  1. When I upload the waypoints I make sure to re-name them, (usually a condensed version of the cache name). I save them in "My Documents." Then I simply go to "Start", then "My Documents", then click on the waypoint I want. Make sure your GPSr is on and connected to the PC cable. Click on the GPS tab on top and click on "Send waypoints to GPS" Hope that helps. OG Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  2. While on a week-end vacation this summer I bought a little pewter gargoyle at a knick-knack shop. My idea was to turn him into a TB. I paid about $10 for him. Barnaby Wilde is what I named him. My husband told me not to send him off as a traveler, he said someone would just take him. Well, I didn't listen and sent him off and , sure enough, he went missing before he even left the cache I started him in! Does the value of a bug coincide with the likelihood of it going missing? I guess I'll just chock this up as a lesson learned. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  3. Strange? One of my bugs, ALKEY, was dropped today and has traveled only 30 miles and now has a map. Maybe you can e-mail the admins. and ask them What's the deal? Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  4. I like the term "muggle" and I use it. I also like "civilian", it works, too. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  5. quote:Originally posted by suemac:I'm in Gainesville, FL and we have some in the area that calls himself an Exterminator. He (they, she, it ... yeah, I like 'it' for the lowlife) takes travel bugs and leaves an extermination card. I presume they're gone forever . I've started watching nearby caches and if I see a TB dropped off in our area I'll try to pick it up, even if it means it will be a few weeks before I can take it onward. Will also contact the TB's owner, but surely they'd rather have their TB safe and slow than exterminated. That's scary! One of my new bugs, ALKEY is headed for the Keys. I hope he can avoid this loser. If you look at the cache that is ALKEY's goal, there a ton of missing bugs there. I guess all I can do is cross my fingers! Maybe this moron will lose interest. 6. Wow! That is very cool! I wish him luck and Godspeed! Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  7. It will show up automatically once the bug moves a certain distance. I think it's about 50 miles, but I'm not sure. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  8. Good news! Ollie is on the move again! Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  9. It depends....I like to know where I'm going, then I decide what shoe to wear, (well DUH, I AM a woman!) Three cheers to your wife! She's got it going on! Why in the world do you question your wife's shoe choice? Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  10. quote:Originally posted by Team Mixster:Was I the only one to have to look up 'deleterious'? I had to look that one up too, then I had to look up "noxious" too, so I could give my daughter a better explanation, other than......ICKY. The really funny part about this sign is that it's at a pool that is for toddlers only. It's a tiny pool that could fit in just about anyones backyard. Heck, it would fit on our deck! (I'll try to get a pic of it's size). I saw a cache somewhere that asked the finders to use certain words from a sign when they logged online, I just might use rule #4 in my cache. 11. That's a neat idea, bigredmed. I just might do that! Thanks Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  12. I found This Jake the Mallard, and This Jake the Mallard by searching in the "seek a TB" section of the TB pages. See if you can figure out which one is the one you had and e-mail the owner. I hope this helps. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  13. I found this sign while out looking for a place to place a cache today. I got a kick out of it and thought I'd share. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  14. Not unless you want 2 e-mail notifications. You will automatically be notified of the bug's movements. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  15. That's a thought, yumitori. The only thing is that the store is open for business much longer than our library. It would limit the time and days people could seek the cache. This is a small town (approx. 11,000) and the library closes on Sundays and on holidays. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  16. Hmmm....I guess there is a chance that it could go missing. My neighbor on one side is a pharmacist there and the neighbor on the other side works in the deli. We are also close friends with one of the butchers. I'm sure they would keep a daily eye on the board for me. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  17. No, I don't work there but I know a lot of the employees. I was thinking along the lines of a small packet of sheets that I would re-fill as needed. Kind of like a "take one" deal. A person wouldn't have to go all the way in the store to grab one. The store is not open 24 hours but I would put the business hours on the cache page. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  18. Yes, that was my thought. I didn't want to jeopardize the caches approval because of a commercial problem. This will be my first cache placement. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  19. make up a puzzle sheet for a "mystery" cache and post these pages on a grocery store bulletin board? The board is located between the two entrance doors. (air-lock section) Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  20. Try geo-code. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  21. Can I put an un-activated (still in the package) tag in a new cache? I know a person will more than likely be able to activate it, but will it allways be accociated with me? Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  22. Wow, Cannonlaw, that's actually an uplifting story. That definitely was a very long time for a person to hold onto a bug. I'm happy Opus is moving again. I did email my bug-hugger with a polite message and received a response within a day. He was apologetic and said he would move it on in a couple of days. I still don't get why people can't understand that when they choose to take a TB from a cache instead of some other trade item, that they are taking on the responsibility to move it in a timely manner. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  23. Is it just me? Why do all puppets type in the same "misspell" every word manor? Same dude different sock? Maybe I'm just a new observer? Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  24. dum-dee-dee-dum..... When I read this post this morning my first thought was that.. although I agree that there must be something out there causing this strange unrest from the "main" posters. i.e. the squeeky wheels, there MUST be something in the stars that's causing so much dissension. But then my more rational side came through. I thought..NO NO, This is all on the shoulders of Martha Stewart! This woman has caused a rift in the space/time continuum! Thank you all for keeping me focused on folderol and not posting a silly comment to theHow can I make a pretty mapthread and plummiting it into an untimely grave! I've learned so much in such a short time! Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
  25. I assume you've tried to contact the owner? If so, and you haven't received a response, I'd try contacting the admins. to get the bug's #. Has it been a long time since it went missing? It might just turn up? I hope you can get the # . Good luck. Og Prophetically Challenged (or is that Pathetically?)
