"Geocaching: the perfect sport for introverts!" When office supplies, laptops, and cash come up missing, check that guys pockets. I'd love to give that guy a psyche test. I mostly disagree with that last sentence. Although there is truth in it. All the cachers that I have met a pertty much social types. I agree that this is a sport and not just a game though. I've already lost 20 lbs. geocaching. Sngans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow....
 2. Well, Pepper is a Cutie. As she gets older her herding instincts will develope. Give her some objects to herd, so she doesn't try to herd you, your kids, other pets, etc. My border collie, Moe, amazed people with the way he would herd his toys. Large, plastic, milk and orange juice bottles mostly and a few balls. He would destroy the balls, but I think he considered the containers as his "cows." Spread them to the four corners of your property and they will be back in one pile in no time at all. I also taught him "get the paper," but a few times he herded every paper on the street. Doh!!! Always remember: Aussies/Borders/and Bernease, are about 10 to 12 times smarter than the average breed. Keep 'em challenged. Sngans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow....

 6. quote:Originally posted by TinSparrow: In another thread, Jeremy has mentioned that the Pigman's account has been disabled. This probably explains why he no longer add his logs to the website, and maybe his habit of taking entire caches (instead of just travel bugs) is a result of this action. I don't know what can be done about this problem, but I'm willing to engage in discussion of ideas. Convert the caches in the area to "members only" caches. Talk to the cachers in your area. Just a thought. I mentioned in another reply about this guy that he is exhibiting predatory behavior. That is not a good sign. Forums and cache pages are where he will get his jollies over the trouble he creates. Ask someone in law enforcement about this type of behavior and you may decide to travel out of his range to enjoy our little sport. The best thing anyone can do is pretend he doesn't exist. Keep replacing the caches quietly and don't give him the pleasure of knowing your displeasure. Sngans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow....

George George, You have taken my verbosity and boiled it down to one sentence. Thanks Gopherlady, You will have a blast with a personal TB similar to mine. Alethio-wachamacallums, I had to look that 50 cent word up and was intrigued by the result. Seeking truth is a noble cause. If I forget Snoogy in haste, I still log him into the cache. Snoogy is a representation of me and I had to be there to log the find. I haven't forgotten him much, but it happens. Hey, speed limits are mere suggestions to me, till I spot the fuzz. Psst...gonna get that book... Sngans Snoogans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow.... 13. quote:Originally posted by mobyrick:I was wondering about that myself. The first cache I went to had a TB but I didn't take it because I didn't know anything about them at that time. It's in a location that doesn't seem to be visited much because you have to go by boat so I was thinking about going back and helping him along the way If it was my bug, I would be thrilled that you made the effort. I made a 600 mile round trip to pick up Titan-34D. It was only about a hundred miles outta my way though. The owner, a serviceman, sent me a long letter from Iraq, thanking me for moving it and my plans for dropping it off near its true origin. Go for it! 14. I'm slowly getting the word out. I have many friends over there that would find Geocaching as fun and exciting as I have. I'm keeping an eye out for new caches in Jeddeh and Dhahran. I'm still campaigning for a position over there. Not much need for my specialty though. I have even learned to speak, read, and write Arabic a little. By no means fluent, or even very conversational, but I could survive outside the compound very easily. Sn gans Snoogans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow....
 15. quote:Originally posted by 9Key:What causes folks to do these types of things - plundering caches, stealing TBs? I just had one of my caches totally emptied, leaving the container as it was hidden. We've had this crap in Dallas and Houston very recently, and I bet other areas have too. Why?!?! http://www.texasgeocaching.com

It's the weirdo factor I was talking about at the Tx. Challenge. Remember: I was talking about the fact that I was amazed there wasn't one in the group, since we all met over the internet. I observed how normal everyone was; driving nice cars and dripping in hardware; myself included. We were all instantly friends. I was amazed. Then, when everything was winding down I mentioned a strange email that I got from that one guy and nearly everyone in the Houston area instantly knew who I was talking about. These are anti-social types that we will never see at our event caches. Some, I'm sure will never join, or they got an account to check profiles. I wouldn't just jump to to the conclusion that it's kids in every case. I hate to be a gloom and doom kinda person, but as I have some training in personality profiling, we are talking about predatory behavior. Food for thought...Myself, I bypass that guy's caches and don't touch is t-bugs. Sngans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow.... 16. quote:Originally posted by 9Key:IMHOP a TB should physically visit each cache that it is logged into. I'm sure we'll talk more about this in Hunstville, huh, Snoogans? http://www.texasgeocaching.com I totally agree as a matter of personal integrity. My personal TB, Snoogatola, travels in my pack to every cache even if I don't take a pic. If I meet a cacher they can claim a bug find for meeting me and taking a pic with the bug. No pic/No find, but I digress. My point is this: If someone wants to see 5 or 6 figure mileage on their bug page; It's their lie. Let 'em make it big as they want. They paid their $6.50 and it's their show. Take Virtual Victor for example. Should he be in the top 10 section? Moot point. There was no rule against a virtual t-bug and he's near the top of the list. Good for him! He's grandfatherd either way. I had a good time with that bug. Met some nice people through email as we fought over him. It was a blast. How is that wrong? I don't see Jeremy or Brian handing out cash prizes for mileage any time soon, so why should anyone feel they are being decieved? I refuse to get that one. Hey, Gopherlady....Ease up on the exclaimation points. I think you have started a very worthy topic. You should have specified that you only wanted people who agree with you to reply and I would have left it alone. Thanking you in advance and apologies for any hurt feelings........ See ya at HIH 9Key. I have more Hornitos and Midori this time. I'm gonna hurt ya. No excuses. Snoogans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow....
 17. As far as I know, no one is handing out prizes for the most miles on a TB. They are private property placed in public trust and what ever floats the owner is fine with me. Why would anyone want to police someone else's property? I have 108 (108 not a type-o) of my own and would not appreciate someone trying to change my data due to some real or imagined suspicion. PS - I'm not trying to start a heated argument. I just don't understand why anyone would care. Sn[][]gans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow.... 18. Thanks for the info M&M. My Rolex is in the shop right now, so I know what it's like to go without. I noticed that there was only one cache in the Dhahran area, so I didn't think any Aramcons were into it yet, but I was hoping. If I get my way, there could be a few more popping up around there. I have our 7 Habits Facilitator very interested in it as a "Sharpen the Saw" exercise. There is one cache way out in the Rub that I noticed. Man, would I like to bag that one. Keep up the good work over there. I can guess what you'll be doing on RePat. Sn[][]gans The greatest labor saving invention of today is tomorrow....
