  1. Late to this, but Not Chosen as a size is Pocket Query option. On the PQ page, it is NOT called, "Not Chosen". Instead it's called Unknown. As an option it disappeared end of April ~ May 2014.
  2. Competition rather than achievement. Examples: challenges based on "First to Finds" or lonely caches are competitions. Challenge cache rule #14. LINKY
  3. Interesting, I'd say, given the history, it's clear that chasing lonely caches was in full swing well before the challenge cache type, and continues just fine without it.
  4. The oldest active challenge I can find is from Jul/01/2008 GC1DQ8R Minnesota Challenge: Lonely Caches Mystery Cache I tried resuscitation as keyword, and came up blank. I bet on there being older caches now archived possibly some that aren't even Mystery type, from back when ALR could be attached to a cache of any type. Utah had a community chasing lonely, using a point system posted on the state site, real early on. Florida had an informal lonely hunt hosted on one of the 2 active state sites, as early as 2003.
  5. If there's someone in particular in your area, you might encourage them to use the opt in page. Few know it exists. Being from, "locations we are targeting." suggests a high chance of receiving a credit. I suspect the OP is in area that is already virt and lab cache dense, likely lowers the odds on being awarded either as both are geographically weighted.
  6. I have two active labs, and was awarded a 3rd. My recall, possibly false, was that after the 1st went active I could ask for 2 (and I did) but after 2 went active, I was just given 3 (not active). I am sure that 3 was simply awarded without my making a request, less sure about how #2 happened. I think once you have one active, at times, you may be awarded another, or be told you can request another. This is not related to getting the first, which you simply apply for.
  7. There have been 3 rounds of Virtuals awarded. Round 1 did NOT involve an application, people were simply awarded them. Found out by email, and having one their unpublished caches list. Rounds 2 and 3 did require filling in an application, and what was required was fully spelled out. From the total number of applications a random draw for 4000 winners, with weight given to areas with low numbers of Virtuals. AL can be applied for, see this Help Center article: (which can found by using Search on the Help Center home page: LINKY The opt in page clearly spells out the criteria: Adventure credits are awarded on a weekly basis, with geographic distribution. Eligibility To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria: You must be a Geocaching Premium member. You must have found at least two Adventure Lab Caches. You do not have a current credit or active Adventure. If you own multiple Geocaching.com accounts, please apply with only one account.
  8. Lot's of Where's George in caches early on. Overlap of internet geekiness between geocaching and the notion of physically tracking dollars online. As others have posted, Geocaching has no issue with cash in caches, but Where's George feels that the normal flow is of dollars is badly distorted by geocaching.
  9. Minor technical comment, the last time a negative attribute was created was 2011. I doubt a new negative attribute is coming. Positive only makes sense for this. Some small fraction of caches need "Audio", and everything else does not. A negative version would just become stats fodder.
  10. Funny, when I started candy in caches was common. People would take something, and not having come prepared to trade, leave whatever was in their pockets. Change, mints (very common), partial rolls of sours, small plastic flip top M&M containers - they were at every check out display at the time. These were much in use as cache containers, and sucked at that job. Don't see it much now. The next craze of awful swag was bubble stuff. Swollen burst bottles of soapy liquid in caches was a constant for a while. Ruined the original log and interior of one of my old ammo can caches.
  11. This got me wondering why Maze was assigned to Event? it's often associated with a Mega or Giga, but it generally runs 3 or 4 days. The Maze I visited ran 4 months! I expect it was only "event_like" on the opening weekend, when there was also a Meet and Greet and the whole place was pretty much taken over by cachers. Because they are now written up on Event listings, even when they operate for several days, all logs are dated for the 'event date" (well, except a few who manage to defeat the event log on event date only module).
  12. Virtually, on the page, the TB is "in the hands of the Owner". It shows no movement. In fact it's been moving since, "it was physically grabbed from the TB table of an event called Clear Water Mega in 2019." As a practical matter, the owner should 1) move it OUT of collection, and 2) make it NOT collectible. Then lee737 could "grab it" using the tracking code, and after that it could properly travel from cache to cache. Alternately, some kind soul might contact the owner and mail it to them.
  13. A couple of the oddest 3+ years lonelies I have would have been well within your ability. Two ammo can caches, with parking coords in a strip mall on US 19, walk through gate (no climbing) marked trails to caches, under a half mile. D/T ratings put them into the intro app. Why no takers? no idea. Sat there for 3+ years unfound. Found regularly thru 2014, once in 2016, and not again until 2020. Once a couple of us went and found them, they've stayed in play. There weren't DNFs on these either. GC2A910 GC2A8KC Just inexplicable.
  14. i've posted an expanded version of this in the Enhanced Search thread. Viewing your own found events, Maze has the place date added Null results, and all other types work. Viewing another user's profile, Maze works, and all other event types have the date restriction. Well, yes, they are. But an odd mix of legacy ways of dealing with events.. Pocket Queries lumped all event types as a single type. When PQs were newish there were two types, Meet and Greet and CITO. Then as more types came along, they were still all lumped into "event" -> until GPS Adventure Exhibit (aka Maze). It got its own selection. Still has it on PQ.. So on profile, GPS Maze is broken out. Old search broke out (breaks out) event types All Event Cache Types Event Cache Cache in Trash Out Mega-Event Community Celebration Geocaching HQ Celebration Geocaching HQ Block Party Giga Maze is not listed under Event types, but it is in the list of cache types. Current Search breaks out events As Giga, Mega, CITO, and "Regular" which is all other event types, including Maze
  15. Any pocket query available for download is seen as a list by the Geocaching.com app. Open the app, load lists. I do this at home, and once the app has caught up on list loading, generally download data for offline caching.
  16. Search finds is broken as regards event types. Viewing my own finds on GPS Adventure Exhibit Search adds a parameter of "placed after yesterday's date". There's a bug report on this, but I thought perhaps it belonged here. Apologies if this is simply an unnecessary duplication https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/topic/371658-gps-adventures-exhibit-shown-in-profile-but-dnf-when-clicked/ When viewing another user's profile, and asking to see specific event types found, that same "date placed" filter is added to all EXCEPT Gps Maze ;-) So Block Party attended by Moun10Bike is a DNF, because of 2022-03-25 filter. https://www.geocaching.com/play/results/?ct=4738&sa=1&pad=2022-03-25&fb=Moun10Bike&asc=false&sort=founddate Different issue, not sure if this is bug or intended behavior - when I click individual event types found by me from profile, I get expected results on Mega Giga CCE and CITO, but what I'd call Meet and Greet returns all, including CITO GIGA Mega. I'd expect that link to break out events types at least to the granularity of Search now, ie exclude Giga Mega, CITO. Minor confusion, on public profile, perhaps something for a future project, All Event Cache Types 178 -> clicking that link now goes to a list of 179. GPS Adventure Maze is broken out separately on profile. But from Search, it's one of many event types referred to as Regular (regular?)
  17. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=27&pgid=662#h_10907428117081648019838660 While gallery images will be hidden from your profile with this setting, gallery images are always publicly visible in your logs and the galleries of geocaches and trackables.
  18. On the pocket query page, go to the bottom and run a MyFinds query. This will return any cache you've found, together with all of your logs of any type. This will return archived caches. https://www.geocaching.com/pocket/ or go to Search and ask for "caches found by me", you can add a "found date" after to that. To limit returns. This search will ONLY return caches which have not been archived.
  19. Isn't this an issue with the gps unit, and not with Geocaching.com? "Drafts from my GPSr". When a draft offers the wrong log type (mostly a second Found it! log) the default change is Write note. As you know your GPS is using Found it! and not attended, just make that change.
  20. Guy placed a lot of caches in a nice state park. One 2 staged puzzle. It went a long long time before it was found, as the puzzle had errors - could only be solved by making the same mistakes the CO had made. It was found finally, as he kept filling in the trails. Finally, the one really nice river view spot with bench was the 1056ft opening ;-)
  21. Search tells you slightly more than the planning map (part of the cache submission process). If either shows a conflict, you need a new place. Neither will warn you if your proposed location is too close a stage or final of a staged cache - ie, Multi, mystery, some Letterbox Hybrids, and Wherigo. The planning map ignores posted coords of Mystery and LBH, while Search will allow you to realize there's an issue - > on Search if a Mystery has Challenge in the title, likely it's at the posted coords. planning map will ignore it, Search will show it to you.
  22. Search can be useful. Let's say you found a nice spot for a cache at N53 37.145 W002 15.580 Put that in Search, it will return all caches https://www.geocaching.com/play/results/?st=N53+37.145++W002+15.580 ++++++++++++&ot=query&asc=true&sort=distance and you'd see right away that there is a PMO cache too close, and others in the area. This won't help with finals of staged caches, but it will immediately allow you to see when your proposed location is too close an existing PMO Trad, or physical first stage of Multi. Which is a lot of what's out there.
  23. HHL linked to "old search", I'll link to new. Which is what you'd get by clicking your own finds from your own public profile - first your public profile link https://www.geocaching.com/p/default.aspx?u=ktzmom17&tab=geocaches#profilepanel https://www.geocaching.com/play/results/?sa=1&fb=ktzmom17&asc=false&sort=founddate Neither link will show you labs! you have 48. Lab count is shown on the Geocaches tab of your public profile To use the Logs as Lee37 described 3 separate URLs, one for Found it! one for Attended (all event types) a Webcam photo taken. It is a nice tidy form of search for finds. As you've attended no events, nor taken a webcam photo, just the Found it URL will work (again, no Labs). https://www.geocaching.com/my/logs.aspx?s=1&lt=2
  24. Use an Archive log. This will permanently retire the page. You'll own it, but it will be very obscure. Assuming unpublished cache, you need to do this from the website. Apps won't show unpublished, even those you own. You find Archive in the log type pull down. And i believe it's in the Admin Tools box on the cache page.
