  1. A simple "enter" used to get you a separate line in the hint field when composing a new listing. That no longer works and the result looks bad, as demonstrated here: wpt 1: hanging on south side final: combo is 007 as opposed to the more legible: wpt 1: hanging on south side final: combo is 007 Is there any way to achieve the two -line format?
  2. I see what you're talking about. Earlier this month I visited 4 new countries and noticed souvenirs for only 3 of them. There is no souvenir for Serbia in my list, where I found 7 caches.
  3. Still not working.... I use this feature extensively. This isn't helping me plan a couple upcoming roadtrips
  4. I've several trackables that have been lost for 6-10 years and plan to re-use the codes on newly released trackable items. My question is, can a trackable's odometer be reset to zero so it only reflects mileage for the new trackable item?
  5. Yes, that's the geocacher I contacted. The other I believe is a family member. The response I received was positive, and the individual indicated they will sign all logs going forward. I am giving him the benefit of a doubt and will not delete his logs.
  6. I sent the message below to them, also addressing some other issues I noticed after they visited my caches: I realize you are a new geocacher so before your log any more caches, I feel you could benefit from the information below: 1) A cache should not be logged online as a "found" if you didn't sign the physical log in the cache. Just seeing or touching the container is not enough; you must sign the physical log with your registered geocaching name. A geocache owner is authorized to delete your online log if they find no cooresponding signature for that date on the log sheet. *Note that more than half of my caches you claim as "found" have no entry on the physical log.* 2) Always replace the geocache exactly as found. If you move it then the cache owner and subsequent geocachers may not be able to find it. Moving the container could also invalidate any hints provided. 3) Read the description for the cache. It often will provide information on how to open a tricky container (avoid brute force) and other useful information about the geocache or the vicinity. 4) Always bring a pen or pencil when geocaching. Micros and most small containers usually do not include a writing implement; remember, no signature=no find. 5) Trackables are NOT trade items. A trackable will have a code somewhere on it and the words "trackable on geocaching.com". These could be dog tags attached (or not) to an item, similar stamped metal tags, or geocoins (generally about the size of a silver dollar). The tracking information on geocoins will be found either on the coin face or stamped along the outer edge. Only take one of those items if you plan to move it to another cache within a couple weeks, and be sure to log your retrieval and drop-off activities on the trackable's page using its tracking number. Posting the trackable's activity keeps the geocache trackable inventory accurate and allows the owner or other players to watch its movement. 6) Pathtags, about the size of a quarter, are for you to keep if you wish. They can be logged on the pathtag website (on the reverse of the tag) but it is not a requirement.
  7. I will attempt to contact them now. I noticed most of their logs were just one word (or acronym?) that I don't understand. However, another "found it" they posted just today states "Did not see but we were there ". Obviously I need to explain to them what qualifies as a "find".
  8. A new geocacher (started account yesterday) has logged finds online for over 10 of my geocaches but has signed physical logs on less than 30% of those. I discovered this when doing maintenance on one they claimed and noticed no sig. on the log so I decided to check a few others. I would normally just delete thier logs but it may be an honest mistake made by a new player (?). I don't want them to get upset and drop out of the activity, but something needs to be done. Any thoughts on best way to handle this?
  9. Like others before me, logging out then back in fixed the problem. Too bad I didn't think to look here before spending 2 days cussing the app. I was the posterboy for the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.
  10. This one was in Iceland, next to an awesome waterfall (Dettifoss) where a scene from the movie "Prometheus" (from 2012) was filmed. The CO made the statue from cement, the head cracked vertically at the ears and hollowed to hold a lock-n-lock. Amazing craftmanship.
  11. Thanks for the info and feedback. Since it was mentioned there may be some GPSr's that are unable to read these characters, I guess I'll come up with another title. But man, it was going to be perfect! It displays correctly on my iPhone, Dell laptop and Android tablet. After checking my GPSr's I discovered my old unit (Garmin GPSMAP 76CSX) strips the images out of the title and displays only the ASCII characters; other than that, the data is correct. My new GPSr (Garmin GPSMAP 66i) I haven't yet figured out how to download geocaches after trying several times to follow the manufacturer's instructions so I don't know what it will do.
  12. I tried copying from word and pasting it into the title but that didn't work. I also made a .gif but that didn't work either. How do you make the image, and how is it inserted into the title? An example similar to what I want to accomplish is GC8ZQBX: GADGET CACHES BY JCACHE™👑💯 Counter⚖Weight={PULL} Thinking he could help, I tried contacting the owner of this cache but have received no response. Anybody else know how to do this?
  13. Thanks for the feedback. The inability to esily access caches along a route has been solved when I discovered I can download those queries for offline use in the Cachly app.
  14. Found I can download pocket queries for offline access in the Cachly app, so I'm good to go. The primary reason is to download the results of queries for caches along a route. A whole lot quicker than jumping through hoops in GSAK and I don't have to revert back to the Official Geocaching App either (which I left several years ago).
  15. Same question as original posting. Also, like last poster, I think it would be awesome to have a "make llist" button on query results screen or on page that lists all of a geocacher's queries. I would either like to make llists from results of "route" queries or directly make "route" lists. Seems this comes up several times each year for me and I've never found a successful way of doing this.
  16. Is there an easy way to make a list from the results of a pocket query? I have queries of several routes that would be nice to convert to offline lists for use with the app on my iPhone.
  17. Thanks for your responses. The issue is now resolved.
  18. Trying to help my wife use the Geocaching app on her Samsung; it's not as easy as using Cachly on my iPhone, but Cachly is not yet available for Android. Question: How do you load results from a pocket query into the app? Or, if not possible, how do I convert PQ results into a list (since I saw where lists can be imported).
  19. Thanks for the guidance. I thought changing my home address took care of everything. As it turns out, both of the notification coordinates were incorrect (one was just more correct than the other). I'm updating that information now...
  20. I changed my home address a few weeks ago, but the "nearest" notifications I received were still related to my old address. Went through the process several times and now I receive "nearest cache" listings that are a combination of my old location and my new location. On the Account Settings/Home Location screen it shows the correct coordinates, so I don't understand what's happening.
  21. Seems I posted this in the wrong spot a few minutes ago.... I can't find any way to download PQ's in the new app. Is that feature no longer supported? If not, is there a way to convert a PQ to a list? How about .gpx to list? Gpx to list would be most awesome, as I often start with a PQ route then choose select caches to make a gpx file for download into my GPSr.

  23. I REALLY hope this cache is not archived due to the (overdue) determination regarding new rules for challenge caches. I qualified for the final with over 51k accumulated back in Oct of `14 but due to medical issues I was out of action for almost a year, then moved out of state. This summer I will be returning for a few months and hope to go for the final. It would be a big disappointment if the new rules prevented me from claiming this challenge I had worked so long and hard for.
  24. Okay, I hadn't heard about this problem until I made an entry in the field today and then went back in to update it later. What the heck happened?? I couldn't believe what I saw, but thought it was a bug brought on by a mishap during a software upgrade and would soon be remidied. Not so, and now I find over 2200 of my 2674 finds look [bad] on screen. And they expect me to edit all of the entries? You've got to be kidding! I can't imagine what kind of a cluster their site is going to look like now.... Surely there's a better solution.

I had the same question. Now I see all I need to do is remove it from the "Pocket Queries Ready for Download (x)" list and it will disappear from the phone list of pocket queries. Also, there is no memory being used to store the results in the phone until I select it from the list of pocket queries on that device. Perhaps could have figured it out if I'd just given it some thought, rather than "why the heck can't I get rid of these from my phone's screen?!!". Thanks for the eye-opener.
