  1. Never tried to post a picture before and am not really sure if Im doing it right, but here goes... I met this chap near High Tor GC186G0 on 4/8/13. Im not sure the quality has reproduced well but if you zoom in you can see the zigzags on the abdomen in the funnel entrance. And this beauty was along the Macclesfield canal around about KT Power #52 GC3RH8G
  2. I love my buffs and have a selection: One is now at the bottom of the Antarctic, having sunk whilst on board the Explorer! It's replacement merrily sports icebergs. I have used them in the desert in Jordan, perfect to keep sun/sand out whilst also being cool and even better when wet. I have used them in the cold of Lapland when we went to see Santa We use them on hot holidays to keep the sun off the kids, including the back of necks I use them for every day, especially when it is cold as I have very short hair I even have two with the old geocaching G symbol on them IMO they are the perfect multi-functional headwear... Never cached in the buff but frequently in a buff!
  3. Does anyone have a bookmark list of the caches on the Sandstone Trail in Cheshire? Is there an easy way to find bookmark lists or does one have to find a cache in the area & see if it is included in a list? Thanks for your help! Cache on!
  4. Indeed multi thanks from Team RoKeT too, and especially for all the little "extras" (Maple Leaf!)
  5. We were pleased to find that one of our TBs that went missing in November last year in its first cache has just turned up! In that time it has had no logs but travelled from Cheshire to the South Downs - must be those phantom cachers again! Another one we have was found by a cacher and then placed in a cache that has never been published in about a year! I know some people use unpublished caches to "hide" coins, but this was a TB attached to a piece of wood which looked interesting but was of absolutley no value - weird! Guess like all these things it takes all sorts but I agree, once you set a traveller off dont plan on it being "available" for long....
  6. I too have found a number of swapless caches recently. I have noted that a cache hider near us (and near to two of the previous posters) may be a young person (judging by comments in previous logs and the handwriting in the caches) so I wonder if it is someone who does not have the money to buy many swaps (yup I know they dont have to cost a huge amount but...). I did fill one with swaps and a pencil as it had plenty of room. I find the wrapping of a piece of paper in clingfilm and calling it a log book slightly dodgy too... But, should we discourage a young person who enjoys the sport/hobby/game and who perhaps doesn't have the support of a helpful parent/spare cash for caches? I like being inclusive...(mostly!)
  7. And another idea..... Try visiting Knutsford where there is quite a range of caches, including 2 wherigos; one is really fun in Tatton Park which can be a multi or a longer Wherigo called Tattoine Incident - it is one of those caches I'll never forget and can be completed in conjunction with Cache Death of the UK in the park too, which is a really great concept. It kinda depends on what your "thing" is...
  8. We really enjoyed part of the Middlewood Circular series last weekend, it isnt too far from Crewe. It is divided into several smaller parts heading north from Macclesfield. There are lots of individual caches in the Crewe area that are worth a visit too. Some were even placed by us!
  9. Thank you Bear and Ragged, that seems to have worked. Now my "sick in the pit of my stomach" feeling has gone and I can really enjoy my Easter Eggs!! The rest of the family are grateful too as there's no more "grumpy mum"!! And now we can have a great break and lots of caching...
  10. I had noted it might erase stuff and was ok with that its the not being able to add any new ones I'm confused about. I tend to add caches by clicking on "GPX eXchange file" on the cache page and saving that to my gps; have never got the hang of PQs! The wherigos are still there though...
  11. I Have had my colorado for about 8 months and have been very happy with it. I Recently read something in the forums about updating it via the garmin website and thought it is some time since I last did that so I oughta check. Logged on, did an update via the webupdater thingy, no sweat. Went out today and discovered that I not only had I erased all the caches on it, I am now unable to get any onto it anymore... Any waypoints that went on as part of caches have also gone... EEEEEEEEKKKKK, and its a long weekend and I am due to go away on Monday for a week which was to include bulk caching Have tried reinstalling the webupdater on my laptop and his pc and every other option I can think of, but still it says "no matches found" So my last hope is that one of my wonderful "friends" out there will be able to assist - PLEASE
  12. I have a Garmin UK Angel of the North which I will swap for something else interesting to add to my collection. Any offers?
  13. Wouldn't "Deal or No Deal" be better for geocachers? At least it has boxes you have to open (they could be changed to plastic ones especially) some contain treasure, some things of little value Or what was that one about open the box? I'm too young to remember

  15. The original idea was to have it come up when a cache page is loading and remain in the background - like motorway mayhem caches usually do.
  16. You'll never guess what they said to me!!!! But I thought the item was about using postcodes?!!!! I still think they should apologise and will tell them so, cos they still portrayed us as mad people who dig up parks!! Yeah yeah so the mad bit may be accurate but....
  17. Please could one of the clever forum users wot is gooder at computers than wot I am give me some pointers? I can report a cache, no sweat, but my daughter is working on an idea that requires a picture as background. I see there is a box to do this but I dunno wot a URL is? Please could someone give me some idiot proof guidance on how to put a picture up and satisfy said daughter? Thank you!
  18. Well done to the whole team, but of course especially Mr and son Bolas Heathens - they have to be the most famous cachers in the UK!! Who else has sooooo many pics of themselves!!!
  19. Have to say I was disappointed by the item and wanted to share a story related to it.... I emailed the One Show about 3 weeks ago, having seen an item on dogs doing Flyball, suggesting they did an item on geocaching. The reply I got was that they weren't interested as they are a "current affairs" (or somesuch silly phrase) show and if it wasnt about knife crime they didnt want to know!!!! So I am especially surprised to see it appear tonight.... Needless to say I have emailed them again to point out their errors and suggest that they now produce a more balanced piece or at least correct the assumption that all cachers go around digging up parks!
  20. Yipppeee that date shouldn't clash with the Cambridge Folk festival so Team RoKeT wont have a family fight over who gets to use the motorhome, so hopefully we will get to stay! Count us in, we loved Harrogate even if we only got to stay for the day. We lost the fight this year! Good luck to those who are going to organise it. Team RoKeT
  21. I love my coins and dont take them to events so I have them in a picture frame which is perspex on both sides. That way I can have them "on display" at home cos I think they are so attractive, and I can turn them round to show the other side for a change!! It also helps to "convince" my non-caching husband that they are not a "waste of money" rather that they are "art"
  22. We once went out for an FTF attempt at our local train station. Mum woke one kid up to go out after bedtime for an "adventure". When we got to the station car park (which probably holds all of 15 cars), there were about 3 Police cars and several officers there, the cache being at the furthest end of the car park! Having driven past several times and with no sign of movement we decided to give up! The next cacher apparently arrived a few minutes later and the Police had gone!
  23. Beats me! I know about signals bouncing in tree cover and the level of error in GPS's however, my colorado said it was out but more importantly I wanted to raise the issue of cache hiders saying they had deliberately not posted the right coords. Its a good cache anyway and the hunt is fun, especially when I WAS FIRST!!!!!!!
  24. I have to confess, I didn't take a reading myself, 1) because I have got a new GPS and wasn't sure how to average it and 2)I had "nipped out" from work and couldn't hang around too long! and 3) I was probably more excited that an adult ought to be! The coords wanted me to be about 28 feet away, which in a coppice was quite a long way (I felt), added to that it was a rather lame hint that didn't narrow the search, it was only my "cacher's eye" that found it!
  25. Nice posting, we are heading to the New Forest this summer too and appreciate the advice. Some replies suggest places to park, we will be in our motorhome which is rather tall, can anyone advise whether the car parks mentioned have height restrictions?
