  1. Fascinating and very, very sad. It makes you wonder how close any of us are to something happening that suddenly makes everything else irrelevant. Thanks for sharing this link.
  2. Hey Og, I'll go with you to look for danger Rick. I doubt that it's still there, but someone should go look for it to make sure. My very first find was a fooshfoosh cache. So long ago now...
  3. Well, that's not exactly my style. (I'm also one of the 1/10th of 1% that actually tries to obey the speed limit (most of the time, anyways)...so I'm probably the one in the car that you're cussing out 'cause I'm only going 60...) Thanks again Team Misguided for a great day!
  4. Great Day, Thanks to everyone! I even went over #300 (See my Old Tree log), and ended the day at 302 (which is approximate due to someone deleting some of my logs a couple years ago--see the Old Tree log). Oh, it's Friday, I guess I need to send out 3 resumes so I can file my UI claim today...... Back to 'work' now....
  5. FYI, the following caches are apparently MIA according to recent logs: #20 GC4C96 Don't Quack Up #23 GCGT0Y My Jungle #27 GCHVXQ The Heart of the Buzz
  6. Hi everyone-- Can anyone near Concord, CA help get my TB moving again? The TB page is at http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1931 and the cache that it's been at for a year now is at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fe-246336c744d1 . I emailed the cache owner to see if they know anything or are planning to check on the cache anytime soon, but got no response. Thanks for your help!
  7. Looking forward to meeting some new people and seeing some familiar faces again, too--I guess I need to run my FW PQ again....See y'all tomorrow
  8. I'll have time, too, just let me know...
  9. Yep, it's me! I took a break from caching (kind of got burned out, and have been doing a lot of birding) and then misplaced my etrex (I know it's somewhere around here). I recently got an Ique and while it is tons better for driving than for caching, it actually does pretty good. I'll post a note on the WA Geocaching list soon to let everyone know what I'm up to....
  10. Hey Moun10Bike-- I still have #112, which I did not find on the map anywhere. You can put it as being located, oh, how about in the Puyallup fairgrounds? That would be close enough to my location. Thanks again for all the cool things you do for the geocaching world. LindaLu
  11. I don't know about caches, but there is a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE tonight (Thursday May 15) (about 8:30 pm Pacific Time) so if the clouds will part tonight is a good time to get out! LindaLu
  12. Hi all-- I'm getting Japanese characters in my daily emails from this forum. Anyone else with this problem? I sure don't read Japanese. I put the font on my computer only because there is a person on another list who has Japanese in his signature and I got tired of Windows asking me to download the font. 13. quote:Originally posted by Sluggo: Learn to respect others for what they ARE, not what you WANT THEM TO BE. Now if only people would respect Christians for what they are and not what they'd like them to be... Oregone, I don't read your logs simply because I choose not to. I am encouraged by your post in this thread that you have, in fact, edited your posts in the past for various reasons. It was nice to meet you in Bremerton. Concerning other posts in this thread, this is a public forum and not a private chat room, and yes, since many of us know each other, it is a bit more familiar in tone. It would be good to consider that there are those of us who don't use expletives and would prefer not to read them in the forums. If this group was in person (the whole group, not just part), I would hope that people would use some restraint. Now some are going to call me a "narrow-minded prig" I suppose, but it's funny how "being tolerant" never seems to apply to being tolerant of Christians and others with value systems different than your own. Instead, Christians are made fun of and called names. OK, I'm done, I'll get off the soapbox now. But maybe someone out there has heard what I have to say, anyway. LindaLu
  14. Wow, I feel honored to have Dancing Men on that list. Too bad I had to archive it so quickly. I'll try to resurrect it soon... Linda LindaLu
  15. Saturday is preferable to Sunday... LindaLu
  16. I for one would appreciate it if you dropped the pseudo-swearing *****. Think of me whatever you like, I just think treating each other with respect is the right thing to do. LindaLu
  17. After reading catman's log, I have a few comments. I don't see nastiness in his/her log, only concerns about the safety of the cache site. I have sometimes myself listed concerns of one type or another in my logs. I do not believe it should be marked as a find if the box is still there and the person did not open it up. But that is entirely the cache owner's call. But why place a cache in an unsafe area to begin with? Certainly you can place challenging caches without endangering people. Just my two cents. LindaLu
  18. As I mentioned in our WAGeocaching list, I think Renton would be a place most convenient for all--the eastsiders can get there by coming down 405, the Seattleites can come down I-5, and the southerners can get there from either I-5 or 167. Saturday would be preferable to Sunday. LindaLu
  19. I've tried this Mobi-program, and it has crashed my PDA at least once. It also causes trouble for Documents to Go, which I use for Word files. I'd like a more open *prc format that my Docs to Go can read. Also, I do NOT want all the logs on there, they just take up a lot of space and memory. I've been using Plucker, which works great.... and Geoclipper, which is good for grabbing specific caches.... Thanks for working on this (and working, and working, ....) LindaLu

  21. Hi all! Well, I completed the ride from Buffalo to Albany (7 1/2 days, averaging about 50 miles a day). What a blast! I had a great time. What I didn't have, though, is time for geocaching. I found that it took all my energy just to do the biking, etc. That and my had trouble keeping my batteries charged.. If you want more info on the ride (maybe join it next year!), go to http://www.nypca.org/canaltour/index.shtml Thanks again for your help! LindaLu
  22. quote:Originally posted by Dekaner: Do a search on all the caches that have the word 'canal' or 'barge' or 'erie' or whatever in them, then download them all and import them to a mapping program. (I use streets&trips.) Then just throw out anything that does't fall close to the Erie Canal! - Dekaner of Team KKF2A I've tried that as well as zip code searches, etc. The only problem with that is that keyword searches are limited to 20 results, and canal and erie (but not Erie Canal) will give you results all over the place... I've compiled a preliminary list, and will post a link to it in my original message when I get back from a camping trip on Monday. Thanks for the help so far! LindaLu
  23. Hello upstate NY geocachers! I will be biking the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany in two weeks and am compiling a list of caches to hit that are on or near my route. I've used several sources, but would welcome any suggestions you could give. I'm running out of time to make my list and download the waypoints, so your help is welcome! Basic route (some towns may be out of order, I don't have a map with me at the moment): Buffalo from downtown by the Niagara River Tonawanda Amherst Lockport Medina Albion Spencerport Genesee River Trail into Rochester Pittsford Bushnells Basin Fairport Palmyra Waterloo/Seneca Falls Montezuma Jordan Canal Park Camillus Erie Canal Park (I've found 3 of them there last October) Syracuse Green Lakes St. Park Chittenango Rome Oriskany Utica Little Falls Canajoharie Schoharie Crossing Schenectady Cohoes Falls Albany Thanks in advance for your help! 24. Shouldn't destroyed benchmarks be archived on this site? I noticed that the option for logging "this cache should be archived" is not available on benchmark pages. I guess I don't understand why a benchmark still has a page (either here or on the official pages) if it was destroyed in 1958, which a number of the ones around here were. Can we clean up the gc.com pages at least by getting rid of the marks that are not there any more? Just wondering. LindaLu
  25. quote:Originally posted by skydiver: I've been watching this forum for a while and notice that a great majority of the posters are all from Oregon (or so it seems). I find it hard to believe that Oregon has the only active geocachers in the NW, so let's find out where everyone else is from. --- I think you've got some slightly faulty logic there, equating posting on the forums with being active geocachers. I would say that the Washingtonians are too busy getting out there and caching to spend tons of time chatting on forums..... Cheers! LindaLu
