  1. Hello - A group of us are planning a trip to Indianapolis in June 2016. Most are attending three days of Indy Pop Con, but some of us would rather geocache then hang out with "YouTube boobs" (as we lovingly refer to them). We have done a handful of the caches in the big cemetery and will probably go back there for a few more, but we are looking for ideas for some great caches in the area. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks from Michigan & Ohio!
  2. I'm looking for suggestions for fun, interesting caches in the Mason, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio or even northern Kentucky area for a trip in mid-March. We will be avoiding long walks on this trip as we will have several kids along. We are willing to travel a bit, but probably nothing too terribly far on this trip. We are terrible at puzzle caches, but love virtuals (or ghost caches as we call them) and just did two multi-caches in a large cemetery in Mason in December and we loved those too. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance. AggieTeam Beal City, Michigan
  3. Thank you for your replies Blue Deuce and MooseMob. My bug, A is for Aggies, is moving once again and hopefully will catch up in our family's TB race to Texas and then back to Michigan.
  4. Four years ago I went out caching with a caching buddy and her 76 year old father decided to come along just for the walk. We found the cache, but needed his help getting it out of its hiding spot. He was completely hooked! She gave him a GPS for Father's Day that year. He will turn 80 this year and is still hooked. He can't wait for our spring geocaching weekend - I'm sure he'll beat us to most, if not all, of the caches we search for. You're never too old for this adventure!
  5. Maybe you can answer a question I have. I had a bug go missing in 2010. My bug was marked as missing about 18 months later. This week it was suddenly "found" and placed in a cache in Colorado. I tried changing the "marked as missing" button to "recalculate distance" and it always defaults to "marked as missing". Do you know how to change this so it shows the bug back in circulation?
  6. I was lucky enough to get to visit Australia for a study abroad program while I was in college. That was before this addiction called Geocaching started, so I'd love to go back for a visit and find some caches. I would love, love, love to complete the Cache Across America challenge. I hope to find my first one next week while in New Hampshire and then take some time in the next few weeks and find the one in my home state of Michigan. Then it will only be 48 more to go and the final in Washington D.C!
  7. We are planning a summer camping trip to a yet to be chosen campground in the Land Between the Lakes. We'd like to find caches in Kentucky, Tennessee & possibly Missouri while we're there. Can anyone recommend some must-do caches? We'll travel around the area a lot - we aren't "sit at the campground" kind of campers - but we won't stray too far away. Thanks for the input!
  8. I second the suggestion that it is likely a lightpole cache in a Wal-mart parking lot. The two "Always" caches I've done were both at Wal-mart's.
  9. I've been caching since the summer of 2006 when our whole family was introduced to it by my brother. I had read a newspaper article about letterboxing and had printed some off to do on our camping vacation in the UP. He said, "hey, I read this about this thing called geocaching . . ." and we were off. We still do both, but lots more geocaching. Our favorites include, Big Bay de Noc Rocky Shore (GCVNJA) in the UP's Garden Peninsula and Mouth of the Two Hearted River (GCGNGK). In the LP - PB-2 River Walk (GCNMWC) is just awesome - it's a 10 stage multi in Mecosta County (I think), near Stanwood and each stage will just make you laugh and shake your head - ANYTHING can be made into a cache!
  10. In Michigan, GC124N7 - this is an Earth Cache called Castle Rock, but it has a giant statue of Paul Bunyon and Babe, the Blue Ox out front which you must pose in front of (among other things) in order to log a find.
  11. Thanks for the advice Blue Deuce. We may just buy new tags and enter new TB's in our race to College Station, TX, that way if the old racers show up they can just re-join the race.
  12. Thanks Blue Deuce. I'm anxious to get my racer back in the game. Can you tell me if I do the same thing for my nephews TB. The difference is that his is missing from the cache it was put in. We recently received an e-mail from a cacher stating that the ziplock bag and paper that lists the destination are in the cache, but the bug and tag are missing.
  13. Thanks. Should I post a note on my TB page just in case the original shows up?
  14. I'm looking for some advice on releasing a copy tag with a new travel bug. A bug that I released in 2007 was picked up by a cacher in September 2008 and has never been released. They have not visited GC.com since July 2008 (strange since they logged a cache and picked up my bug in September) and have not responded to my e-mails. My question is what do I need to do in order to release a new bug with a copy tag? This particular bug was released as a part of a race and I'd like to get one back out racing again. Thanks for any advice. AggieTeam, Michigan
  15. Thanks so much! I'll try that.
  16. Last year I started a TB for a friend's daughter. They are now geocaching themselves and would like to have the TB registered under their name instead of mine. How do I transfer the TB to them or allow them to adopt it?
  17. Thanks to all the cachers who contacted me about this. The Shining Star was successfully "grabbed" and placed in a new cache - Karson says "thanks". Now, anyone heading South?
  18. Check out the Shore to Shore geo-challenge series in Michigan. It is placed along a horse riding trail that stretchs from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan in Michigan's lower peninsula. It can also be done by vehicle.
  19. My 8 year old nephews TB needs some help in New York. His TB, The Shining Star, is in a cache called Kwan Yin's Travels (GCVZ56) but was not successfully "dropped" in the cache by the person who picked it up last. I was unable to explain to them via e-mail how to do it (they've only logged 10 caches so they are pretty new) - I tried - I really did! You can see from the last log (Friskee60) that it was dropped in that cache. Is there any cacher out there who lives near Cortland, NY and could at least pick up this bug and then drop it back in so it shows up on geocaching.com? My nephew would appreciate it. He is in dead last place in our race to the Home of the Aggies (in College Station, TX) and back to the Home of the Aggies (Beal City, MI) so any help getting him back on the right track is apprecaited. Heather (AggieTeam)
  20. I had gotten my family involved in letterboxing after reading an article in the Lansing State Journal a couple of years ago. In the summer of 2006 my brother joined the family on a camping trip in the Upper Peninsula (Indian Lake State Park and Tahquamenon Falls) and he took us geocaching. We were hooked! We now do both on our vacations and on the weekends when time allows.
  21. Hello from Beal City, MI. We've cached mostly in Isabella County but our favorite so far was called Big Bay de Noc Rocky Shores in the Upper Peninsula. There was a post from shortly before we went where the cachers got chased off by bears!
