within about 40' of its published location. But then, I rarely get an accuracy less than about 20' in any case. I'll get me coat
  6. It seems pretty clear from their log that they did NOT find the cache. Therefore it can't be counted as a find (and isn't now being claimed as such). Otherwise, we could all claim a find for turning up and not finding a cache that is still there, just by saying we found the location we believed it was in. That can't be right, surely? Or perhaps we could all wait for one to go missing then log it as a find without even bothering to go there! To me, a find is when you find the lunchbox or whatever. When you don't find it, then it's note or a DNF. If you go to an archived cache and it's still there and you find it, then I think that would count as a valid find. I'll get me coat
  7. Hello themac and welcome to geocaching I normally use WGS84 for the GPS and the British Grid to look up how to get where I'm going on the map. Multicaches are almost always in WGS84 format only so you will definitely need it if you go to any. But you can in theory use either for a standard cache and they should lead you to the same place. 8. Sedate? You think Steve's marathon Grand Tour of Basingstoke is sedate??! Anyway hearty congratulations on your 500 I'll get me coat
  9. quote:Originally posted by The Hole-in-the-wall Gang: I remember that you and AuntieMary were kind enough to take us round one of the practice caches at the HCC event That's a pleasure John, very happy to have helped you in your early efforts!! Looking forward to seeing your new cache now you have your ammo box BTW that wasn't Steve, that was (Uncle)Neil. Steve was manning a tentful of fancy gadgetry all day at the event I'll get me coat
  10. Seeing as you're being kind enough to run the hunt on my doorstep I'm definitely game. Never tried it before but it sounds like a good laugh. You up for it Steve? I'll get me coat
  11. If you want to go caching on the train from London, I recommend Tomb Raider part 1 at Brookwood. That's only a short train ride from Waterloo and the start of the cache is right next to the railway station. I'll get me coat
  12. Just wanted to say I'm very glad to hear Boysie is feeling better too I'll get me coat
  13. I've just looked and both of them were logged yesterday. Guess that means they're OK then I'll get me coat
  14. Amazing! How can you keep up that pace??! I'll race you to the next hundred if you promise to wear a blindfold I'll get me coat
  15. Well done indeed! Another contender in the race to 200?? I'll get me coat
  16. Well done! Beat me by one day....I'll race you and Woodsmoke to 200 - double or quits?! I'll get me coat
  17. Well done! Beat me by a couple of days....Race you to 200 - double or quits?! I'll get me coat
  18. Thankyou, I really appreciate all your messages as I sit nursing an enormous crop of nettle stings and insect bites. Sometimes I have to wonder why am I proud to have found a hundred lunchboxes full of McTat??? Well, I've loved the game from the very first one back in March (Crystal Gem) and wouldn't have missed it for anything. Plus, I'm fitter than I've ever been, I've visited some fantastic places, and seen loads of birds and wild animals I would otherwise have never seen. And of course I wouldn't have been able to come to the HCC meeting and meet all you great people Thanks to everyone who placed them, I have great memories of *almost* all of them. Favourite caches: Roman Remains, my first with GPS and Up & Down Again because of its great ideas and flawless execution. Honorable mentions go to Tomb Raider 1 and Quantum Leap 1 for being such good fun to do. Least Favourite: sorry but it has to be Rookery. Scratching about in a fly-tip next to a pub just doesn't do it for me. Most fun: Definitely the night cache at Crabwood!! Hardest: Obviously Built Early.... what a horror that was! Very satisfying though. Stupidest thing to do: too many to list but doing What Mast? in the howling wind and rain, just to get a FTF has to rate up there. Scariest moment: getting surrounded by bulls at Butler's Copse, losing my car and the GPS batteries at o pond. BTW I'm an auntie a dozen times over - Steve called me Auntie Mary so much at the HCC meet it seemed like a good idea to change my name to match! (and no, I'm not his auntie!) And still only 21 I wish... Right, on to the next hundred then...I'm looking forward to them. My best to you all, see you in the field! Mary :wq I'll get me coat
  19. On Friday morning, instead of breakfast in bed and a pile of birthday presents, this is what I received: A waterproof map holder OS map 197 (of the Chichester area) A hand-made cache sheet My GPS with extra waypoints already added So there I am traipsing about in a field in the drizzle on my way home from work looking for my very own special cache. It was lovely to open it up and see it filled with brightly wrapped presents Now I'm getting concerned because Neil says he's planning to hide my Christmas present in a snowman! I wonder if I should be regretting my enthusiasm for caching?? I'll get me coat
  20. Looks like we missed you Mr Robot We just got back from San Francisco a couple of months ago! Fantastic caching out there by the way I thought about taking the Tiger Moth but on balance it has a better chance of hitching a lift to an airport from London than from here so I left it. (I did feel a bit greedy already taking two) In retrospect I probably should have taken it to get it moving again, it might never find a volcano. A graveyard on the other hand...Hampshire is full of 'em. Oh, and I should just point out I'm retracting my comment about TR2 being too time-consuming. It didn't take us more than about 20 minutes. Maybe it's the £2 entrance fee that puts people off?? I'll get me coat
  21. Thanks to you all for the advice. As the volcano hunter has moved on already I'll take the other three (if I find the cache!) I think you're right, Mr & Mrs H, that they might be there quite a while if I don't. That cache might be a bit time consuming to pull loads of visitors. I'm really looking forward to going, we did TR1 a while ago and had a brilliant time Just wanted to check if it was considered unsporting to take multiple bugs at once. But I guess if one of the bugs was mine, I'd be a lot happier to see it moving than being left. I'll get me coat
  22. I am planning to visit a cache on Saturday that has four travel bugs in it. They have all been there about a month. One really needs to leave the UK (it's looking for volcanoes!) but the others I could easily help on their missions. Now, I am wondering when/if I find the cache, should I just be choosing one to take, or should I move them all along? I've never been to a cache that had more than one in it before. Anybody have any views on proper TB etiquette? Advice/opinions all welcome. I'll get me coat
  23. I remember once a policewoman crawled by in her police car, wound down the window and shouted 'What are you doing?' at me. I emerged from the pile of leaves I'd been poking around in, brandished my half-full carrier bag in her general direction, and said, 'Collecting litter.' That worked The sad part of the story is that I later discovered I'd been searching in completely the wrong area I'll get me coat
  24. Wasn't it great??? Must do it again sometime when we've all recovered! I'm proud to be from Hampshire and to have taken (a small) part in this event. I've already seen one log from ex-muggles who came along on the day and are now signed up, and several from people who heard the radio and read the paper, so a huge success all round Well done and many thanks to everyone involved for a brilliant day out. The atmosphere was superb and it's fantastic that so many cachers turned up to support it. Oh, and just to note I changed my username from MaryE today. I'll get me coat
  25. In case anyone is still counting:- we are aiming to arrive by 10:00 on Saturday, willing to help out wherever necessary. We probably won't be staying for the BBQ though. If the night cache is Saturday then I'd love to have a go at it. BTW I hope there's some parking provision being made - the last time I was at Farley Mount I swear the carpark was absolutely tiny... I'll get me coat
