  1. I hit 100 just over 2 months. I cache everywhere I go... so I've pretty much got every cache on all my regular travel routes. So I've slowed down quite a bit.
  2. I wasn't very excited with the Colorado until I learned I could do away with a seperate PDA... As it would simplify and streamline my Geocaching.... Ahh if they only had Linux support too!
  3. Travis... I have inside connections to the Red Lion Inns in Yakima, I may be able to get some sort of group discount for those staying overnight. Please contact me if your interested.
  4. I wasn't trying to rat anyone out, but rather see if this was acceptable and generate some serious conversation. I could have listed a few other caches that have changed types, but only provided two as an example of what I was talking about. I've been looking at caches in my area locally as I work on the Baker's Dozen challege, but the WA Fizzy challenge also has some cache type dependencies. I'm sure there other challenges that also have those as well.
  5. Guess it doesn't much matter now as the caches have been archived.
  6. Congradulations to Ms. LOLFunny for getting her 100th cache.... GC4F72 - "THE IRON WORKS CACHE"
  7. I have ran across a couple caches in the area that were once multi-caches but are now Traditional caches, this change is usually the result of cache owners either having a difficult time with muggles or have keeping up with maintenance. Two such caches are GCGYVP and GCH2VM. I find this to be a bit irritating as it interferes with other aspects of the game. Whether it's the statistics on your find types as well as making the use of the find in other caches such as many of the different challenges such as "A Baker's Dozen". Wouldn't it have been better for the cache owner to have archived the cache and submitted a new Traditional? Is this allowable in the rules?
  8. I wasn't too jazzed about the Colorado..... until I saw that sneak peak. I love the GPS/Paperless caching in one device. One less thing to carry. Steep pricetag though at 600.00!
  9. I am currently running a Cannon Powershot A570, I purchased it because as a replacement for my Nikon Coolpix 4300. I wish my Nikon still worked but I got a great deal on the Powershot so I chose it based on price/positive reviews. However I feel the picture quality just isn't upto par with my older less megapixel Nikon.
  10. This one looks like a possible Snow Cache Packwood Lake Trailhead -- GC13A0V
  11. That is a great start... maybe we can add a few more to this hopefully on the southern of the Cascades?
  12. Do people have problems with the these gates?
  13. Would like to get to generate a list of caches here in Washington that would be great to go get with the help of snowshoes. So anyone know of any?
  14. I saw a topic similar to this and basically when someone wanted to get a TB to across the country or world they could send it to one of these? Was I dreaming this up because I can't seem to find it...
  15. Maybe if he added a hard hat!
  16. As far as maintenance on other owner's caches; if the owner is absentee or has lost interest you can always try to contact the owner to adopt the cache. If there is no response from the owner you can always suggest it to the adoption thread and move forward that way. That is how I became owner of "Cached In" (GC7F45) and this cache for as old as it is, still has decent activity. Basically, if the cache is run of the mill and the owner is not performing maintenance then I post a maintenance on the cache pages. After about 3 months of no maintenance I usually contact an admin/reviewer to post so they can post a warning notice. However, if the cache is particular creative or worthwhile then I try to suggest it be adopted out in the adoption thread.
  17. It didn't specify a time frame, I was merely planting a seed of thought. I didn't mean to aggravate anyone, I did see the upcoming CM's in his profile. I will probably do the Yakima II CM.
  18. That was my very first CM and it was an absolute blast!!! Thanks to Travis and all those who made this event happen. I'd certainly love to see one in the tri-city area of Tumwater, Olympia, & Lacey. It's been almost 4 years since the last one occured. I think being the mid-way (drive time) point between Seattle and Portland, we would get a lot of cachers from both regions as well as the locals from neighboring counties such as Mason, Graysharbor, & Lewis. So here is to planting a seed.....
  19. The Bubble Pack FRS/GMRS radios have a lot of misleading information right on the packaging. Most claim now "5W" of power. Well the 5W of power is usually ends up to equal somewhere about 1.6W to 2W of ERP (Effective Radiated Power) from the antenna. Regardless of what the packaging claims for distance 8, 12, 20 or 28 miles communication distance are ludicrous at best. In order to get those kinds of distances, one person would have to stand on top of a mountain and the other in a valley within line of sight just so the curve of the earth isn't a problem let alone all the other obstacles. Also the ERP levels are so low transmission is really hampered. Before buying any radios, get their FCC ID numbers and look them up here the FCC has the ERP information listed for that particular radio model. Also if you want to use the "High" Power setting and the GMRS channels, then you must send $85 to the FCC to get your operators license. The ICOM listed above is a really good radio and is repeater capable.
  20. Oh Curmudgeonly one... I took me over 6 months to decide on which pair of snowshoes to get, after tons of research and speaking with some serious experienced snowshoe users (Above the Arctic Circle regulars). Tubbs Mountaineer 36", so far I have been really pleased with these shoes. I also have some Bear Paw type shoes for established/packed trails.
  21. www.gpscrazy.com No longer exists. It's just a parked linking domain. I wonder if they set up shop under a new name?
  22. I won't be able to make the Dinner friday, would there be another way to get those updates?
  23. Difranco

    Stolen Geocoin

Can you do that? Is there a Geocacher blacklist?
  24. I think Mt. Baker will be too far to travel for me round-trip single day..... hmmm. However if snowshoes are involved, I will probably figure out some accomodations But definately want to get in on a second assault of that cache DNF'd last HOTM.
