  1. Congrats from both of us Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Travers:Here's one that might interest you. Mnay thanks for that. We are going up to that area next week. Will have to suggest to Mrs H. to do that one.... she might not be happy about it but I am Peter There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Stu & Sarah:I think distance and terrain comments are probably much more meaningful than an average time. I'd love to see '2 miles on the flat' or '0.6 miles over a stupidly big hill' than 'an hour'. Some of us really are very slow, y'know Stu Why not both sets of figures? 4. Had an idea. How about cache owners putting on their cache page how long they think the AVERAGE person should allow to complete the cache (not including looking for the cache)? I'm just talking about a guide on how long it would take to walk from the nearest/recommended parking point to the cache and back. So that when plan a days caching they know roughly how many they can fit in. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Pharisee:Sorry guys.... as the topic starter I feel sort of responsible for this but things have been a bit difficult on the 'domestic' scene just lately and right now I don't have the time to do this justice. If anyone else want to take it they're welcome but I'm afraid I can't at the moment. Sorry again... John Age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability We'll we offered to do the web page for it, so running it shouldn't be a problem.. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. 6. quote:maybe they should take up train spotting or some other less provocative hobby. Mr H is a train spotter and it's far from un-provocative. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2943304.stm and you'll see the trouble I was in. Yeap that me in the pic. Hence my Anorakaphobia cache at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=72876 Peter There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  7. Well I've just spend this evening sorting out the log for a Travel bug that I had that was grabbed from a cache before I could log it as placed. What I did was. 1) Grab the bug again 2) Do a note on the cache and where is says if you have dropped off a traveller then select the bug from the list. Make sure the date of the log is the correct date you dropped it off. 3) Grab the bug again. 4) Delete the notes made in steps 2 and 3 5) Send an email to whomever has the bug now, inform them that you had to grab the bug again to coreect the log and ask them to grab the bug again and then for them to delete the duplicate log that that will create. Hope this helps but if there anymore queries then drop us a line. This is one of those annoying things that could be sorted out by better programming on the GC site. 8. congrats from both of us There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  9. The big trouble I see is that many places will be booked out for Saturday evening that close to Christmas. Also there is the accomodation issue. Do people want the extra expense of B&B? Especially those with kids? A cache is also going to be placed as well. It will get dark about 4.30 at that time of year. So wouldn't a lunch time be better? 10. I thought it was a best of series.... There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Wood Smoke: The Devils Jump last log 19/10/03 WoodSmoke That's clever WoodSmoke... 12. so who else wants a Saturday evening do? There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Wood Smoke:As this seems to be getting out of hand with birthdays and xmas...........how about holding on the Saturday so we can carry on into the evening? And those who want to can stay on overnight and not have to get up for work on Monday? Perhaps arrange a proper (I'm not saying that you are not organising properly) xmas (and birthday) do with tickets, food etc in somewhere? Well the previous weekend is my birthday treat seeing the lovely Hayley Mills on stage in London. Now the 13th December I'm working as AFC Bournemouth have a home match that day. Hence my saying about the Sunday. Now if people want a more formal do. Then, yes we can arrange that. The pub I was thinking of, which I think is actually in Hampshire (which will please Woodsmoke) can do more formal meals. Would you be intereted in having live music? I can do that as well. Be of the rock sort though... There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

  15. How long do you think that the TB's will be trapped in the cache. TB's are free spirits and move around. Unless you trap all the entries in the UK TB race except mine, then go for it There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Wood Smoke: Kewl a birthday parteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee as well :-) WoodSmoke Well I was going to have it the weekend before but that when my birthday is... There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  17. quote:Originally posted by golddust1000:To me, all he did was log a 'vapour trail' not the plane as he could not actually see the plane or prove it was there? I totally agree. I listen to my radio but I have to actually see the plane to count it... no some people need to read the registration on the plane to count it... which you can't do when its at 35,000 feet
  18. Well Mrs H work place just had an exercise based on the country being completely snow-bound, so I guess Winter is just around the corner. That means Christmas We've been thinking about organising some sort of get together, along the lines of the Chichester meeting. We meet in a pub. Cache(s) are set for the day etc etc. Thinking of meeting up somewhere in the Bournemouth area. So for date. How about 14th December? If we did something, who would be able to attend. Nothing definite yet. Just banding an idea around. Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  19. a T&J bear, is a bear that Tim and June leave when they visit a cache, that some of us (Mr H especially!) will go to great lengths to get hold of one... There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  20. I agree with everything you said Lance. With anything like this there is no perfect solution. Indeed I see this with other hobbies as well. I'm both an aircraft and train spotter. In those hobbies people have their own variations on what they can and cannot count. So it's the same with this hobby.. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  21. Well Mrs H and I, like to trawell round the Charity shops looking for items to swop. You can get some nice items quite cheaply. We get most of our Hedgehogs that way, or via car boots. We are pleased by the number of times a cacher visit a cache immediatly after us and they take the item we have left. Shows that our swops can't be that bad We are also glad that in the complaints about stuff in caches, no-one has said... 'and there's too many hedgehogs in the caches' There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Lance Ambu:So Messrs Hedgehog - you know you don't want to log these dubious caches. Don't weaken, use the force!!!! Messrs??????? Mr & Mrs Hedgehog if you don't mind ;-) Well what raised this question was a cache we did with with a couple. It was a multi. We did all the clues but the final cache had gone. Now we wish we could count it as 4/5th of a find , but orginally we logged it as a 'not found', but the couple we were with, logged it as 'found'. Hence my question. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  23. well done from both of us Mr & Mrs Hedgehog There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  24. Speaking as someone who has a TB in this race, who is still stuck on the starting line, then I would be totally against mailing one of the race competitors.
