  1. We're bailing on the hard souvenir this month.... sitting down last night trying to plan out how we'd do it after our holiday, multiple after work drives to the same place for AL locs etc... . feels like a lot of work and pressure, became un-fun. We'll get the 10 day one without trying on holidays, that will do....
  2. Us too! We are seriously scraping the barrel now! If the remainder of these need large numbers of caching days per month, we're buggered!
  3. It seems that way.... and my wife has already given me a dagger eye when I mentioned we'd be streaking this month! We might have to settle for the 10 day.....
  4. Same here.... We found a handful of physical caches yesterday (3 Jul 23), and an AL tonight (approx 0750 UTC 4 Jul 23), but no souvenir.
  5. Last challenge there was a starting time - 1200 UTC.... this time it just says find caches between from 3 July... does this mean anything logged with todays (3 July) date will count towards the streak??
  6. That's interesting.... do the guidelines specifically state that this would be grounds for a CO to delete a log. I would have thought that it might be 'bad form' but if the log is signed can the CO delete a log because you found it outside of other guidelines they have gazetted?
  7. I wouldn't dream of not posting a DNF.... it is our record - and it helps the CO/others. Especially since the blue frownies started being used, they are useful. I'd like to be able to colour other icons as well....
  8. For these monthly challenges, I would prefer they just run them across each whole month, ie start on the 1st.....
  9. Yes, that is cool - this has been our biggest year by far.... >1000 finds so far, 42 hides (my son and I conbined) and 23 DNFs.
  10. My thought would be you're going to have to start clicking a lot..
  11. I'd have little issue with this so long as it was only activated in really cache dense areas, and the final death blow delivered by a human reviewer. Make the disabling and whatever warnings are needed automatic, this could free up reviewers time as well.
  12. I musn't have had my coffee this morning! We'll have to streak for (28-16)/2 days each side....
  13. It seems luck is with us.... our 16 days holiday should provide ample opportunities for finds, we just need to streak the 4 days either side.... I think that is manageable.....
  14. When I saw the star on the wheel I thought it might have something to do with D/T stars, and thought 'cool'.... streaks..... I don't mind little streaks - they are fun, but we just did a month of streaking really, combined with an overlapped 21 finds in a week. We pretty much exhausted our areas resources! Saying that, we are on holidays for16 days in this period, but I suspect some areas will be cacheless. We'll see....
  15. If there is something there that could be developed to give a lesson with a geology theme, go for it. Make a new cache.... Why would the old logs for a trad be at all relevant to an EarthCache? Past finders might enjoy another visit and another smiley anyway.... The "guidelines" and review process that EC's have keep them to a pretty good quality - work with them, it isn't as painful as you seem to be imagining....
  16. From what you've said - my thoughts are "won't happen".... especially the part about the logs being preserved. EarthCaches are a very specific type of cache - you'll need to find something worthy of a geology lesson in the location you want to use, and separately develop it. and - as Mausebiber said while I was typing - they have their own specific (and strict) guidelines....
  17. I would never call a key holder 'other'? They seem to fit the description for a micro just right.
  18. The ones here, that hold a key or two only - these would fit the volume descriptor for micro....
  19. After a streak of events (7 in a row over 7 days) to help us workers get midweek finds in our cached out area.... we're on 17 days now. My son and I are off on a little caching trip next weekend, which will fill in 18-20.... done and dusted.
  20. We were going to just streak this one and finish this weekend. But the addition of the solstice souvenir made us stop and rethink, and preserve a few finds for this week. We're up to 15, will nail 16/17 this weekend, then 18-20 next weekend on an out-of-town trip. This was we'll save some of the local stuff for whatever next month throws at us....
  21. They do.... some more than others. They are handy for emergency finds - especially in bad weather or night time....
  22. I was going to post similar.... DT grid filling is gaining legitimacy - I only noted the little switch in the search filters last night, its very handy when searching a new area.....
  23. Same here..... Two machines, macos and a windows PC, both Chrome, multiple caches.
  24. I personally wouldn't change the DT of a cache outside of the 3x3 corner of the DT grid, especially outside of the 4x4 corner... And inside the grid things like 1/3 and 3/1 - I'd leave them too.... To be honest its your cache, and you can do what you want - but as you've found out people will definitely whine, most of us just under our breath, but some won't be backward in being forward about it!
