  1. Wow, Very Nice Coin M10B! I like the little Washingtons on the front side and the little Idahos on the back--to show your "dual residency", so to speak! Thanks for ALL you do for the geocaching world....
  2. Hmm..interesting. Western Washington won't be too hard, I have finds in most of those blocks already. Some of eastern Washington will require a 3-4 day trip, though. I did a 4 day birding trip up to Salmo Pass and back but there was zero opportunity to do caching with that group. Too bad, because I'd have a big block done already on that side of the state. As an aside, has anyone noticed the Delorme "Easter Eggs"? There is at least one in Washington (page 33, block A7/8 where you will find Bigfoot).
  3. Congratulations to all on the Alaska Cache N Dash Team who hit milestones along the way: (I think I have them all, my apologies for any mistakes) Geozuk (200) El Santo (200) CENT5 (200) Lowrider71 (250, I think) globalgirl (500) LindaLu (700) Prying Pandora (1500) Moun10Bike (33 Gazillion) reino may have hit one too but he doesn't keep track (or so he says) We had a blast! Thanks CENT5!
  4. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't even begin to describe what an incredible adventure this has been! Like the others, I want to thank: First of all, the one and only CENT5 (You really do rock!), thank you for your generous spirit, and for all the details that you took on to pull this off. I only wish there was some way I could even begin to pay you back. To Team ACD: Hanging out with all of you was wonderful. We were a small picture of the variety of people involved in geocaching. Thank you for sharing this unique experience with me. (And thanks reino for not driving the van off the cliff...it's just a rental, but I'm not ) To our Alaskan hosts, including NorthWes, Weizguyz, Ladybug Kids (Dad), MamaMouse, Trove Rover, BenGeo'n, and everyone else (I probably forgot someone, sorry), your warm welcome and hospitality is a shining example of opening your homes and hearts to others. To everyone: WELL DONE!
  5. If the flight is full, we will probably want to limit the size of our carry-on stuff anyway, and check most gear. I agree, 10:05 PM arrival sounds much better! Don't forget your photo ID! CENT5, do you happen to know Alaska Airlines' policy on GPS usage during flights? (But if we are in the center of the row it won't matter much anyway since you can't pick up the sats from that position.) The clock is ticking.........
  6. I can stay until Friday or Saturday no problem, I'll just stay with my sister. I don't have to be back at work until Monday morning.
  7. So that explains why I haven't been able to find any caches lately.... Thanks for the update on the plans, I'm not as confused anymore
  8. OK, I'm a little fuzzy on which day we are doing what. I had thought we were going down to Turnagain Arm and Whittier on Wednesday. Cent5, would you please post a tentative schedule thus far? Thanks, You Rock (anyone tell you that?)!!!!
  9. I have a problem in that I have a bunch of queries that I normally spread out during the week. But when I click on the box on the PQ page no matter what day I select, it runs the query immediately, so I quickly run out of my 5 pqs for that day. For example, today is Wednesday, I clicked the box for Monday for one of my pq's (to have it run next monday) and the darn thing ran it immediately. So I can't set up all the queries ahead of time because I run out of my 5 for that day.
  10. LindaLu checking in here. I've been away on vacation, so I just wanted to let y'all know that I'm excited to be one of the lucky winners! My sister lives in Anchorage, so it will be good to see her (briefly, probably at lunch or dinner!) I'm glad that Fairbanks seems to be out of the picture, I'd love to visit there but on a more relaxed schedule someday. Anywhere down towards the Kenai peninsula sounds great! By the way, I wouldn't worry too much about the moose. Yes, they are there (heck, they are my sister's number one garden pest sometimes!), but give them a wide berth and we should be fine. With a big group, we'll be making so much noise that they will hear us coming and run the other way...
  11. Thanks! Good luck to all (but especially me!)
  12. I sent my proxy too but have received no response. Here is my photo:
  13. I probably will be wanting to do some sort of proxy submission, as I am leaving from Sea-Tac that night (17th) for a hiking trip to the Adirondacks. Since I also have to work that day, making an additional trip to be present for the drawing would add to my jet lag! It was great meeting you CENT5 on the Iron Horse Trail!
  14. Hi egli! I also bird while caching, just as I bird while hiking, while golfing, while driving to work...well you get the point. Many of the spots which are good for birding are also scenic in one way or another, so you will often find caches nearby. Cheers--
  15. I posted and then didn't check the thread for a while, and now you all have me confused. Are we meeting in a particular place to carpool? I'd be coming up from Puyallup. I'd rather not spend $5 if I can avoid it. Can someone summarize what the plans are at this point? (Sorry, for some reason I cannot unravel the flow of the replies on this thread....I must be tired or something...)
  16. Count me in! I had found the APE cache previously, but Iron Horse was missing at that time (someone took it to Texas, as I recall), so I'd love to go back to the area. I had to wait to see if I had the day off before replying, and I do! Looking forward to meeting you, Dave and Becky!
  17. This list brings back memories, particularly of the Kalakala Kid event cache. I did not yet have a gps receiver so I went to where the map said, sat on a bench, and waited for someone with a gps to show up! I believe the first geocacher I ever met was EraSeek. That was a great day, meeting other cachers for the first time. If those of you who were there remember, we signed a paper plate, and I had everyone sign a second paper plate too. Which I still have, so if we ever start a WSGA archives......
  18. I have archived Kamikaze! at the request of Kelly Heintz, Natural Areas Manager, Washington State Department of Natural Resources. See cache page for details...
  19. Per request of Kelly Heintz, Natural Areas Manager, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, I have archived Kamikaze! as they do not want anyone to visit the Falls via that path until a proper trail can be built. I look forward to that day, which could be in just a couple of years.
  20. Just a heads up to anyone who has had my Kamikaze! cache on their to-do list. I have disabled the cache due to the fact that the Washington State DNR is working to "decommission" the Kamikaze Route. If you have the May 2005 issue of Washington Trails, take a look at the article on page 4. I have sent an email to the authorities asking them what they would like me to do about the cache, but in the meantime, please do not go looking for it. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
  21. If you have space on the hard drive, you can copy the whole folder of maps from each disc into a single directory (with a sub folder corresponding to each cd), and then tell the program to look for all the maps there. This can be done at View-->Preferences and Settings--->Data Folders (You do need to exit the program and restart it after doing this). You might uninstall previous versions (from the Add and Remove Programs) first (leaving 4.0 installed), then copy the folders from your map CDs to the hard drive, then use the above to tell the program where to look. Good luck!
  22. [begin sales pitch] The Anniversary Sale lasts until May 15, and applies to the retail stores, online, and the 800 number. (Call in and you might get me!) Sale prices end in 9 or 3, and the member coupon is good for regular priced items only. There is an exclusion list, mainly items for which the profit margin is so low we would lose money if we gave 20% off. There you go. [End sales pitch] Cheers!
  23. I'm off on the 21st but will have to work on the 28th. If there are enough people maybe there can be two trips?????
  24. Count me in for June 4th! Would like to carpool if possible (can meet people at the P&R at Hwy 512 and I-5 in Tacoma/Lakewood really easy).
