  1. I read this thread a few days ago, and have been playing around with the program since, I LOVE IT! seems pretty accurate too, when I upload my tracks, from driving around, they match up with the roads on USA Photo maps way better than, on my MapSource City Navigator software. I also found an airplane (looks like an MD80) Flying over Snoqualmie pass.
  2. I did find a slug in a cache once.
  3. Neither. First you read the guidelines, then you can place the cache. Good one!
  4. Agreed. The Early Bird gets the worm, but the second Mouse gets the cheese! There isn't supposed to be any cheese in a cache.
  5. To be clear, I don't think the idea "sux", I never got to the "idea" because of the poor/irritating page design, which SUX! I don't mind ads here and there on a web page, but when it interferes with the function, it sux.
  6. I wanted to see the new micro tubes offered, but can't get to the gear store. Went to GPScity's Geocaching section, they have them listed (in Black and Green), but have no pictures. Will somebody buy one and hide it in my area so I can see it, please.
  7. Congratulations, FTFs are fun. I have a few, they are even more fun at night (even if you aren't FTF).
  8. Looks like much better info than at GPScity, thanks.
  9. I do it that way too, I think people that allow their cache to be approved before they even hide the cache, should be taken to an empty field and told they can't leave until they find the cache (that isn't there). Then they can get a feel for what others go through because they are careless. Hunting for a cache is fun, hunting for a cache that isn't there sux. The "Is This Cache Active?" button should not be checked unless there is a cache hidden at the coordinates (which is what makes it active). The fact that it is checked by default, is what I think prevents most people from even realizing they are doing something wrong. It also isn't hard to click on the map link (on your new cache description page) to see if the coordinates you entered look like the right spot. But some people don't do that either. OK rant over
  10. FYI, At GPScity, it says the following "16 February, 2004: Garmin annouonced the expected ship date of the FIRST batch of GPSMAP 60CS is now 5 March, 2004." And shows the 76cs: "DUE APRIL 2004"
  11. So Sad, Dead Dog? Same Software, Different Database.
  12. So Sad, Dead Dog? Silly Subject, Don't Debate.
  13. This is also the case in several Maryland counties, as well. F_M I guess gray modeling clay and small circuit boards would be bad trade items there huh?
  14. It must really suck to have somebody point a gun to your head and force you to hunt micro-caches.
  15. I saw THIS log by Criminal, looks like you may be closer to that Xterra. Hope you heal quick and had no permanent health damage.
  16. Comparing Hyundais to BMWs would be just like comparing Garmin to Magellans. If BMWs and Hyundais cost about the same. Of course the BMWs are better, you can get 4-5 Hyundais for one. That's just a silly analogy. My Street Pilot III has a waterproof memory slot, it doesn't take SD memory (which sux) but, you get the point. Has any geocacher been asked by Garmin if they would like to have a memory card slot? (obviously geocachers are a large market segment for Garmin) ever taken a Garmin survey asking you what you would do to improve a unit? I would ALWAYS choose to be able to have a memory card slot over internal only memory, even if it cost more (which could be partly mitigated by supplying a smaller memory card with unit purchase, then let me upgrade to a larger one when I can). You could have more than one memory card, for different areas, or just one 1GB card for everything. (2GB SD cards are on the way, and will be cheap enough to be reasonable in less than a year). I just can't imagine reliable market research the proves people want to be locked into one specific amount of memory. I'll take SD any day. I like Garmin, so I can't get it (iQue in the rainy Northwest, isn't a good geo-choice).
  17. I only Pause at those signs, I would think most do, if everybody just stopped there, it would get pretty crowded.
  18. It depends on the scenery during the walk. the nicer the scenery the further I'd walk.
  19. I think "Handicapped accessible" is to broad a term for anybody to really know what qualifies. If I use 1 star I also explain in the description that it is "Wheelchair accessible" which is certainly easier to determine.
  20. Yup, forgot that one, I bet it is the sole reason for the enclosed antenna, to create an air pocket.
  21. At this point some of Garmins info seems out of sync. I really belive the batter life might be similar. If you go to the links I posted above, it shows both 60cs and 76cs as having "Up to 20 hours battery life". The 76c and the 60c both have "Up to 30 hours battery life". The baro and magnetic compass on the cs versions eat more battery. So: The screen size and the battery life for the 60 and 76 models are exactly the same. So the deciding factors should be Memory size Unit size Ergonomics The Marine point database in the 76, and not the 60 76 floats, 60 sinks Did I miss anything? edited to address buoyancy.
  22. Nope, screen sizes are exactly the same: 1.5" W x 2.2" H; 2.6" diagonally, for both the 76c/cs and the 60c/cs Here is a size comparison, I made the screen sizes the same, to get the scale the same.
  23. It's the 4th bullet on the page under "Features". DOH! Now how did I miss that? Thanks.
