  1. It is a pretty remote area of Kansas. I had to look it up to figure out where it was. I should have figured the southeast corner as that is the area I am the least familiar with. Looks like the city has one geocache and several strip mines south easy of town. Are there any nearby State Parks or Recreational areas we may be able to access? Glen

  2. I got lost once in a four square mile area that was all creeks and wheat fields. It was foggy and finally I just walked to the road, I am not sure I could have centered my position any straighter across the section from where the truck was. A four mile hike, either way or chancing a trip back through the maze. Often since, I wish I would have been smart enough to pack a gps when hunting. Some of us never learn....

  3. I doubt that the police do not care, they take hundreds of these types of reports a year. About the only chance they have of getting your property back is to catch the offenders with a sack load of property or on a warrant. Then the problem starts compounding, matching the property to the owner. If they cannot figure out who the property belongs to, eventually, it will sell at auction. I would think a pair of gps receivers would be easier to match than say, car stereos, speakers or CDs.

They know the odds of getting your property back are slim and it is a depressing report for them to take. Like anybody else, they want to be successful in their endeavors. Glen

  4. I am sure they made numerous improvements, we bought the 120s when they first came out. Top flight stuff then. B) Technology marches on, they have been used and abused for several years now and nothing has failed on any of them. Our experience has been nothing but good, high quality, tough stuff! Likecomputers, there is always something better tomorrow. ;) Glen

  5. We have five Rino 120 units and use them to keep track of the boys when we are all out together. I was disappointed in the radio quality. As a gps unit though.... they are super. I also have a GPS60CS and it has done a wonderful job. All of Garmins outdoor units seem to be very well made. I will be watching for your review. I am betting you will be very happy with this unit. Glen

  6. I probably found over 500 caches with a 3 plus. They were very tough and I really liked the unit. I had three of them, two never left the dash of the trucks they were in except for new maps. They are not bad to carry, but they are short on memory by today's standards. As a previous post pointed out, the serial port connections are about history. They were a good, tough, reliable unit. I only quit using it because of the map memory issue. Glen

  8. I had a friend buy me a fuel card for Geocaching, that was nice!

I always hated carrying a big bulky camera, one of those newer slimline cameras that a guy could slip in his pocket would be nice. The good photos come from carrying a camera!

Are you paperless yet? A small PDA would be great for that! If you have not tried it, you should!

  9. Hello, I was referred to this thread by a friend. That cache was placed with permission of the historical society, which would explain why it is still there. The owner is not from the area and when it fell in need of repair, the owner sent me a note to go ahead and archive the cache. If somebody would be kind enough to pick up the debris, I would appreciate it. If somebody else would like to place a cache there, I would be happy to approve it. Alternatively, if somebody would like to take over repair duties, I would be glad to unarchive the cache as well. Thanks, Glen

  10. If you find an unactivated coin, consider it swag you can keep. If you find an activated coin, it should be placed within two weeks, except those that state in the description that you may keep them if you please. Moun10Bike and AJAYHAWKFAN both come to mind. They both own all of their coins and do not mind you keeping them, just be sure to post your lucky find if you get one of theirs. They are a lot of fun to move around and you still get the icon in your profile for doing so. There is a big debate over this topic. The majority of us feel that coins placed with a goal of moving are considered stolen if kept. Glen
