I'm quite new, (a few measley months), but I dropped my first TB in a cache in a local park. This is a great hike guys! I've done it several times and have taken kids as young as 5 on it. There are many "easy" finds in Enumclaw on your way up to this cache. I really don't want to move my bug....I'd look at it as a failure, but it's been there for over 2 months! I'll give it a few more weeks, or months. Trust me guys, there is no snow here and the whole hike, roung trip is about 45 minutes, if you go slow! DO THE DAM HIKE!!! Prophetically Challenged

I say acknowledge, and move on. I have no idea what the criteria are for approval of a cache are but I would think a simple run through of a profile would be involved. But I guess that is not done. I've run into a similar problem in my area and it IS frustrating. I know some people set up a new account from time to time for various reasons, maybe they want to keep a separate account for HIDES only? I have no idea why? Maybe there should be a rule against that? Shrug? Prophetically Challenged

How often do you keep a trade item and use it? Do you you leave things that you hope people will keep and use? Just wondering. GO MARINERS! Prophetically Challenged

I think I voted the other day, "just the owner"', but now that I think of it....Why should anyone care? The Owner at least should be able to know, but what would he/she do with that info? E-mail them and ask why they are watching? I've thought about watching a few caches to see if an item I dropped was cool enough to pick up, but decided not to. I didn't want the owner to feel spied on. I've only recently crossed over from the darkness of muggle-dom, and I often check the caches that I've found to see if what I left was indeed tradable. I also have a few NO FINDS that I watch to see if they're still there. That's the only reason I could think of to put a watch on a cache, and that's harmless enough. I say at the least an Anonymous button, but I wouldn't mind everyone knowing. Prophetically Challenged

I looked, I read, I chuckled and made a strange bird-like noise that came from my throat. At first I didn't know the sound came from me.. I looked around, no cats near. I tried to duplicate the strange throaty sound to no avail. Posted anyway. Prophetically Challenged

Thanks for this poll, cause I've been pondering the subject.....take them or not? Both of my dogs are big, well not Great Danes, but past my knee. The older one is an Airdale. He is a head strong dog and a good trail pertner, always checking to see if everyone is still in line. (I love that about him) But on short hikes he knows when we turn back and is hard to catch, which is annoying. The pup, (1yr old, from the pound, Lab-Chow mix) is a very sweet dog, loves everyone, but alas, seems to be bred to chase after horses. Not good on a cache hunt! I try to take the dogs with, but sometimes it's just not a good idea. Sometimes the dogs add additional hiking to the hunt! 2 of my last 3 finds involved extra time to be a good dog person. One to go hunt for a rogue pup, the other to put him in the Jeep because he refused to ford a streem! But I do enjoy their company. So I vote..... Sometimes. Prophetically Challenged

That's wonderful that you can be on the move, Gazetteer, but lets face it, most of us in the real world can't pop off to Europe on a moments notice. You have to consider yourself in the geo-minority in that respect. Having said that....(been seeing that phrase a lot lately, LOL) I think there should be an honesty check in the approval process. If you really are a jet-setter, (and I have no reason to believe otherwise) you should be able to place a cache anywhere you frequent. MORE POWER TO YA! My gripe is unmaintained-vacation-placed caches. Prophetically Challenged

I've seen smaller regulars and they weren't as cool. ie: painted 40 yr old tupperware Prophetically Challenged

I have another thought on the subject... Don't we already do that by the enthusiasm we use when we log them on-line? Hmmmm...maybe I'll just start my own 1 thru 5 rating that I'll include in my logs. Prophetically Challenged

I like the idea, but I understand that some will abuse. Maybe it could just an option for the log? That way people could still stick to their belief of "Say something nice or don't say anything at all." An owner or prospective finder could judge all the ratings to make an informed decision. But ratings are subjective. I recently found a cache that was a total bushwhack from the highway, no trail whatsoever, (unless you count elk trails) It was WONDERFUL to me, ending up at an awesome falls that were spectacular! But I know that type of cache isn't for everyone. So I think I've talked myself out of thinking that rating caches is such a good idea! Prophetically Challenged

What a great idea! An "Adopt a Cache" site. I haven't placed a cache yet, but from reading these forums I'm learning what NOT to do. I have learned a few important things: 1) Never assume everyone will enjoy your cache 2) Don't put Ketchup containers in your cache. 3) Don't die. Prophetically Challenged

I like the way you think Mr ChurchCampDave! I guess that's because I was born and raised in Indiana! I think that if a cache needs maintained, and that fact is noted, and the user does not respond in a reasonable amount of time. Say 6 months or so? The Cache should be achived. I'd be willing to be a "cache Police-chick" for those caches in my area that were placed by GEO-Vacationeers! In fact I sent out an e-mail today to a "GEO-Hider" today who I suspect of not living anywhere near their cache. And since I do, I offered to maintain it. No reply........? Don't be so open-minded that your brains fall out.
