  1. Active duty for 26 years. Currently a Sergeant Detective with a large urban police department. Only 6 years to go for a pension.
  2. I owned 2 Subarus (or would it be Subari? ) in the 80's. At the time Subaru didn't make an SUV, only 4WD wagons and pickups. I would have gladly bought one had they offerd an SUV. Had to settle for an '88 Isuzu Trooper. Perhaps I'll buy another Subaru for my next vehicle.
  3. Help!!! I had bookmarked a thread which detailed how to download a map from Magelan Mapsend Streets onto an SD card using a cardreader. Since the site has been revamped, I am unable to locate the thread. I want to download a map from mapsend to my computer, and then downlaod the map to the SD Card using my card reader. Any help that anyone can give me would be greatfully appreciated.
  4. Since Charity begind at home, why not put the procedes back into the Geocaching web site When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)

  6. if you look at the jeeep page located on most cache pages, the UTM is listed for you When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  7. What is to prevent a "badguy/gal" from hiding in the parking lot of the mall or playground? If you are going to be attacked it dosen't matter where you are. I have a LTC and do on occasion carry a firearm while caching. Mostly because it is illegal to leave a firearm unattended in a M/V. I do prefer Pepperspray because it will work on animals as well as most people. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  8. While surfing the web I came accross a website for Oriental Trading Company. I remember seeing their catalog a few years back. Some of their merchandise is perfect for caches. Anyone else out there have a source for cache booty? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  9. I've seen the movie but liked the book better. In the book, Freeman's character finds the out of place stone, but was not told by Andy. It was knowledge that Andy had passed down that told him the rock did not belong in Maine. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  10. Did you get the coordinates? I have three Teenagers I'd like to trade. I'd be happy to LTTN (Left Teenagers Took Nothing). When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  11. I usually take a radio with me. We use them mosty for camping, hiking and sking. They're great for car to car communication while we're on our way to the campsite or slope. They're also great when hiking with the family since the kids like to get out ahead of the old man. Wish I had these when the Ski Patrol rescued me off the mountain with a broken collar bone. The kids were no where to be found, they were skiing ahead of me. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)

Name is Patrick Maloney if you ever find yourself wandering into one. It is probably the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) and it is located near Fenway Park, one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Major League ballpark in the Counrty. 13. I picked up a ug nd planned to drop it in a week. as it turned out, I held on to it a bit longer and taking it on vacation with me, I moved it over 100 miles from its starting point. I did not e-mail the owner. I probably should have let them know. It isn't uncommon for a bug to be held. I once found one that had wintered in some one's possesion and was released in the spring. 14. This is based on the rising of the moon and its phases. There was a book published in the US some years ago called Moon Up Moon Down. It seems that the eating and activity habits of fish and wildlife are in synch with the moon just as the tides are. What the GPS unit does is calculate these cycles, there are 2 per day, based on the moon's position over your area. The GPS then tells you when the fish are most active and are more liekly to feed. I hope this explains your question. Maybe some one out there can elaborate on it. There may even be a web sute out ther to help answer this question. 15. You can go direct to their site at Game Call Technologies or try Sportsman's Guide. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  16. Please forgive me if this question was asked before. Do you use your GPS unit for things other than Geocaching? One of my new duties is crash investigation/reconstruction. On the crash report form, there is a box for lat and lon location which I fill in. I also use my GPS to mark my reference point (the point at which all measurements begin) so that it can be easily found by myself or another investigator days, weeks or months after the accident occured. 17. Just got my copy of My Ultimate Map. Actually what is is is web based maps and satelite photos. I guess the software price was actually a subscription to the web site. All in all it looks like a good program. The only problem is that the site does not list which map datum it uses. I've sent an e-mail to support. I figure, as long as I have my GPS with me I won;t be too far off base. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  18. I am a certified diver and a member of an underwater search/recovery team. One of the team members has a program which uses a Magellan unit and a waterproof pelican box on a string. The box is sent to the surface, a fix is aquired and the box is brought back down to the diver who remains at depth. I can get the program information for you if you so desire. In my line of work, compass skills are a necessity for moving jackstay search lines. Diving in limited or zero viz, we usually work on the brail search method. In thses instances, a diver is usually using a search line. The line is followed back to shore or the boat when the search has been completed. You need to hone your underwater navigation skills so you don't wind up with a long surface swim. I have three sons who are certified divers, and I stress compass navigation skills. 19. I own a Magellan because the Magellan Companion was the only model that would work in my Handspring Visor. I bought a Magellan Meridian because 1, I already own a Magellan product and I am happy with it; 2, the memory is expandable; and 3, there was a pretty good rebate offered. 20. I know you hid the Weapons of Mass Destruction very well...but some American with a GPS who calls himself/herself (name your favorite geocacher) just posted the find on Geocaching.com. We never figured on a geocacher finding the "Sadam's Secret" cache. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  21. I just saw the My Ultimate Map CD on the Sportsman's guide web site. Its a topo software which includes areal maps as well. The price sounds too good to be true for $19.95. Has anyone heard of this software or know anything about it? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  22. GPS on Sale has a few units that you could use for your business. They have units that can track vehicles, as well as units that will give you directions to your destination while driving. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  23. Does one need to place the signature item in a bag with an explanation? Is an expanation card necessary? My items will have my GeoCaching NN on them. I am planning on numbering each signature item, but I don't think I will keep a log of their travels. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  24. I'm almost done with my signature item. It should be appearing in New England caches within the next 2 weeks, depending on how quickly I can paint them and when I can get out caching. A few questions. Should I place these items in their own seperate bag? Should I include anything with the item such as an explanation? I plan to put my name on them and possibly number them. I'm not sure if I will track them or not. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
  25. Dunns River Falls is beautiful. My youngest, then 10, lost his footing and "coasted" underwater for about 20 feet. Fortunately, the only injury was a torn water shoe. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. Henny Youngman (1906 - 1998)
