  1. You're lacking a lot of details to agree on much... The MnGCA has hosted a couple of events based in the park - a spring event in about 2006 or so and we also based a CITO event out of the park last year. Basing an event in the park requires a little planning - the shelters require reservations (and a reservation fee).
  2. A little late, but you may want to check out the MnGCA forums: http://mngca.org Normally there's weekly gatherings, everyone welcome.
  3. I thought I had a problem similar to what was described. My email provider is gmail. My queries were being marked as run although they weren't showing up in gmail (when I used GSAK and fetched them directly in GSAK). I tried multiple times and got the same result from gmail - nothing there. I logged into the gmail account to see if they were there (they were) and then tried again in GSAK and got the PQs.

  5. I have seen the BWCAW campsites and portage entrance points recently in a digital format, yes. I loaded them into my GPS with no problem. I believe I got them from the USFS website, although I could certainly be wrong. If the data would still be of use to you, contact me through my profile and I'll find out just where the data was.
  6. MnGCA Cache of the Month Nominees and Winners: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...4b-f46d2b9ca329 Just the winners: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...56-a4f734b0c861 You should be able to create a PQ if you like from the bookmark list.
  7. I was able to submit my cache that I tried to do yesterday just now with no problems. Thanks.
  8. I've tried on and off for the last hour without success.

    MOGA 2008

Although Team MnGCA isn't bringing the tick magnet this year, so things may be better...
  10. As IB mentioned, contact EskoClimber - he is coordinating the effort and will be able to address your questions.
  11. You may want to try posting this in the MnGCA forums.

  14. I'm not aware of any location-specific groups in Minnesota at all. Have you tried the Minnesota Geocaching Association? http://www.mngca.org
  15. NE or NW MN? Your profile says Grand Forks but you're asking for NE MN... Check Superior Shooter Supply in Superior (WI) or MN Surplus (both locations) in Duluth. Fleet Farms are carry them sometimes, although you won't find any Fleet Farms in NE MN...
  16. I've started a bookmark list for caches along the SHT. Please let me know what I'm missing (because I know I'm missing a lot).
  17. You can also find the announcement and discussion in the MnGCA forums: Caching in MN State Parks Or on these forums: Caching in MN State Parks Basically caches are allowed. You have to work with the local park manager to place the cache (the process starts BEFORE you place the container). The MnDNR also has a page for caching (which pretty much only contains the policy and forms). Caches are also now allowed in MN State Forests: Caching in MN State Forests
  18. The Minnesota Geocaching Association has a Cache of the Month program. The nominees and winners can be found in this bookmark list: MnGCA COTM Winners and Nominees or just the winners here: MnGCA COTM Winners
  19. Welcome! Your area has a lot of excellent caches in it.
  20. Please do judge yourself. As stated earlier, the group has some fairly tight-knit circles, although there are people that are very new to the sport that are in these circles too. It's not an exclusive group by any means - it's an organization formed for everyone. There are those that have had their disagreements with the MnGCA in the past. You'll find that with any group.
  21. You're serious? Someone comes into the forums, asks for assistance in putting on a presentation, gives an email address, and you question if they are a sock puppet? I would suggest emailing them at the address they gave at the top. The also emailed the MnGCA with a similar request but gave no dates (sounds like they're trying to find interested parties first).
  22. Hi JimJax - Usually if the cache hider feels the cache can be found in the winter they'll mark it with the winter friendly attribute (the snowflake). Sometimes though a cache that can be found in the winter will have a totally different way to get to it (longer hike, snowmobile, etc). Winter friendly caches are typically above ground level although they could still be under a little snow too. Normally, as you can imaging, finding a cache under 3 feet of snow is pretty hard. - Pear Head, Duluth http://www.MnGCA.org
  23. You may want to try the MnGCA forums - Minneapolis is well represented there: MnGCA
  24. For those that haven't noticed it yet, the Minnesota Geocaching Association will be holding it's yearly spring event in Rice County's beautiful Cannon River Wilderness Area on June 10th. Free food will be provided to those that sign up before tomorrow night (sorry for the short notice on the forums) - just post a "Will Attend" note on the cache page with the number attending. GCTR96 - MnGCA Cannonball Wilderness Run Event Tentative Schedule of Events: * 8:00 AM - Meet and greet at the pavilion near the parking area * 9:00 AM - Timed Cannonball Wilderness Run" begins and people are welcome to explore the park finding the numerous caches available * 12:30 PM - Lunch * 3:00 PM - MnGCA Membership Meeting (voting open to MnGCA Members only) * 4:30 PM - Cannonball Wilderness Run Awards and Door Prizes * 5:30 PM - Wrap it up! There are currently five permanent caches located in the park. We will be hiding numerous *permanent* caches throughout the park (puzzles, multis, and traditionals). These will become available before the event and are open to everyone including those interested in competing in the "Cannonball Wilderness Run" where the winner will receive MnGCA logowear and a 2006 MnGCA Silver Geocoin. If you have any questions, please post them on the cache page or the MnGCA forum thread for the event.
