  1. Hi all, I recently purchased the latest version of the MapSource for the Garmin units, and noticed that it's not very detailed for Northern Ontario. For Southern Ontario, it appears to be very detailed, showing the rivers and lakes, but for areas such as Timmins, it simply only has major roads and major lakes. I'm not sure if I'm using the software wrong. Can anyone verify the accuracy of the land for Northern Ontario? In addition, I was hoping that the software would be better for smaller islands off of eastern Georgian Bay. But it isn't, it just shows the shore line. Which software would you recommend (if any from Garmin), that would be more detail for Norther Ontario, and better island coverage off of Georgian Bay? --- I was thinking the TOPO version would be nice, but before I spend more money, I want to see if it's actually that accurate for northern parts of Ontario. Thanks to all repliers
  2. Hi all, I have a quick question regarding my Garmin Legend. This is what I would like to do, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it: Let's say I'm standing at a Waypoint I just created, and would like to move 100 meters infront of me. How can I programmically set this on the GPS Unit? Or how can I set my waypoint to be 100 meters infront of me? Thanks.

Just to let you know, I have the software for sale in the GPS Garage Sale section: http://opentopic.Groundspeak.com/0/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=1750973553&f=3500994783&m=7510977355 I'm selling it for $75.00 + shipping. Where are you located?
  4. Are those Topo map's uploadable to an Etrex Legend? If so, how do I go about purchasing some for a given location in Ontario? Thanks
  5. Thanks for your reply all. I just finished upgrading to V3.20. It was very fast, and did not overwrite any information (Waypoints, Maps, etc.). It took a total of 1 and a half minutes to complete. I will let you know the results. Thanks
  6. Has this happened to any of you Legend owners with the new firmware: The information becomes scrambled. I used my GPS last weekend, then decided to look over some of the trip computers information, and the max speed said 204 km/h?! I surely have never gone that fast. The UTM was also said to be a problem. I contacted Garmin's support via e-mail, and they said there was no known problems with the V3.10?? Hmm, I'm wondering if I should just install V2.50 again.
  7. Is there a way to get back to the firmware 2.50? Will Garmin allow you to download this? Kinda funny, I was entering some UTM locals in, and when I mapped it, I was somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean!! lol Thanks
  8. Does Garmin offer any Topo Maps for Canada? If not, are there outside vendors that have these maps that I can upload to my Garmin Legend? I find the MapSource fine, but definately not precise as the Topo maps. Thanks
  9. Mine deleted all my information too. Including uploaded maps.
  10. Thanks for your replies, much appreciated. You answered another question I had When I locked a position, I had decent accuracy, and I only had 10 satellites listed in my unit. I guess when WAAS is enabled it will only look at 10? instead of the normal 12. I will click on the search button immediately. Thanks again.
  11. With WAAS enabled, what is the average accuracy you get with you Legend (in meters). When you search for caches, is the accuracy out a great deal? compared to what the coords were listed? The reason I'm asking is that I have been testing my unit on trails (open trails), with trees on either side, and the accuracy will fluctuate from 11 meters all the way to 30 meters? Dpes your unit do the same thing? Will I have a little trouble finding a cache if I'm out that much? Thanks for your input.
  12. I don't know if any is still following this thread, but I have seen the SporTrak Map at Best Buy on Britannia/Mavis for $249.00.
  13. I have this CD/Package for sale. It comes with original box/bar code and manuals. I bought this as I was going to purchase a Magellan SporTrak Map, but went with a Garmin instead. If you have purchased a Magellan unit, and have the bar code for it, you will receive a $50 US rebate. I'm looking at getting $75.00 Canadian for this software. I'm located near Toronto, Ontario and can ship if needed. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at talonawd912000@yahoo.com Thanks!
  14. Great info!! Thanks for your responses. Can't wait to get the eTrex Legend going.
  15. Thanks for the quick responses!! I'm going to search for my first cache this weekend. If successful, and I don't get myself lost, I'll hide my first cache as well. Thanks again.
  16. I've searched around my region, and there appears to be many caches setup. My question is: Even though the cache was listed 9 months ago, in most cases, are the caches still there? Is the "Not Available" list accurate? Thanks, Rob
