  2. So you found where the cache was supposed to be??
  3. You have to just shake your head and wonder what people were thinking when they place caches that look like bombs. I once found a cylindrical container wrapped with black electrical tape 5 feet from the front steps of the local County Superior Court. I found this cache placed at a local county water irrigation canal. Another cacher even wrote "Pipe Bomb" on it! Yes, I contacted reviewers (who agreed the containers were inappropriate) on both caches and got them disabled until they containers could be changed.
  4. I am late coming to this thread, and admittedly did not read all the posts. The FAQ clearly states: Nothing states "small knives are okay"...I have trashed out at least a dozen knives from caches based on that rule. So what has changed??
  5. Just be careful where you put your "false" coordinates. One local cacher accidently placed his false mystery cache coordinates right on top of a police offficers house in a subdivision. Despite warnings that the coordinates were false, a cacher knocked on the officer's door looking for the cache. Pick a nice, emply place in the map for your coordinates.
  6. [needs maintenance] January 12 by finder? (322 found) muggled January 12 by finder? (322 found) found the bottom part of the container, where it was suppose to be, but nothing else - muggled!
  7. It was archived because it no longer met the guidelines to be listed on geocaching.com.
  8. What kind of "credit" do you want?? For finding a geocache that meets the guidelines and listed on geocaching.com, you get to find it, log it, and receive a yellow smiley in your stats. If you find anything else, why would you expect to get "credit"? If your child get an "A on their report card, do you let them log for an extra smiley? If you get a promotion at work? If you do a good deed?? Temp caches are placed outside of the guidelines and are not listed on geocaching.com...you don't get to log them to boost your smiley count. One official geocache, one log, one smiley.
  9. What program are you using to try to send your waypoints? If you are using a program like Geocaching Swiss Army Knife, the program will send the waypoints to your Legend via the Com1 serial port. edit to add: you do not need download and install the USB driver since your legend is not a USB device.
  10. I feel your pain (or itch). I have gotten PO at least 6 times since I started caching.

  14. March 28 by Xxxx xxx XX (127 found) A birdie told me this one was small - and I just missed it... I will be back when I have more time... Trying to clear out Corning - and missed a few, did not search for a few, and picked up about 10 today! I will be back!
  15. Submit the cache, if there is a problem the reviewer will let you know Nope. A reviewer will assume you aquired the proper permission (if needed) before submitting the cache. by submitting the cache, you are stating you ave read and followed the guidlines (doesn't anyone read those??). The time to ask questions is before you submit your cache.
  16. Repeat after me "mint tins are micros...mint tins are micros". LOTS of my local cachers think "a mint tin can hold some pocket change or a guitar pick, so it must me a small, since it can hold items"...wrong. I prefer this description: from: http://www.todayscacher.com/2004/nov/olla2.asp (with pictures even!)

  18. was it WM PPC or WM smartphone. If PPC, downloaded the cachemate ver 1.31, copy into your phone. Used File manager on your phone, used your stylus duoble tap the cachemate file, It will execute and installed for you with some easy prompt. Yet you can used it to navigate to the cache. If your phone is smartphone, then let me checked out for you. Just found your was a WM smartphone, I guess it should be the same way as PPC. Activesyn with phone and PC. Copy the cap file into you phone external card. Used the phone filemanager, highlight the cachemate cad file, press OK or Enter. then it will run and installed for you. If it have a checked box for cacheNav, Checked it. Then you can used the cacheNav with your phone GPS to navigating you to the cache's location. Git it installed! Here's how I did it (for future generations): 1- Download the WM6 version of cachemate (it's a .cab file) 2- Connect your BlackJack to your computer and open Activesync 3- In Active Sync, open the "explore" folder 4- Double click the "My windows mobile-based device 5- drag and drop the .cab file into the "storage card" folder 6- Sync your phone 7- On your phone, open the "File Explorer" program located in The "Applications folder 8- Highlight Cachemate, and install.
  19. I have used Cachemate for years on my Palm, but I have just bought a new phone (Samsung Blackjack II), and am trying to install ther WM6 version of Cachemate on it to use for paperless caching instead. The Cachemate site says to download the .cab file (Wimdows Media version), and install via ActiveSync. I downloaded the .cab file, but cannot figure out where to drag and drop the file to sync to the phone. There are several directories I can put the .cab file, but I cannot initiate a download on the phone. Can anyone provide step-by-step instructions? The broad and vague "install using ActiveSync" just doesn't help.
