This is how it has always been, no? At least for me it has been. I really thought it was different before... Hmm... seems I was wrong -
Geocaching.com site update Jan 17th 2012

I don't know if this change was intended or happened by accident: When entering a new log, the date does not jump to the current date anymore but remains on the date of the last log. -
Stuck compass and distance on a Montana 650
_SoP_ replied to WrongwayUK's topic in GPS technology and devices
Same here - this behavior is also being discussed in the german garmin forum. -
I use GSAK this way (but it took me while to do so): I maintain a bookmark list in gc.com with solved and partly solved mystery and multi caches. In the cache notes in gc.com I enter all information that is necessary to solve a puzzle cache. BUT: You can not add custom waypoints such as stages or other intermediate locations. After loading all information to GSAK, I also get the notes (via cache refresh), and I can add my waypoints as desired. In the end, I add the corrected coordinates and transfer desired caches to my Garmin Montana using the macro GarminExport - this adds, when correctly configured, a yellow sign to a cache that indicates that it has corrected coordinates. Once I found a cache, I copy this one to an archive database and to my finds, to generate some statistics. Sometime, I exchange cache information with partly solved puzzles with some friends via dropbox to collaborate on them. As soon as you get familiar with GSAK, it is really easy. Have fun!

Geocaching.com site update Dec 6th 2011

"Distance from home" is calculated wrong since the last site update. I checked my home coordinates and they are correct, but in the distance calculation for each cache I am considered living 367km north. -

Or you can blame Groundspeak for not dealing with it effectively. +1 -
Wo zieht man also die Grenze? Fröhliche Jagd an alle!

Just wrote my post and some publishing emails came in... but still not the one for my cache

In the Munich/southern Germany area it currently takes weeks - I don't know what's going on, but there is almost no reviewing activity for a while now. Examples: Submitted a multi cache Sept 9, first reaction Sept 19, published Sept 21 Submitted another cache, nothing special, Sept 9, published Sept 17 Submitted another traditional cache October 8, no reaction so far.

Logs now show up again in all browsers, but this page wise auto-fetching thing is annoying. You have to scroll down and down and down... The new Gallery is useless without the link to the logs... Well, let's wait and hope for the next update, focussing more on features for "Geocaching" instead of improving "Challenges". -

Show logs does not work here as well - spinning circle on three browsers (IE9, Chrome13, Firefox6). geocaching.com get worse and worse and worse, instead of concentrating on major issues, you work on "features" that nobody needs, nor wants. Never change a running system... Sorry guys - I spent some money for the premium account because I liked what you provided. Now, seeing that with each update something else breaks, I am seriously thinking about leaving gc.com behind and focus on open platforms. -
I marked a challange as completed, and this challenge was marked as "inappropriate by the gc community", and is therefore no longer available. Since this challenge has been a test for me to see what this is all about, I wanted to remove the log for this challenge - but I can't because access to this challenge is forbidden. How can I remove this "log"? My overall conclusion is that challenges are nothing that has anything in common with geocaching. No need for that, unnecessary, at least for me.

I use c:geo on my Galaxy S for a while now, but just as a backup system if I need more ore updated information than available on my Oregon 300, which ist far way better to use in the field than any smartphone (battery runtime, GPS accuracy, navigation etc.).

I have my Oregon 300 for more than 2 years now, and never had any issue with it. Even though it is a discontinued product, it still gets firmware updates (latest is a beta dated Dec 22, 2010, working fine here). I think there is not such a big difference in the x50 and the x00 firmware so there might even be some updates in the future. Actually, there is no reason for me to switch to a newer version of the Oregon, so I will wait for the next generation and maybe upgrade later (if features are added that are a "must have").
