  1. Well done Mark, you are a credit to the Geocaching community Peter and Susan
  2. I've bought a few glasses from eBay, so always looking to increase the collection but mainly after Norwich ones. Thanks for the tip on the Stratford festival. We are going to be in London on the 6th. We were going to spend it caching but might pop over to Stratford that day. It should be a good weekend for me. My birthday on the Friday, Beer and caching in London on the Saturday, with a theatre trip in the evening to see my fav. actress Hayley Mills, then a trip on a steam train on the Sunday. BTW I'm a 'seasider' too, living in Bournemouth.
  3. Ohhhhh do we have another Beer Festival junkie here? We love them only been to Norwich and New Forest ones so far but Mr H is building up a small collection of festival glasses from many festivals.
  4. Also there is the 0.1 limit from any part of a multi-cache. So it would be difficult to work out unless you know how many parts every multi-has...
  5. congrats from the both of us Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  6. Well congrats to the winners. We didn't realise that there was another UK entry, Who was that? Guess they must have gone further than Hayley Hedgehog did. Will enter next year, with a new faster hedgehog. This hedgehog is, as I speak, getting race advice from a tortoise and a hare. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. 10. and you said when we met that you couldn't keep up with us and now you are roaring away. Well done, keep it up congrats Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  11. What a tough one to answer. Trouble is that there is no answer to what the 'perfect' cache is. Geocachers come from a wide selection of people and so each is looking for something different. I don't think there is an idea distance. Mr Hedgehog and I are planning a trip up to East Anglia, so we're looking for caches we can do on-route. To break up the car journey, to stretch our legs etc. So we're looking for a few caches close to main roads that have short walks from car to cache. Now if we are staying in a location, then longer walks would be OK.... We are not at that stage of doing Omally's epic caches yet, but some people love the real long tough caches. Nice area are important to us. Like you say, places that you would not normally visit. Worst cache we tried to find was in a lay-by off a main road. There was no nice scenery, loads of muggles and to walk into the trees aroused immediate suspicion as no-one would walk into those trees unless they were up to something, so basically, there was no thought put into that cache at all with regards the enjoyment of the for the finder. Mrs Hedgehog would think that the contents of the cache is important and I would agree to a degree. I think there was other topic on this board about the degradation of cache contents and people not swapping like to like, so I guess that other people think it's important as well. I think the contents are important to caching families more than couples, Something nice for the kids. Things I try to avoid in caches is lack of a suitable parking place, locations that are not obviously public, cache location where you can't see muggles approach eg we had one in a forest where you couldn't see down the path for more than a few feet, so muggles would be right on top of you before you knew it. We were taking a picture at the time Maybe a nice place you can move to away from the cache location whilst doing the swap would be nice. Mrs H. would insist on a seat there as well but I don’t think that’s a priority Hope this helps but it looks like you are thinking about your cache locations and the people that are going to look for it. That's a good start. Happy caching Peter Mr Hedgehog There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  12. We'll be there and if you are setting a cache for the day let us know. We have many items for a xmas cache Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  13. Did any of you see the programme with Ex SAS Chris Ryan last night (Thursday)? He had to find a cache in the jungle then go and meet up with his pick ups. They talked about waypoints etc as well. Just like geocaching I thought. They said that special forces around the world hide caches, in which they hold supplies (eg food, water, ammunition etc) Lets hope that their's don't get mixed up with ours. Imagine filling in the log... took AK-47, left beaney toy There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  14. Dorest??? where is that?? It's not that bad here... but I only live in Dorset because they changed the boundary in 1972. I've lived in the same town all my life but have lived in two different counties. We are Hampshire Hogs at heart There are 10 kinds of people in this world. 15. Sorry to do this to you folks but we think that we're going to have to announce that we will be unable to organise a Christmas get togther as promised. Sorry to let the geocachers who had already expressed an interest down but we feel that we couldn't dedicate the time or funds to organise it at the moment. Mrs H is changing jobs plus we suddenly find ourselves with other commitments. We thought we'd better let people know in good time just in case anyone else wishes to organise something of their own which we'd obviously support. Hopefully we will be able to organise an alternative event in the future. Apologies once again ! Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  16. congrats from the both of us. Seems you've been doing a lot of caching recently. Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

  20. quote:Originally posted by Bugz n Elm'r (& RoadRunna & Twee-T):be thankful these people only want to control geocaching and not anything really important Elm'r Team Bugz n Elm'r From what I could see no one wanted to CONTROL anything. I don't think for one moment that anyone who set up the GAGB are control freaks. They wanted to advance geocaching for the benefit of all and we are grateful for their efforts. Can we also take this chance to wish June a speedy recovery. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

  23. congrats from both of us There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
  24. We use two GPS's. A yellow eTrex and a Garmin GPS II+. We find the yellow etrex is better when you set off and it updates quicker but the other one is far better when you get close to the cache as it seems to be more accurate. We were a bit dissapointed with the yellow eTrex on that front. Peter and Susan There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
