I seem to recall reading somewhere when i first started doinig caching that "they" didnt want you to leave money or food etc as cache items....?

Hmmmmm..."SWAG"..... My understanding...and I could be wrong...i was once before ...is that Swag is originally an Australian term... not that I am standing up for Australians... perish the thought! No self respecting Kiwi(New Zealander) would. A swag is a bedroll. A Swagman is like a hobo that carries his bedroll (swag) with him. Hence the term to "pack your swag" and leave or songs like "Once a jolly Swagman"....an old Aussie folk song. Swag, now, in Australia, is a brand name of a type of bed roll..which I hasten to add...if you're ever over there and find yourself in a camping/outdoor type shop get yourself one..they are the best piece of camping equipment I have ever bought! Just thought it was interesting how words seem to evolve as they move around and get used in different parts the world!

How do you know if the area is tick infested??? As for snakes...well...i dont like 'em much..but as you say...aussie kinda prepared me for them...had a run in with a rattler last month..but thats another story...lol

I'm suffering here though...just started to get used to the humidity...and it goes and gets all cold on me...lol I havnt done a cold winter like this since i was last in the U.S....about 4 yrs ago. I have cached a little in Australia when I lived there but am now living in North Carolina and about to get back into it here....any do's and don'ts i need to know about?...(apart from driving on the "wrong" side of the road...
