Sometime very soon I will become a better person for visiting this cache. . WOW, sept1c, what is it? That one's got me very interested. I've just about got my sister talked into buying a GPSr, (the sis near N. Salem). I'll make her do that one so I won't have to wonder what the "living" thing is. I personally want to visit THIS cache. I recently set a TB to go there for me. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  2. ZZzzzzzz........ Huh? What? Oh, Sure I'd take it! Sounds like a great sig. item. (no pun intended) As a former aircraft welder, who's worked in many a noisy shop, I've come to appreciate the value of a good pair of ear plugs. I use them now when I mow and weed-eat. 3. I used to have my town and state at the bottom of my posts, but I don't think there were many out there that could pronounce it. So I went for a more descriptive location. If you missed my old posts, I live in Enumclaw, Washington, which is somewhere in the apple maggot quarantine area. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  4. AAHHHhhh.......You can just FEEL the love oozing from this thread! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  5. Speaking of weeds.......we came accross a plant on a hike a few weeks ago that smelled exactly like watermelon. It was about 3-4 feet tall and grew in clumps of a dozen or so plants. We thought we'd walked into a watermelon patch! Does anyone know what plant that is? OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  6. Welcome! It looks like you're off to a very good start! Here's my angle on your questions: 1.) No, it is not cheating to read the hints, especially on your first few hunts. After a few finds under your belt you might not need them, but for now, you should at least take them along just in case. 2.) I almost never navigate blindly. I usually at least check out the map to find out the general area. I enjoy the hiking-type caches and prefer not going on a wild search just to find the trailhead parking. 3.) One unit should be enough, unless like cool said, you want to "race". 4.) I print out TOPO maps if I'm going to hike anywhere other than town parks. They come in very handy around here. I like to know if I'm going to have to cross a river and it's nice to know what kind of elevation gain I'm getting myself into. Here's another piece of advise...Always waypoint where you parked your car! You can imagine the results of not doing this! I hope you have fun out there! (I'm sure you will.) Looking forward to seeing your first adventures here on the forums! Good luck OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  7. Three cheers for AuntGiGi!! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  8. Uhmm......How can they find 10 caches before they can find their first? Are you saying they can't log a find until they've found their eleventh cache? That's something to ponder. Who let all the Riff-Raff in here in the first place? OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  9. quote:Originally posted by JamesJM:NO! JamesJM says emphatically. Why? Because I can't. No invention known to mankind is harder to master than zip-locking a zip-lock. I pull, I stretch, I curse all the right curse words, then pull and stretch again.....no luck. I have come to believe that ONLY women can actually zip a zip-lock bag. Oh sure, I know men who "claim" they can...I don't believe them. They are liars. Us men are simply not anatomically able to zip a zip-lock. I have, in the past, had to carry the zip-lock 1/4 mile back to my wife, patiently waiting in the car, to have HER zip this creation from hell and then return it to the cache. I use saran-wrap..is that what you call/spell it? I can wrap with the best of them. I can wrap anything and leave all you zip-lockers gasping in awe. - JamesJM ROFLMAO! Too funny! I bet you can't open those plastic baggies in the produce section either. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  10. This one is for those who have been following the WOO HOO thread in the getting started forums. Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  11. It was hard to work with! (maybe it's the beer/wine factor?) All I need to do now is remove my invisible cap and cover the cache.......hehehe OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  12. Ewww......This is a toughie, GeorgeandMary! I'll Be BACK! LOL Might take awhile? OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  13. Bring 'em on, George! This is fun! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)

Or, if you're not using an Intel-based PC, or you want it to actually render correctly regardless of what character set is in use by your target audience, or you think people who use pocket queries shouldn't have to curse the day you were born, do it the right way and type ° ( ° ) http://parkrrrr.com/pirate.cgi.gif Hmmm? There I go again thinking everyone is using an intel-based PC. Thanks Fuzz, I sure don't want people to curse the day I was born! I sit corrected. 16. From the general forum post, I see they are from the Lake Stevens area. Unfourunately that's pretty far from me. If they ever respond to your e-mails, I'm sure there are folks in that area that will help you out. Try posting in the "Northwest" forum. It looks like they bought a GPSr, found a few caches, lost interest and moved on. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  17. That's a funny story! Too bad you didn't have a camera ready! A picture of that would have been a nice addition to the TB page! Sometimes life deals you very funny coincidences, and leaves you with a great memory to laugh about for years! Here's on of mine, (totally unrelated to caching)...... I was 19 yrs old, bopped into the Planned Paretnhood office to get my monthly supply of birth control pills and in the lobby were two young couples sitting, holding each other and looking very glum. As I was paying for my goods, I realized that the song that was playing in the lobby was......."You're Having My Baby" !!! I still get a good chuckle when I think about that and it's been many years since then! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  18. Sorry, I've never heard of that username. I will keep an eye out for it, though. What cache did they pick the bug up from? Maybe if I can see their profile I can see if they live near me. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  19. Is this still in the planning stage? I'd love to enter, too! Will we be able to enter more than one bug? OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)

  21. I believe this photo is hanging on the wall at Groundspeak headquarters. (just a rumor) FOUNDING FATHERS Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  22. Hmmm.....that is odd. If I were you, I'd just manually input the correct waypoint into your GPSr. I hope that helps. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)

  24. I think that would be a nice feature, also. Yesterday I dropped off a TB that was a cute little lion that had a zippered pouch in it's back. Just before I dropped him off, I put a 50 pence coin it it's pouch. When I got home, I was going to add a note but forgot to write down the tracking number. I think the reason it's that way is so some joker, and there's a ton of them out there, doesn't go around "virtually" moving bugs from here to there. That would create TB mayhem. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  25. quote: There was one time we didn't sign the log. We found the cache. It was an ammo box. We opened it up and..........someone had taken a big fat dump in it. We promptly closed it back up and signed the OUTSIDE of the ammo box with a sharpie marker. Came home and let the cache owner know about the mess. It was fixed right away. This is the only time I can think of when we have counted a find without actually signing the logbook. EWWWWW! EWWWW! GROSS!!! OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
