  1. Look, there is too much 'let them live' as far as muggles are concerned. This is the situation - they eat children and small animals. If you see one, rip its limbs off and nail its hide to the door of the outside facility. OK? How hard can it be? I mean, come on, get with the program!
  2. Exactly what I was wondering too..... Oh, I thought 'ERB' was Extremely Rich B - that would fit too if you wanted to make up a dozen of these boxes. (and a few spares) edited: WOAH! - answered while it was being asked! Makes some more sense now - ignore all non-relevent parts of this post - ALL OF THIS POST!!!!!
  3. A long time ago I started to develop an interest in CB radio in the UK. It sounded like it could be a lot of fun. Then, once it got off the ground, it turned out to be largely full of plonkers who wanted to talk about nothing but CB radio. I never quite saw the point of that. There is a word I would like to use here but it would get the big red pencil swinging. There is a lot of that same sort of thing going on in this forum. Why spend your time on a forum discussing the forum? Yeah, I know, I am doing just that but I have a vain hope that it will make a point. I have no intention of getting into anything as a result of this thread. I am well aware that there have been some very acrimonious stuff that has gone on in here over the last couple of years. I am also aware that there needs to be some moderation since the site is family accessible. However, moderating a forum, to my mind, should stop at naughty words and naughty ideas. That applies to the self appointed moderators as well as the official ones. (moving things, nicely, to the correct forum is good too - to ensure proper coverage since everyone does not cruise every forum) I guess what I am saying is, one mans 'lame' is another mans 'interesting'. As was pointed out earlier in the thread, a search is not always the best way to cover a point. Who can honestly say that they have watched a TV show or a ball game (for example) and then, having discussed it at lunch the next day, are prepared to say, 'No, I have nothing else to say on the subject and neither have you. It was all said earlier!' It is fun, and it is often productive to go back over stuff. Simply for the fun of dwelling on a subject that we are interested in. If that happens to appear in a thread and doesn't appeal to you right there and then, move on. An item is NOT lame simply 'cause it is not in your immediate interest. Ever hear this one? - Live and let live. WOW, I enjoyed that... Hope it makes sense! edit: to add the part about moving stuff
  4. OK, well, perhaps if I were to explain mine again? **sigh** N.C.T.W.W.A.S.B.E. Never Clean The Windows With A Soft Boiled Egg..... There now. Vote dadgum it!
  5. It's at times like these that I have to wish that I had typed my sig lines in 'clear' - No one knows what they are!!!!!
  6. There's no need to label a group as rebels without a cause. I'm not really interested in it but hey, no harm no foul. How about 'rebel without a clue' then? ((hee hee hee - they will never guess that I am really the leader of this group which prefers to remain secret. I suppose we will rise to the publics attention when we have a trial and punishment session and beat 'Ruth' with a damp log book but that will soon die down again.....))
  7. I think this thread is a good example of why the site operators are reluctant to make changes to any of the guidelines. When a guideline is in place for a while we all form a working idea in our mind of what it really means. Any change causes a complete re-think of anything that the change comes close to and the raising of argument and discussion on the 'real' meaning of everything! CHANGE NOTHING I SAY!!!!! EVER!!!!!
  8. I bought mine in the first place as a real input (as opposed to a simulator) for some surveying software I was writing. I had had it for a while before I was sitting surfing the net one evening and discovered this site.
  9. I just checked this one - it finishes in a few minutes and he has a bid of $3.60 - S&H is $9.95 Someone is not gonna get rich!!!!! Also, the guy seems to be a trader in knives, scissors and multi-tools. Looking for a new approach to selling them I guess.
  10. I have just updated to MS S&T 2005 and updated my PDA to an iPAQ with facility to run Pocket Streets and to take in the signal from my Garmin. Sure, an iQUE would have been great but WOAH! this system works. I literally took it out yesterday for for the first time, a run around the neighborhood. I can only say WOAH, EXCELLENT!!!!! If I could have it all in one box, that would be great but this is good, very good. And the facility for completely paperless caching is right there too..... Oh, sorry, back on topic, use all and any tools that your conscience will let you, no one is hurt by the score thay YOU accumulate - it's not about the numbers remember..... Besides, the tools that you WANT to use will evolve over time - don't sweat it.
  11. I will take the wording on the sticker in question at face value. I have neither the time nor the inclination to research every phrase or concept that I hear in case it has a seditious secondary meaning to some group, somewhere. I have always had a strong dislike of that practice of re-assigning word meanings to avoid any kind of controversy. You know what I mean - it's called "PC".....
  12. Any ubber geeks near me that can build or assist? I lack assembly geek and tools for assembly geek.. Course my trial and error geekiness would probably cost a lot more than buying one huh? Shame you are not local, I am gonna build one to play with - two would be just as easy.
  13. I don't understand why there is so much discussion about this. Get a bunch of the guys together and go round there. Drag the person concerned outside into the street and beat him within an inch of his life then tear out his liver and feed it to the dogs. Or, send him the link to this thread and let his conscience act. Slightly more seriously though. People seem to be very ready to quote the rules/guidelines when questions like this come up so most likely the post by 'CR' is closest to relevent here. But, since the tendency, quite rightly, in the game is to steer clear of hard and fast rules, it will not hurt any one if you decide to take things a different way. However, what you asked was 'what would YOU do',so, I would e-mail him the link.
  14. Yeah, that way you will get to see what you might turn into before it's too late!!!!
  15. STOP NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! Have you considered scrap booking? Or collecting pancakes? Or making models of neighbourhood storm drains? Or cleaning the car? Or... Well, almost anything really. Nah, It's OK really, just stay out of the forums.....
  16. Oh so very, very true..... But do you think they don't know the difference or are they just being forced to go with the flow? Either way, a REAL cappuccino is hard to get.
  17. I absolutely have to agree with this quote. If you are going to the effort to create what sounds like a very special cache then it should be respected for what you intend it to be. Let those who can't deal with that pass it by. By all means mention enough in the description to allow that to happen but to allow people to pass by part of the experience and still 'score' the cache would be to demean the effort that you are making to provide an interesting experience. Best of luck with it.
  18. The Item Has Been Sold - Thanx To All Who Showed Interest.....
  19. Want one? dadgum, I NEEEEEEEEED one, or I will go insane! Looks like some of the best fun you can have with yer clothes on! No! I need two of them coz I want to be able to race against someone. My birthday is VERY close now!
  20. I have now got to go to a pocket PC to run some work software. So, I am selling my Palm Tungsten 'E'. It is in excellent or even perfect condition and has an added 32Meg memory card and a hard case. The unit comes with PC/Mac software on CD and charger/all cables as supplied. I have had it for less than a year but now have to go over to pocket PC since that is the route that my main client has chosen as a loging/transfer device. (makes no sense to me but they do buy most of my bread and butter!!!) I will leave this note open here untill the unit is sold. Best (sensible) offer will be accepted. Please use e-mail through this site - PM does not work..... (or directly to bugandsnake@lastplaceonthenet[insert DOT here]com) Thanks for reading this.
  21. I'm gonna go and see it coz I really don't mind if it is not high art. I simply want to be entertained and I liked the 'DaVinci Code'. I am well aware of the holes in the DVC but I still enjoyed it, perhaps because I was able to suspend my disbelief well enough to do so. If I have to do that to enjoy this movie then I will do so. I am sure that it is, as previously suggested, 'The DaVinci Code but based on American history and Masonic iconism instead of Catholic iconism'..... That makes it one of many current stories, books, films based on that. I think that says something about what the public find interesting, fascinating, whatever..... Probably a passing thing, but that doesn't matter if it is bringing pleasure to many.
  22. ...and what about this point. It would be good for the game to be seen to have a code of ethics. "It's not enough that it be done, it should be seen to be done." Now, that all looks like an exercise in public relations but part of 'being seen to be done' involves self policing and as was said above, it can't be left simply to the approvers. All cachers need to use the 'should be archived' option in a case like a cache near to a school or any other sensitive location. The basic premise that started this thread is legitimate but is also avoidable with a bit of care and attention. If it means that some have to do the 'care and attention' thing for others then so be it. If you want the game to continue that is!
