"Jeremy mentioned recently that virtuals will be back by the time of the Block Party in August. I've seen the announcement somewhere on Facebook, but it has scrolled off". Quote from the latest updates forum. Here's hoping...

Bomb scare Wetherby over internet treasure hunt box

Another thought that springs to mind, did the cacher explain caching at the scene / when stopped. Having been in the same situation a couple of times myself it certainly stops all the rest of the fuss. If they had gone beyond that before they caught up with him then someone in the police would need to justify their reaction and the disruption they had caused. It's officially not a blame culture in West Yorkshire Police... honest.... . -

Any chance of a new question? -
Well I have to say that we have had the total opposite of your experience with Dalesman X. He is always helpful and friendly... even when you give him a pile of poo to sort out (As we have on occasion!!)_When you look at the number of caches he reviews per day it's huge. There are always times when a reviewer is 'off line' with holidays etc and this may account for your delay. As to not replying we have never found that from any reviewer. All the reviewers are volunteers and, as he is also an active cacher, the time he gives should be appreciated. :) MaxKim

Also check with whoever gave you permission for the cache... That may shed light on it. Ivy is bad for trees and as has been mentioned it may be maintenance by them...

Thanks MrsB, I had just noticed that.... I was logging them today from yesterday and forgot the American mm/dd bit and changed the wrong 5 to a 4 Max

Geocaching.com site update May 4th 2011
maxkim replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
Hi there, since the site update when I try to log caches they seem to log ok but then the logs don't show, either on the cache page or the smily on the maps page.... but the margin shows the find??? see pictures I'm using Safari on a Mac... It was fine before... The only one that has worked was one where I dropped off a coin at the same time as logging... -

Harsh! Reviewer archiving with NO notice
maxkim replied to rutson's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Ahh depends if you were up the mountain anyway or if you climbed it just for the cache... I've done both over time and it would make a difference. MaxKim. <_< -
Would have to be....

Phew! This one of mine would be OK. GC2C1NN It's neither a scrap piece of paper or in a plastic bag. But still a cracking cache and one of our favorites.... MaxKim

Who do I contact to unarchive a cache?
maxkim replied to Toby's Jugs's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
...even though the reviewers COULD un-archive them if they really wanted too!! I know of a cache (not in the UK) which was un-archived nearly ten years after it was archived! Mark If only it was an Ape cache in the UK... LOL -

Looking at the cache, reading all the logs on it and the fact that DalesmanX has seen the actual cache suggests there is more to this than meets the eye. As Ian has said, when you read the final log it was intended to be a temp disablement which would be the correct response (Note to self to sort two of our caches today!!!) and just a mistake that it was archived straight away. (Heavens knows I have even hit the Found button instead of the DNF button before now) Cheers MaxKim -

The main difference is the distance from the given co-ords to the end.. for a mystery it needs to be close by, but for a multi it can be any distance... Cheers MaxKim

Yes, but we also had to climb over cliffs, wade rivers, cut across fields etc... when a map would have things so much easier... maybe it's going soft... but that's progress. Oziexplorer works well on a PDA, not sure about phones though... Max

Well here's one we caught near to Urban View in the Meanwood Valley, North Leeds. It was a disused 4 story warehouse, no one was hurt but we knew we were getting warm looking for the cache...
