  1. I am just trying to get a new avatar photo to show up. Test. Sorry for the interuption.
  2. CR, Funny you should mention this idea. I bought a few of these tubes from GC and use 2 of them on my motorcycle. One contains the registration and the other contains the insurance card. However since I do go off road sometimes to cache I will now put the information you suggested in the insurance tube and attache anothe tube to my bike keychain with the same info. Thanks. Ken
  3. My thoughts on why we get so many TNLNSL is due to the time constraints we all face in life. It would be nice if we all could hike 3 miles, swim across a river at the rapids and scale 100 ft cliff for a cache. But I am sure the majority of us have jobs and or families that also require time but yet we still yearn for the "find". Which brigns us to the urban micros which of course logs only and all you can do is TNLNSL. My $0.02 worth of thoughts.
  4. I do too like to find items in a cache but are not urban micros just a log book? So if I don't find anything useful in a cache I now just sign the log. After all it's the thrill of the find and a numbers thing right?
  5. Sorry for getting this off the original topic....So I'll answer your question... Would I stick my hand in something like that? I would probably use something to poke inside it but not my hand. Reason- about 3 yrs ago I ended up in the hospital with blood poisoning from bait I was using for fishing. I guess I didn't clean my hands up good enough and caught the bug that way. Now I am leary to put my hands in someplace where some virus and or bacteria might be. Ken
  6. I thought it was o.k. to bury part of a cache such as this pipe? Not the whole cache, but the body of it leaving the top above ground. Ken
  7. I'm not into FTF's either. Would I go seek a cache and try to be FTF??? Of course but I like my sleep so don't expect me up at the crack of dawn to go caching for a FTF. Personally I would rather find that cache that hasn't been found in 6 months. Geocoins.....I love them and love to find them. I like them better than the dog tag TB. Geocoins can go in almost any cache whereas a dog tag TB is usually bigger and needs an ammo can. Ken
  8. Before I place a cache I get the coord's and then on the hide and seek page search for caches in the area. Did it today closest cache was 2 miles away. Got 2 caches approved today. Ken
  9. ooops finished reading all the logs so my question was answered. excuse this post.
  10. I just purchased one of the 1 oz silver geocoins and I am using it as my personal TB. I got the idea from webfoot, thought it was cool but never got around to doing it on my own. Saw westwardHo's tb at a beach bash and that got me thinking....Ho many miles from cache to cache have I gone. So on 9/21 spent about 3 hours logging in and out that coin from every cache find. And yes I do log it on my own caches, but only one time per cache. That's how I want to play this game. Ken
  11. I won't call from the cache site even if I know my GPS has me in the middle of a vacant lot. I will always e-mail the owner for an extra hint and if we have met or have an agreement to call when I go and try to find that cache again. I refrain from asking other cachers I know who have found a particular cache that I am seeking fo a clue. Like one of the repies on this post said "It's your game, play it how you see fit". There are no rules against asking for hints and or calling. Ken
  12. I say you can go back. I have seen logs were cachers have gone back to get a TB. I would put one restriction on it, and mind you it's only a thought, but if it is in a high activity cache then I'd say leave it. I place a bug in a very low active cache and have been thinking about going back to get it to place it in another cache. But the key point to all this is they should be moved on. If you wish to have one to keep, buy one and use it as your own personal TB and log it in and out of caches you find. This way you can see how many miles you have travelled to find caches. Coins are cool tho. I like them better than the dog tag bug. Ken
  13. Mopar, Yep I did the same thing just the other day. I did so for a few reasons one it was ready to get out of hand, it was the same stuff being rehashed and three it got personal. However I learned a lot about this forum and what I will keep quiet cuz I am sure to get flamed. Ken
  14. Ken -- believe it or not, I was agreeing with your statement...My smart-alec statement referencing your stats in response to your statement regarding the irrelevance of stats, was nothing more than a smart-alec remark. My post wasn't about stats either...stats are not reflective of experience, quality, or anything other than the numbers themselves. My point is, all of the geocachers I've met have been great people regardless of whether they just found their first or 5000th find. I haven't forgotten what it is like to be new to the game. Actually, I remember my first few finds better than most of the more recent ones. I've only been caching for a year and a few months, which still makes me comparatively new to the sport. And as I said, find/post count reflects nothing more than the quantity of time spent caching. Sorry if I didn't make my point clearer, and I truly meant no offense. That's o.k. me too. I was having a bad night and it went into the morning. I am not the fastest thinker on the block LOL I appreciate you for taking the time to respond tho. Ken
  15. Well I can see a difference of opinion and that's great but I cannot stand aside and let the COAdmin inply that I am a thief. What I did is within a grey area of the rules. I did not break any rules, CoAdmin did by implying I stole. I will close this topic so CoAdmin cannot flame anyone anymore. But I am sure he/she can re-open it and more than likely will. You know how mods have to have the last word.
  16. Sure, it's still a cache as I would go after a cache that lets say was a political theme only. Would I take all the politcal stuff out? Cuz that's what you are really asking and that answer would be no because of the theme to the cache. Ken
  17. What is left in a cache is not the owners. But lets say it is for the sake of an argument, then you as the owner leave it there for trade there by giving the next finder permission to take what they want and do with it what they want. Granted I agree with the beenie baby thing however it is still worth more than the 6 to 8 political(this time, I have seen more in other caches hence the earlier statement of 40 leaflets) 1 page leaflets which you can get on-line and get 100 for a buck. And it doesn't matter who put it there, if it's in a cache I found, it's free for the taking. Ken
  18. Sounds like you are trading down the cache since you took several items and left only one. if you dont like it leave it alone. e-mail the cache owner, let them decide its not your cache. Well CO you are wrong. These beenie babies cost a whole lot more than 100 of these leaflets. But hey don't take my word check all my logs better yet come with me one day. Ken
  19. Didn't say I was offended. But 40 leaflets and 10 mctoys!!! I don't read it I trash the stuff when I see it. Ken why do you trash it, its not your cache. you are not the cache police. Who gave you the right to determine what goes in a cache? if its not offensive by site terms then you have no right to throw it away. You CAN notify the owner and let them decide. It is their cache not yours. Are you saying I am not allowed to trade? I very seldom take anything from a cache and will always leave something and when I do I trade up big time. The swag left in a cache isn't the owners, the site and the container is. Or am I missing something here. Ken you didn't say trade, you said trash, are you telling me that for each item(pamphlet) you take out to throw away you leave a separate item?? NO. Each leaflet $.10 Woodyk Item $3.00 to $5.00 when trading When not trading $1.00 to $2.00. What I do with the item I trade is of no concern to anybody. Is there a rule that says one for one? I thought it was trade equal value or more. And if wish to chastise me for doing that then chastise all who do not trade equal or up. I know what the value of the items I have put in my caches and I have seen the items left, but I don't care. I just want it to be a friendly cache which is the original topic of this post. Ken

  21. I don't get what you are trying to say here. I have been caching 3 months longer than you and you have 20 times the finds. My post wasn't about stats. The longer someone does something the less they remember what it's like to be new at something. Did you forget what is was like to have 67 finds? Ken
  22. Didn't say I was offended. But 40 leaflets and 10 mctoys!!! I don't read it I trash the stuff when I see it. Ken
  23. One of the caches I found quite a few political leaflets in it. The logs don't state who left them in there. I personally don't think caches should be an avenue for someone's political venue. 90 % of all the stuff found in caches are for kids. Us as adults usually just sign the log unless we leave something and/or trade up. Do these people really think they are going to change our minds on how we are going to vote? Do you really want to subject you children to this drivel? I realize that this is a free country all I am asking is that you refrain from these political statements in caches. If you need to place political statements in a cache start your own cache and theme it as such. Thank you all for letting me vent. Ken

    Warning

Yep it is addicting. I didn't cache for over a year and the blood was still inside me all the time. !!!
  25. No but you can buy a serial to USB adapter at places like CompUSA and Office Depot. They work perfectly from what my friend told me. She bought hers at CompUSA. No they don't. I had nothing but trouble when I was trying to use one to connect my GPS to Microsoft S&T. SOMETIMES they work fine, other times they're a PITA. Okay, my friend got one and hers works fine. Must be where you live because I had to order mine. Nobody had one in my area. I used Toshiba on line and it took almost 2 months cuz it was back-ordered. But it works great. Ken
