  1. I sent an email through Garmin's website, got a response the next day, but the representative either didn't look at the serial number provided, or thought it was a completely unrelated issue. In his response, which was professional and sincere, he indicated trying a few settings and if I was still experiencing the difficulties, reply to him and we could get it sent in for repairs.

It was a fast response, but since others have called, I thought I'd try it too. I called Garmin (1-800-800-1020) went through the menu options, got to speak with a very nice lady.

After amenities I said, "I have a Rino 120, and it's serial number is within the range for that upgrade". She instantly knew what I was talking about. She gathered all the info, and gave me an RMA number to ATTN when sending in my unit. She said to me that the turn around is pretty quick, it all depends on how I send it to them.

I asked her if they were going to post the 'upgrade' serial numbers or info on their website, she said, "no, because one, it's not a recall, and two, people will think that there is something wrong with their units, when all we are doing is upgrading the hardware."

Sounds reasonable to me. I overnighted it. hehehe

  2. I know this was mentioned before, but I lost the thread and am too lazy to search.

Today my mom put the 120 into her pocket (inner pocket of fleece jacket) and it beeped. I just thought that it lost GPS signal - it actually powered off. It wouldn't power on again. She was just walking, no calisthenics or anything like that.

After opening the battery cover I had to reset the middle battery. It powered on without problems. All my settings and 400 waypoints were intact.

Has anyone else seen this happen with their Rino's?
