1. I was one of the host of complainers two or three weeks ago when the mapping was first being converted. After watching the evolution over the last few days - I am now firmly in the 'this is better' camp. I was certainly displaying that unflattering trait of 'resistance to change'. Map size change buttons on the top left work fine for me (XP). Like the cache list on the left. Page is well organized. Didnt lose the other mapping programs like I first thought - I was just on the wrong page on the site.... Thanks for hanging in to complete some difficult work! Codge-WV
 2. My reply which I put in the wrong place last nite: am attempting using mapping for first time today. see we are on to the new maps again. As of right now - using zipcode 45750 the mapping is missing various random blocks. cant get a full map on any position by moving around. Also appears we have lost the ability to select other mapping sites. This is a very helpful feature as the sat views in other sites are superior in detail in many cases to the google mapping. in more rural areas google mapping is pretty worthless for any sort of close detail. My vote is still for the old style mapping Thanks, Codge-wv Today - am looking at new maps at work computer, same problem with parts of map are gray and loading just keep churning (using Win XP and IE7). Like the idea of old maps with updated features but keeping the ability to move across large areas for those of us in more rural areas. Also using the pdf print feature as a premium member, so dont appreciate losing that..... Codge-wv

 4. There seems to be additional problems at the website. When I open an individual cache page, and click on the bar to download an LOC waypoint file, the page goes to HTML code, and wont return. No file download happens. Also read others posts regarding the new mapping. Have many of the same concerns. Previous maps allowed major adjustment of scale for moving across large distances quickly, then zooming in to find specific caches vs location. Not impressed with new mapping as it stands at the moment. operating Dell Desktop with WinXP. Code referred to above when trying to get a LOC file is copied as follows: - <loc version="1.0" src="Groundspeak"> - <waypoint> -
- Hamburger University by TheNOID
<coord lat="39.248817" lon="-81.5558" /> <type>Geocache</type>
</waypoint> </loc> That is all that shows up - and there is now back button on the browser, you have to close that tab in IE and reopen it.
 5. One thing I added recently to my bag is an automotive inspection mirror. Found at Sears in tool department, mirror is about 3 inches in diameter, with a telescopic handle - out to about 36 inches. Very useful for inspecting those hides in holes and crevices where you might not want to stick your hand......
