Red Barron, I had that same question as well. Thanks for asking it! I never got around to asking and was doing things the hard way. Glad to know there's an easier way around it. Thanks everyone! TheDukesofWatrousville~ Cody, Nikki, Duke and Kia ~ the Geo-Mutts -

Couples Caching
TheDukesofWatrousville replied to jarja_grl and G-man's topic in General geocaching topics
I do the majority of the caches by myself as hubby typically works 6 days/week and 11 1/2 hr work days. That doesn't leave much time for caching. He's not as obsessed about caching as I am but he definitely enjoys it. Sometimes though I wish he were a little more into it but I'm more than happy to hit the trails alone too. We don't treat it as a competition as to who finds them first either. Sometimes he does, sometimes I do. We share the GPS and trade off navigating duties. He's not too hot w/ a map so I do most of the trip planning and map reading. LOL We view geocaching as a way to get some exercise, fresh air, see new places as well as an opportunity to spend some time together. Another female cacher here. Heard about geocaching through a newspaper article. Looked up the site and saw there was a cache about 5 miles away. There was a stuffed frog in it and since I collect and love , my hubby and I went out after it. Had no GPS at the time so we just winged it. Found the cache within 15 minutes and that frog sits on my desk now. Got a GPS and we've been caching pretty regularly since. I usually cache alone since my hubby works a lot of hours. He likes caching but I think I've got the bug more than he does. Sometimes our dog, Duke, tags along but I mostly end up going it alone. I love an adventure! Nothing beats a geocaching high! Cache on! BTW: Brunette TheDukesofWatrousville~ Cody, Nikki & Duke-- the Geo-Mutt

I cache alone since my hubby works a lot of hours and on occasion I'll take the dog w/ me. I take him more for company than protection. I recommend your keys as a tool for self defense. You should always have them ready as you're heading out to your car and I weave mine in between my fingers and make a fist so the ends are sticking out. You could always carry them like that while you're caching too. And one of the best pieces of advice... listen to your gut! Your intuition is a GREAT tool for safety. If there's any cachers in the Thumb area in Michigan that're looking for a caching partner... let me know. I'd love to team up w/ you! TheDukesofWatrousville~ Cody, Nikki & Duke-- the Geo-Mutt

I'm a residential counselor to adjudicated males, ages 13-17, in a medium security program. I'm also a Criminal Justice--Law Enforcement student who will soon be completing my degree. Hubby sets up machines at a carbide grinding/cutting tools manufacturer. Duke is our German Shepherd/ Yellow Lab puppy who accompanies us on our "hunts". I work with juvenile delinquents so geocaching helps me to keep my sanity. Cody, Nikki & Duke
