  1. The last two times we've been to Barrie, we've stayed at a hotel near Molson Park. Isquba&Nawty had told us about Georgian College, but we forgot about it. We might stay here too.
  2. We've already got 6 smiley's for mega's, but we plan to drive ~750 Km (one way) because it's an opportunity to hang out with our Canadian caching friends for a day or so. We enjoyed last year's event and my wife said she wanted to come back again this year.
  3. I don't have quantitative proof either - but I didn't notice a difference in map speeds, when I put all of CN (US and Canada) on a 2Gb card. I've been using it this way for a couple of years now.
  4. Belated birthday greetings to the man with the BFL! Where did you celebrate you 3000th find?
  5. It's working for me - I pulled the URL below off my profile. Provinces cached
  6. Do your files have a KML extension? Mine download as KML. You mentioned XML.
  7. I just did the save file/download for my favourite travel bug. Started GE v4.1, then did file/open and selected the KML I just downloaded. Worked just fine.

    Midwest Geobash

While it's ~ 3.5 hours away (~200 miles), we've put in our RSVP. We hope to see our some of our Canadian neighbors (friends) there.

    Weekly notices

Are you going to send it this week? We published 2 events last week and we're hoping the weekly notification would draw attention to them.
  10. Check out the Geochums. They can tell you more about the caches in their area. We are "out of towners" (~125 miles south), who visit/cache there on occasion. We attended an evert & cached in the Lorain County on the Mother's Day weekend and were in the Akron area this past weekend. We are a Geo Chum and frequent their forums.

    Harvestfest

2trux & Candlelady might even come up from Ohio for your meet & eat. We've cached with some of you at events in both Ontario and Ohio. It would give us a excuse to go shopping at Coyle's Country Store & Loblaws.
  12. Yes, I've adopted caches I haven't found before and ones I have. I would certainly not go back and delete my found now that I own it, and I know it looks like a double standard, nonetheless I am not going log a found on a newly adopted cache. I'm just not going to do it. In my book, a previous find is completely legitiment and is in the spirit of the game, logging your own cache, regardless of the circumstances, isn't. Just my opinion on the issue. Like BlueDeuce, "I've adopted caches I haven't found before and ones I have". On the one's I had found previous to the adoption - I kept the finds. On the other 2, which I hadn't found before the adoption, I left a note (not a find), once I found them. In general, I probably wouldn't have adopted a cache I hadn't found - but in this case, I adopted all of a hider's caches (BT was/is well respected in our area) and I'd found 4 of 6 his caches and they were close to my house.
  13. After finding ~44 ISQ's weekend before last, I have one general suggestion. You might want to abbreviate the geocache names, ie. "ISQ #255: Way Cool", instead of "Indiana Spirit Quest #255: Way Cool". In Northwest Ohio, they use "SQ - cache name" for their naming convention. Based on the way I have Cachemate configured, all I see is: "T Indiana Spirit Ques... (1.5/1.5)". I had to select each cache to expand the name or do a find on the number to find the cache listing - in a database of 100's. We ended up NOT using the PDA (it's been a long time since we haven't used it). Instead, we used a combination of the laptop & GSAK, just the coordinates in the GPSr's, or some brief handwritten notes.
  14. - it had to happen just as i'm preparing to do some out of town caching this weekend.
  15. I know you have at least one Canadian comming to the event ... Wulf of Team Tigger is from Canada ! Star As Bjorn74 said - we'll have another Canadian. Although Candlelady lives in the US - she is a Canadian. We live in Ohio and visit Canada quite often. Bjorn's statement about me (2trux) is slightly misleading. The first caches I actually logged (long story behind it), were in the GTA (Toronto). I found/logged some of chris-mouse & mrcpu virtual caches back in 8/03. We're looking forward to meeting other Canadian's. We hope to have a Canadian flag at our campsite!
  16. I updated GSAK to v3.02 and downloaded an updated GPX later today. While the log entry shows my "attended entry" for our local CITO event on 4/17/04, it's not highlighted in yellow. Should it be? Thanks for an outstanding geocachining application!
  17. My wife is from Canada and we leave a Loonie (Canadian $1) as a signature item. Usually SLTN, L - Loonie.
