  1. I too was blessed with some new GeoGear. A wool hat with ear flaps, mittens from daughter Duckie and I found some chemical heat-toe warmers in my Christmas stocking. My wife gave me the new Golden Horseshoe map book, which just happens to be where I need to go caching next. Happy Caching to all.
  2. Somebody in the west is your best bet, perhaps around Prince Albert or North Battleford SK or in the Edmonton-Red Deer area of Alberta. Look for caches in N57 52.xxx and any west in the range from W105 xx.xxx through W116 xx.xxx then eMail the cache owners there to see if they can help. Good luck.
  3. Sounds good, and calming, and do-able. What about turning the caches into a great big group thing, rather than a race. That would be novel eh? Thanks for changing the date. I can come now. WooHoo!
  4. Ugh! Painful! 5 DNF's in a day would hurt both the ego and the ratio. I think I've had days like that too.
  5. Thanks for the advanced notice! But... Rats! I can't make it on a Sunday and especially this one as it is the 185th anniversary celebration of the church I pastor in Woodstock. Next time.
  6. For awhile now I have been wondering what my DNF rate was, so I checked today. I have 702 finds, and 38 DNF's for a total of 740 attempts. 38 ÷ 740 x 100 = a failure rate, or a DNF rate of 5.1%. But this also means that I have a 94.9% success rate, which I think is very good. WooHoo! How are you doing?
  7. DNStephens, and hopefully the Mrs. will be there. JoeyF from Hamilton also trying to tweak the work schedule to get there too.
  8. Oct 22 at 11-ish looks good at our end. I'll support that decision. Well done. BTW, Next Saturday, Aug 27th is HarvestFest event cache in Ingersoll. Hope to see some of you there. Bring your flashlights...
  9. Linda and I came down from Woodstock to your spring event, and enjoyed ourselves. I wanted to remind folks that... Oct 8th is the Thanksgiving weekend.
  10. There is a wonderful, un-pub-lished bonus cache to "Grab A Six-Pack" in Brantford. It was scheduled to be a pub-lished bonus cache, but disallowed. Every finder has the option of taking a card with coordinates for the bonus, or passing... their choice. Ended up at an interesting place I wouldn't otherwise have found or visited.
  11. Just did Butterfly Effect and several others in Ipperwash and Port Franks. Ghosts of Horses is a long, sketter-filled cache not good for little people. Butterfly Effect was short and fun, but awash with Poison Ivy so have alcohol based soap for end of trip. There is one on the beach at Ipperwash which was fun and easy and not too far from the water, with only a bit of Poison Ivy near the cache which could be avoided. Return of the Swans was an easy do on the way up or home. Enjoy!
  12. This one, although temproarily archived, is a made-for-SCUBA or snorkelling cache. Ambitious Snorkeller GCJMTR http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6d-088247b9660c I wasn't going to try for it when I was caching in the area in February.
  13. Earlier in this discussion thread, it was mentioned that we're planning an event in late August. Here are the details and the link. HarvestFest 2005 Hope to see you there. Enjoy!
  14. These are my favourite five. Stained Glass Cache (GCJZ7H), great puzzle, great hide Blueberry Hill (GCJTV6) near Kingston, super views and hike (In) The Tree (GC304E) near Kingston, just novel and nasty The Final “Clue” Cache (GCJDGW), a great finish to a super series. GeoCache (GCGK6Q), on the Millennium Trail in Goderich. A great trail, cedar-lined trails above the Maitland River. If I get an honourable mention, it would be The Devil Made Me Do It (GCN9AD) in Cambridge. Enjoyed reminiscing about these great caches. Thanks.
  15. Here is a good start to a new list... just chose a state or province and leave the other boxes blank... it returns a list of everything in the province http://www.timhortons.com/en/locator.html
  16. It was, and I've asked the forum-tech to move it, as they have done. Thanx
  17. Greetings fellow cachers. My friend (JoeyF) and I are planning a trip to the Baltimore area for a combination of baseball at Camden Yard and some caching. Could anyone help us out with a few zip codes or some 'really cool' caches in the area that are 'must-do's' We'll also be travelling south from Niagara-Buffalo area so we'd also appreciate knowing if there are any highway-drive-by cache identifier codes that would return a found set of caches along the interState or along any of the N-S highways? We're aiming to be in the Baltimore area the last week of July and if there are any folks in the area who might like to go caching with us, we'd appreciate the chance to meet you, and have you guide us a bit... or at least, help us find a good retaurant or pub after a day of caching. Many thanks & happy caching!
  18. Keating Technologies in Markham are, or were, the official Canadian repair reps for Palm. http://www.keating.com/Palm/default.htm I've dealt with them in the past and they were great, fast and very thorough. Check them out and I'm sure they could help you.
  19. Tried again at 4:20 pm. Linked from Forum to GHcaching via link. Nothing appeared on the splash screen, clicked "Skip Intro" got a 404 Obkject not found. Returned to intro, got a momentary glimpse at the page, then it disappeared leaving only the links at the bottom and the Skip Intro link. Tried to refresh, but nothing. Link from the bottom of the page took me to home page. So far, that is the only way I've been able to get to the site. I'm using a Mac, OSX, Safari Web browser.
  20. Site seems very odd, URL for home page is http://ghcaching.servehttp.com/home.php on my browser, but the intro doesn't load. I'll try again later and see what happens.
  21. I spent over an hour looking for a cache that had been 'temporarily archived' most of the winter, and no finds since last fall. When I logged it today (Apr 15 2005) , I chose the "Should Be Archived" option and then got thinking that it might have been inappropriate of me to suggest that, and perhaps that was only the owner's prerogative I searched the Geocaching Topics in the forums and saw at least one other discussion on this issue, but it was quite inconclusive as to when that option should be used. What are, or what should, the protocols be for using this option, without offending or embarrasing the cache owner, or being presumptious that the cache is really gone?
  22. I'd go to an event that day too. Sounds like fun and a chance to meet some GeoCache friends from the Windsor area, and only 2 hours or so from Woodstock.
  23. Thanks. I did a search before I posted, but I guess my search terms were too specific. Thanks for the help and the new resources.
  24. Tried that too. It appears that Within country (state) and Point of Origin are two distinct questions and are independent of each other. I can leave with Country (state) blank, but not Point of Origin. So I tried searching from my postal code and gave it a rage of 30,000 miles (enough to cover the world). The pocket Query was accepted but the range was truncated to 500 miles. Is there some hot link for finding locationless caches in a PQ, like there is on the search page? Should there be?
  25. Tried that... several times. I keep getting this notice in red "You need to choose a point of origin, state or country in your search"
