  1. Thankee kindly! Wow, great service - post a topic and WHAMMO - less than 10 minutes later Jeremy Himself shows up and answers the question, fixes the problem, rescues the cats out of the trees, gets Little Timmy out of the well, and flies off into the sunset.
  2. Thanks, Keystone. Cymbaline did a much prettier post of the problem than I did, I see...gettin' all fancy with that there coding stuff and everything...
  3. I just tried accessing one of my caches and got this error instead: Exception of type System.OutOfMemoryException was thrown. Never seen it before...did we break the geocaching.com site?
  4. You use some of your extremely limited vacation time just to bag that APE cache... And my husband's contribution: ...you're an expert at peeing in the woods. And so is your husband.
  5. OK...this is weird... I got a PQ of a bookmark list just now. THAT one went through, no problem. However, my manually created one is still sitting there, not sending me anything. And now my PQ just showed up. One that I requested first thing Saturday morning. Huh. Never mind, then, I guess.
  6. I've been trying to run / receive a PQ for a couple days now. I've done everything right, and even checked "uncheck day of the week after query runs". I can get it to perform the search, but I can't actually get it to email the GPX / ZIP file. The checkmark is staying checked, as well - it's not "unchecking" so I'm fairly certain the query isn't running. I've told it to send the file to my account's email address, which is still active. I've received emails from Groundspeak to it earlier this morning, in fact. What else can I do to get this to run, or is it glitched? Thanks.
  7. Well, I was told to ask for people from various locations in order to get some "geographic diversity"...I suppose Washington state fits the bill...
  8. I've noticed there is no Waymarking category for Michigan Historic Markers. I'd be willing to manage it, but I've been informed I need at least 3 people to help as a "management group". While I don't live in Michigan currently, I had been a Michigander for 28 years, and I still travel in Michigan extensively. We live about 1/2 hour south of the Michigan border. Anyone want to help? I'd be very appreciative!
  9. I've been informed you need at least 3 people as a "management group" to create a new category. I'd be willing to serve on the Indiana "Management Group" for you. They recommend "geographic diversity" as well, to make sure everyone from around the state is represented, I guess. I'm from Northeast Indiana. You need 2 more people, looks like...
  10. Actually, yep, that sounds like some super swag! Something for everyone, so to speak - some nifty stuff for kids, some neat stuff for the adults, and everyone's happy. Well, except the people who're going to complain about everything and even they're happy because you gave 'em a new cache to complain about. You don't have to leave FTF prizes. We usually don't - and they're quite the rarity around here. We've left them in a couple of our caches because those particular caches were either more difficult than usual, or we wanted to draw some attention to them, so we left an FTF prize. Some good swag that has always gone over well in our area is brand-new decks of cards. We'll seed a cache with a deck or two and then by the next weekend they're gone. We stocked one of our caches with seven decks of cards recently - a month later it's down to 2 decks. We get 'em by the megapack at Sam's Club - I'm sure Costco or some other warehouse-type store would carry them as well. We get a dozen decks for around $9. Mini-glowsticks seem to go over well, too - and we can get BIG megapacks of those things from the dollar store. Honestly, it doesn't have to cost a lot: if I'm trolling through Sam's, or Wal-Mart, or wherever and I see something that I think, "Hey, that looks neat! I'd like to have one of those!" I might pick up a few for caches. I think the most I've ever spent on a single cache item is $2. Pin-on compasses, compass / whistle combo, lanyards - all that stuff will be appreciated and not one of them is over $3 each. WAY less if you can get it on sale. I honestly think that the "degradation" isn't so much the cost of the items in the cache, it's the value. How valuable or useful is half a McToy? Not very. How valuable / useful is a dirty golf ball? Extremely, according to the 3-year-old son of a caching friend of mine. How valuable / useful is a $1 pack of AA batteries? Priceless if your GPSr is beeping at you and will turn off in 30 seconds when *BINGO* there's the cache. Similarly, the cards are also priceless if you're out camping, you're all set up, and...now what? Dinner's over...you've run out of conversation...too early to go to bed, but too dark to read. Things of low cost / price can still be of very high value.
  11. Pickles + science = All Hail The Glowing Pickle!
  12. Looks like BrianSnat decided that the cache was, indeed, not visited enough and archived it. And it looks like Hako's on the move again! Hooray for your bug!
  13. Please put "Paws"itraction down for 1 silver. Nifty coin!
  14. To confirm what The Leprechauns said, I am using Firefox and have no problems with the boards.
  15. I have two I'd like to add to the list, if I may... Virtual Vacation, last seen in I Brake "FORE" Fishing, GCKJJX on October 16, 2004. I've posted a note for that cache to ask if someone could check the physical logs. Cruisin' USA, last seen in Guana Quest, GCC281 on May 1, 2005. This one's had rather a rocky adventure; I'd appreciate it if someone could check the physical logs and see if someone recorded picking up my bug. Thanks for any help you may be able to give!
  16. THEY'RE BACK! Oh, thank you thank you thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou...
  17. How much were they? I want one! Hmmm...is it legal to send lighters through the mail?
  18. And, since it isn't Cheers? I will refrain from saying that I'm very glad her meeses are feeling better and it sounds like a good idea to take the wheel out. I will also not say that it sounds like ya got a coupla OCD meeses, there. Well, as their adoptive mom, should I admit that perhaps they take after me? *snerk*
  19. TBAG! NORM wanted it, but I beat him to it. Double points!
  20. And, since it isn't Cheers? I will refrain from saying that I'm very glad her meeses are feeling better and it sounds like a good idea to take the wheel out. I will also not say that it sounds like ya got a coupla OCD meeses, there.
  21. Was gonna post this in Cheers? but since it's Temporarily Closed For Renovations, apparently, From the Torry is everywhere file: I stopped off at my local stop-n-gas for a Diet Coke. Next to the register is a large display of lighters. They just added a new display: a box of...pig-shaped lighters. That make noise when you use them. I was afraid to touch them - I'm not sure if it's gonna oink or ask me to play Twister! I may just have to purchase one, just so I can post pictures...
  22. I keep saying that our IT department at jbex installed caller-ID on their helpdesk phone so they could see when it's me calling. "Oh, great, she did something really weird to her computer again. Nobody pick up the phone." We DO have caller ID on our phones and so we DO sometimes not pick them up for this very reason... *snicker* Yeah, I've a small list of phone numbers that I try to keep hidden but real accessible for reference, so if that number pops up on my work phone... (and hey, I wouldn't blame our IT department if they did avoid answering my calls - they're always something either complex, expensive, or shouldn't be possible for that to happen sort of issues.

  24. You and I both had the same thought, E, and we were right.
  25. my sentiments exactly. I told you guys about a FTF I should not have done this morning.... Hey, where's the one-eyebrow-up smiley? I thought we had one. Anyway, yeah, I probably wouldn't've done it. Nice log you made, though. (But then again, MY current "problem cacher" is a total attention ho, and unfortunately said cacher will do anything to get attention. Unfortunately^2, some cachers that I really respect are giving it to Said Cacher, and there's no real way I can say, "Hey guys, quit giving SC attention, please" without looking like a real...um..."dogmom", if you get me. So, I just ignore Said Cacher's hides, and pay as little attention to Said Cacher as possible. Even if Said Cacher shows up at our monthly meet-n-eats, I just say hi and that's about it.) *sigh* But you did do a very nice log for that cache, and congrats on the FTF!!!
