  1. Awesome! I didn't know about this. I'm hoping to head to Denver for GW14er so maybe I'll try and do this one. How far away from Denver do the caches get?
  2. I last looked at this page I think on Saturday and it wasn't like this. I don't understand what the need for this change was and I think it looks silly.
  3. Hello cachers. There is a partnership/team cache called the World Wide Cache. My team currently consists of cachers from Portugal, America (myself), South Africa and Australia. We only need someone in the Okinawa, Japan area to find the cache there. We have the coordinates for this already. If you are willing to help us with this awesome cache all you'd have to do is find the cache in Okinawa and send the coordinates that are within that cache to either myself or my team member from Europe. The details for the World Wide Cache can be found here: GC1DZFC Here is the link to the cache in Okinawa, Japan: GC1EG5Z Team members so far: Europe - RSiLvA21 America - Sherminator18 Africa - Klipdreifters Trail (AKA HL777) Oceania - Rheneas Asia - [Open] Europe - RSiLvA21 You can reply to thread or message or email me through my profile page if you're interested and I can get you the coords for this cache very soon.
  4. Just as a point of clarification. I don't consider the formation of ad hoc teams (without a GC account of the same name) to be necessarily a bad thing. If 4-5 people are caching together, jotting down a team name does save time and space in the logs, and if everyone indicates in their online log that it was signed as "Team Whatever" it tells the CO why a specific geocaching handle isn't in the log sheet. It's when a team starts to split up and does the 3 cache monte thing or looks for caches, separately, in complete different areas, is when I think that they're just trying to game the system. I completely agree with you. I think that forming a "team" and some of that team goes to certain caches and others go to different caches is not cool. But if you are all together finding the caches and signing as a Team name that's okay in my book. Saves the CO from having to go replace the log because 8 or 9 finders signed in. In the instance of what the OP said though they're caching as a family. I don't see any hurt if they log a find under their team account if say only 3 out of the 4 members were present.
  5. But the only people it's messing up is them. If Sally, Suzie and Eric weren't there for all the finds but the team logs all the caches it is in no way hurting or affecting you. So who cares?
  6. Exactly. It is not hurting any other cachers by a team logging finds if not all members are present. Who cares?
  7. No one is forcing you to find a cache or attend an event to get the souvenir. If you don't care about souvenirs then don't find a cache or attend an event. Who's it hurting to have more geocaching events? I love events, no matter what the occasion is. It is always fun seeing geocaching friends and meeting new cachers.
  8. Really who is it hurting if only one member of a team found the cache but logs it on the team account. It's really doing nothing to anyone else.
  9. Podcacher did an interview with Chris Ronan aka Rock Chalk, Lackey from Geocaching HQ. In the interview in the episode at this link (http://www.podcacher.com/show-543-0-super-sunday/) Chris flat out says that the Paid app will disappear within the coming months.
  10. That's why I said probably. I've just heard guesses on that.
  11. Thank you The A-Team! I was trying to convey this point....

  13. They're not forcing Google to remove it. Geocaching.com is the one that puts the app on the Google store. It is geocaching.com that is removing it. You will be able to keep the app on your phone and use it but there will be no more updates for it. And someone new will not be able to purchase it if they don't already have it. They are making the free app the only app with more features (the features of the paid app) available for cachers that are Premium Members. You'd have to complain to Geocaching.com about getting the refund but I doubt you'll get anywhere with that. Should I get a refund for all the apps I purchased on Android now that I've switched to iPhone? No. That's my own fault.
  14. It's not Google or Apple that is mandating the price, it's geocaching.com. They (geocaching.com) will be removing the paid app from both the Google Play store and the Apple App Store within a year probably and transitioning to only the Free App, currently called the "Intro" App
  15. The ASP Geobash has been a Mega since either 2006 or 2007.
  16. Well thanks for jumping to conclusions T.D.M.22, I visit the website dozens of times a day and I know they have the souvenirs there. So your assumptions that I've probably been to it only once is far from correct. I personally like the souvenirs and the reason I asked was merely because I wanted to take a screen capture of the souvenir with my phone. Why would they be pushing all these souvenirs lately and the new features on the app and not have a way for cachers to view them on their phone? I just think it would be a nice feature to have. Not everyone likes souvenirs but some people do.
  17. Why doesn't the Intro App on iPhone show you your souvenirs? Geocaching.com has been giving out a bunch of different souvenirs and anyone using the Intro App can't see them from there. I am a Premium Member and just switched to iPhone and don't want to pay another $9.99 for the paid app that is no longer being developed and will soon be gone. I know the paid iPhone app allows you to see souvenirs.
