  1. As per the cache page: Now that you have an idea of an area where a possible second coord. is, attempt to make contact with a Geocacher in any area along the coord. that you created above. You can use whatever means necessary for contact. Geocaching forums, phone, email, personal contacts, etc. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to persuade another Geocacher to get out there and take a photo of his GPS (with the coords clearly visible) at ANY coord. (choice is his/hers) that intersects with the coord. you created from your username above. A photo of the surrounding area would be nice as well! A point located IN a foreign city would make a better photo then somewhere in the woods! Let's see who has the most imagination & comes up with an interesting place. I must be able to translate your username & clearly see that that coord. is accurately represented in the photo. Once that photo is taken, you need to get it into your grubby little hands. Your buddy can upload it for you to the site. He can mail it for you to post, etc. Then you need to post the log for the find with the picture & tell us where the point is located. In order for both of you to get credit for the cache, your buddy must email me stating that he took the picture & reference your Username (or put this info into his log if he posts the picture directly for you). This way you can both log a cache. If he doesn't log, or if you have someone other than a Geocacher do this for you, you will get solo credit providing you have the photo with your log.

  5. I was playing around in Microsoft S&T with the Magellan Platinum connected to the serial cable and decided to try the live tracking feature of S&T. It tells me it is not getting any data from the GPS. Is this supposed to work with a Mag Platinum or do I just have a setting wrong somewhere? HELP...
  6. I wasn't there in '90 but was back 2 years ago....Dirt YES and swamps (I'm sure there are swamps on the tops of the hills there too!) oh yeah, and mosquitos! Although I did enjoy the Lunar Rogue in Fredericton
  7. I guess my question is then: If I have waypoints displayed on the Mapsend Region when I u/l it they are not uploaded with the Region? If not, then can I save a file to the SD card of waypoints to use in the GPS or do I have to do it via serial cable? Thanks....
  8. I have Mapsend S&D Canada and a Meridian Plat. I am uploading a region to an SD card, which works fine. I have a number of waypoints in a fil I import into S&D before I upload the Region but none of them show up on the GPS maps. I thought I had it do this for me once when I uploaded the map, am I dreaming, or am I missing something?
  9. Yep...another Infanteer, Lt in the INF. Ducimus - wasn't Gagetown fun!
  10. I'm in for 3 (maybe we could find two other people interested and split 'em!)
  11. quote:Originally posted by nincehelser:How big is my card? Regular size, I guess. 32.0 x 24.0 x 2.10 mm. George HAHAHAHHAHAAAaaaa, OMG, HAHAHHA, I nearly blew coffee all over the monitor!!!!!
  12. I was confused, but I am now in the clear! I was trying to keep one file that I could edit and add to as well as plot on a map using Microsoft S&T. I tried using Easygps and as soon as I saved the file (as a loc) GPSBabel could no longer read it properly. Turns out all I needed to do was save it as a gpx and learn how to properly use GPSBabel (thanks alexm) I do still have one question though, if I save a file in Easygps as .loc and then try to convert it using GPSBabel command line "gpsbabel -i loc ...." it (GPSBabel gives me an error, I tried getting the help from GBSBabel using the -h and it does not list a loc switch....is there such an animal ? I do see one for geocaching.com but I understand the .loc files from easygps are different. Any ideas if there is any plan to include this format. Thanks to EVERYONE who helped straighten me out!
  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...... (as in a scream to keep my sanity!) I have tried converting the files around for most of the evening to no avail. I want to be able to have a master list of all the local coordinates of local caches. I would also like to be able to put this "list" into Microsoft S&T to view their locations. I can use EasyGPS to add new items to my list but cannot export it into MS S&T without losing all the links. I have tried GPSBabel and GEOBuddy. Anyone have another solution? or a way around what I am trying to do. If the list stayed static I would be ok, but caches appear and I would like to update the list. As soon as I do this, I either download the entire list again (because as soon as I edit it and save it out of EasyGPS it no longer will have the http links if I convert it using GeoBuddy or Babel) I have found a "workaround" to edit the mapdata.csv file using notepad and manually add the new locations from a converted file, but I was wondering if there is a truly UNIVERSAL converter out there...
  14. I was hoping to have 1 file with all the cache's in it that I could edit and then display on Streets and Trips, but I guess the only solution is to have 2 copies of the same file, one for S&T and the other for EasyGPS.
  15. When I am editing the data in GEOBuddy, it is different in the edit window than on my display ie: coordinates on the screen are 43 9.614 -79 3.066, in the properties screen where I can modify them they are displayed as 43.1602 -79.0511 Why are they different and is there a way to have them displayed the same? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
  16. I downloaded a bunch of cache data, opened it in EasyGPS (to correct some of the location data) re-saved it as a .loc file then opened GeoBuddy to save it as a CSV file for Microsoft Streets and Trips. GeoBuddy gives me an error "Unknown tag:9" If I just download the data and then open it with GeoBudy it works fine. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I need to change in the preferences or is this a know bug? Is there a work-around?
  17. Where do I find the projection and scale for maps from toporama???
  18. It is VERY close off the highway and can be a quick find! Any travelers along this route should stop in!
  19. Can you tell me which (if any) of these are uploadable to a Mag Sportrak Pro ???
  20. Mainly interested in Geocaching, but some vehicle use and a little boat use. Like I said I have an original 2000 (6 years + old) and it loses the signal more than it has it, plus it eats batteries! I am not sure if I would use the removeable memory of the gold....what do you use it for?
  21. Just wondering what everyoine thinks of the Magellan Sportrak Pro I am thinking of upgrading (I have an original Mag 2000 now) and it looks like a nice unit. Any opinions from users / owners or people more in the know than me? Thanks.....
