  1. I only have two finds so take this with a grain of salt. Both times I was within 10 to 15 feet of the cache and could not find it, so after alot of searching I opted to use the clue from the cache page. Somewhat like kissing your sister, but it kept me from going home with my tail tucked! I might have to do this a few times until I gain experience on different ways they can be hidden. It's amazing that by coming home with a McToy, my wife thinks I am only a moron, and not a complete moron! Yippee!
  2. Took handgun.....Left partner that was slowing me down. Thanks for the hunt!
  3. Curious.... Would you then require on your cache page that items to be traded also be wrapped or would it morph back into a traditional cache? I'm assuming the latter, but either way sounds like fun.
  4. I use the merigreen for caching, but my father is looking for a unit primarily for fishing, mushroom hunting, etc. He seems to think the Ifinder would better suit his needs, but as I do my research, the largest diff I see so far is simply the mapping software. Any opinions?? Did you here about the two antenna's that got married?........ The wedding s*cked.... but the reception was great! [This message was edited by Ritty on March 31, 2003 at 05:29 PM.]
  5. Anyone with any self respect knows that GPS does not stand for Go Plunder Something. There are bad apples in every group, but 99.9% of all Geocachers hold themselves and the sport to a higher standard. Along those same lines, I think a bigger threat is people not quite trading up or at least trading equal. I don't mean to kick a dead thread about that one, but it still needs to be brought up every once in awhile.JMHO!
  6. My appologies to my geo english major friend. Alas I must succumb to the idiosyncrasies driving my absence of literary comprehension. Kamakazi pilots probably ask, why does ritty spell (wear)(where) and not use pl.forms? Thanks for the links, AND the corrections! [This message was edited by ritty on March 20, 2003 at 05:30 PM.]
  7. sorry, just havin fun 9key, but would welcome anyone with the knowledge to feel free to weigh in. thank you!

  10. just fired up my new merigreen. Is there an uprade from v.2.09 that I should get for basemap before downloading from mapsend topo. If so where can I get that? thanks in advance! why do kamakazi pilots where helmet???????
  11. I just got mapsend topo at ecost.com for $69.46. I dont know what your needs are but I believe topo also has everything streets has, plus the topography. check to make sure because I'm new to this.???
  12. I agree that for the price diff, you might as well go 64 or maybe even 128. Although I only expect to need 32 for caching, it will be nice to have more mem. if I use a cruzer for transfering other files ie. music, pics data etc. thanks for the heads up. Technology Rocks!
  13. Found mapsend topo usa at ecost.com for $69.00 ,usually $89.00 elsewhere. They also have a cruzer with 64meg sandisk for $46.00.this puts my package at meridian green....$119.00 mapsend topo.......$69.00 cruzer w/64meg sandisk....$46.00 $234.00 total Going to try and get closer to 200.00 but would be satisfied to pay 234.00
  14. I can only answer some of your ?s because I just started shopping as well...There is no difference between the yellow and green other than the face plate colors. somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that, but I think it's as simple as that. You can get those for $119.00 at outpost.com. This is the one I am leaning towards, for the price and the features it suits me perfect as a beginner.
  15. Thanks for the link. That's the best price ($119.00) I've seen on the unit so far! now I can just shop around for the 32 mb disk and the mapsend topo, then compare to first package. Can't wait to get started!
  16. Hello, newbie here, I am shopping for my first gps and could use some advise. I have decided on the meridian (green) with 32mb sd disk. and mapsend topo for downloads. thegpsstore.com has this exact package for $229.00 is this a fair price? looks good to me,but I am just a newb! thank you for your help.
