  1. Pitctures have been released of the Jeep Rescue. Looks pretty cool.
  2. Cacher Logger (as in log a cache, or Lager as in beer coloured dog and post cache ritual) Geo Boxer (as in seeking/finding the box) Trinket (that one was for the kids as a "Precious" compromise. Stash Hidey (as in hide the cache - and as opposed to Heidi) Also works with a second dog named Seek. Ok...I've exhausted my "off the top of my head" names. I'll try to do better next time.
  3. For what it's worth... I do write something along the lines of - GroundClutter was here, (date and time found) took...left...nice spot etc... Most times, it's short and simple because I don't want to be seen. It would be terrible if I wrote a nice long missive and no one read it except the thief who saw me. I leave the story telling for the on line log. That way, people who haven't found it, will see what a terrific cache they are missing, or if they need boots and a lunch etc. I do feel guilty now, for the ones in which I wrote TNLN. I don't want to give the impression to the owner that his/her cache is no good. 9 times out of 10 it's just a quick in and out without giving the location away. There was one cache that I hated, and I said so on the on line log. It was not a good day. I will try to put a bit more in the cache log from now on. That's the thing that the owner will keep. I will do unto others....etc
  4. WooHoo!! I stopped by the Sidney store today. Picked up a few lanyards, pencils and a microcache notebook. EXCELLENT! Thanks so much to both capitalpete and Groundspeak for making this happen. Can't wait to see more gear! And there are TB tags too!! Christmas has come early. Now I've got to get out and plant a few caches. Ho Ho Ho
  5. Hey, happy birthday to you! I know how you feel as my birthday was last week. Unfortunately no geocache gear for me , hope you make out better than I did. It was my B-day on the 15th. I've always loved having a birthday close to Christmas. It makes it one big party month. I'm wishing for a GPS v but am not holding out hope. I did however get one Christmas wish answered as Capitol Iron now stockes Geo-gear!!! I'm going shopping today!
  6. I can't believe that there aren't any Welsh cachers who would be interested in helping me set this up. Anyone? For those of you who don't want to, could you please let me know why? It would help me to figure out if I should ask other cachers anywhere else. Ta very much.
  7. Right on!! Thank you thank you thank you!! Ooh, I see a shopping trip coming up. I sense the makings of a neat little caching event. We'll all be at the store as soon as the items come in. Captialpete, will the gear be at the Sidney store too?

    Bc Ferries

In my opinion, there was no need to impose a cooling off period. There was essential service, with full service planned for the Christmas week. Now there is nothing. Of course the Government can legislate them back to work. That's probably what they are going to have to do now, inflaming the situation even more. Yep, we can vote for someone else too. Doesn't help us now though. Interesting to note, that now that it is an illegal strike, replacement workers can be hired. I think the union might have cut off their nose to spite their face.

    Bc Ferries

Ooh Ooh, gotta add something cache related or get this deemed off topic.... ok....ummm....let's say that there is a multi cache that requires taking a ferry to one of the local islands. How are we gonna do that now?!?! I think that the ferries should certainly be deemed an essential service. While I may not be in full support of the union, I think I have to agree with them to the extent that the government should have kept their oars out until a reasonable course of bargaining took place. It's too soon for a cooling off period. ps..... NOOOOO BRIDGE!!!
  10. Yes indeed. You can always tell those who are not from the big smoke. They pronounce the second 't'. Those of us from there say Tron-o. I was born and raised there, and was lucky enough to escape on the New Years Eve before it became the Megacity. Noooo don't miss Scarberia at all! I'm now enjoying a balmy Christmas season on the west coast on The Rock. Not to worry. It does nothing but rain out here. You sure don't want to move here! Hey, are there any cachers out there from Agincourt?
  11. Yea!! GC gear right here in Victoria? Am I to assume that the store is a "capital" store? With perhaps a location also in Sidney? Oooh I do hope you get permission. I'll be stocking up! I already love that store. If there was GC gear in there as well, I might just have to get a bigger car to bring it all home in. Good luck capitalpete! I'll have my fingers crossed for you.
  12. I'm looking for someone in Wales who would like to set up a 2 part international cache with me. It would work like this cache The person in Canada would go to stage one. They would follow clues that would give them the Welsh stage 2 latitude and the Canadian stage 2 longitude. The person in Wales would do the same, but would get the Canadian stage 2 latitude and the Welsh stage 2 longitude. In essence, each person ends up with half the Canadian coordinates, and half the Welsh coordinates. Each person must find a partner in the other country and exchange them in order to get the complete coordinates for their stage 2 cache. (It sounds harder than it really is.) I will send you a box of Canadian goodies to hide in Wales. You would send me a box of Welsh goodies to hide here in Victoria. Items should be particular to your country. Examples of what I sent to the cache in the US were, flags, Canadian flag playing cards, Victoria keychain, Dogwood (our provincial flower) bookmark etc.. I'll send over a travel bug too. If you are interested, please e-mail through the site. I'd like to get this going soon. Thanks! GroundClutter
  13. Congratulations DirtRunner!! I completely understand your excitement. I hit a milestone of my own today (150th) and it feels good. I know what you mean about it not being much compared with the 500+ that some people have. No worries. They were all there at one point. I think it's a big event. I'm going to have a nice tot of rum to celebrate my find, and I will raise a glass to you for yours!
  14. YAY!! Thank you Jeremy. I won't bug you again about this for at least three days
  15. Ooh, the multiple placer credit is a good idea. I'd like to add my wish of a pocket query by postal code.
  16. Jeremy.. First, a big YAY for all your (and all the others') work in getting the forums up and running. If I wasn't already a paying member, I sure would be now. Now...let me pile more work on you... could we please have a pocket query search by postal code for us Canucks? (by the way, I totally support the "no image in the posts" thing.) There. Did brown nosing help my cause?
  17. I hear ya! I'm still waiting for a reply to my request. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  18. Shhhhhh you guys!!! It's all a big secret!!!! Music-cachers, if you don't know about them yet, be patient and one day you will see the light. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  19. I'm wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at responding to this request. It's getting burried further down the list. :-( "You are cleared for geocaching."
  20. I just called the Best Western. They have all 99 rooms available!! They are right across the road from the Capitol. The offer a complimentary full hot breakfast, an indoor spa, exercise equipment, free parking, etc...They also have a meeting room available for our Club Babaloo. I'm going to check on a group rate tomorrow. Does anyone have any idea how many rooms we would be looking at? I believe we have to book at least 10. The regular rates are about $60.00/night. The Best Western is a fine chain of hotels. I don't think there is anything to worry about with them. If anyone is thinking of staying there, please let me know and I can try to arrange a group rate for us. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  21. GraveClatter? BOO! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  22. 27) Never have a pen in the cache. Good cachers bring their own to sign the log book with. 28) Make sure your coordinates are at least 20m off. It helps develop searching skills. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  23. Thanks PDOP's "You are cleared for geocaching."
  24. Jeremy? Is this feature possible? "You are cleared for geocaching."
  25. Not sureif this is the right place to post this topic or not. I'm sure someone will let me know. I was thinking about whatnew things would be nice to see in the geocaching store; fridge magnets pens luggage tag etc I'd like to see some little things that can be put into caches as trade items. Anyone else have any suggestions? If we do, how do we ask that they get made? Christmas is coming ya know.... "You are cleared for geocaching."
