  1. Congratulations! Always was a pleasure caching with you. I remember well the day you hit 500.
  2. Congratulations! This is a milestone that I would loved to have been at. Great going, my friends.
  3. My sincerest condolences to you and those in your family for your loss.
  4. Congratulations! You're still moving right along...briskly.
  5. Congratulations to you, my friends, a great caching couple.
  6. After receiving a New Year's greeting from Mark, I checked on his latest logged cache.
  7. City Select v7 was (is) a better design for those with the previous, pre-X, versions of Garmin. The sectors are tiny, and allowed the small memory available to be well utilized. Additionally, v8 is slightly more updated. Metroguide will auto route on your computer, but is geared more toward non auto-routing GPSr units. I personally started out with v5, then went to v7 on 60CS, and now v8NT (compressed version of v8) on 60CSx. Your unit will also support the NT version, if you want to load massive areas into your unit. I've noticed a slight lag in speed on the NT, though.
  8. It sounds like you'll be wanting Garmin's CNv8 to cover your auto routing...this is also a good base for all your general needs. You, also, may want to add a topo. The two main types are Garmin's US Topo, and the Garmin National Parks Topo. The National Parks topo is very detailed, but may not cover all the area you may need. Included in the National Parks-Central. For additional items you already mentioned the card...I'd go with at least the 1GB. Additionally, get a good case or a screen protector (ShieldZone). I would definitely recommend getting GSAK for your loading needs in addition to the Premier membership.
  9. Make sure that your Micro SD card is secure and locked in. If it's loose, at all, the system will revert to the basemap.
  10. Hey Quoddy, you got a good resource for this type of sleeve? I googled but couldn't seem to find anything along that line. Sure do, John. Try EMS, that's where I got mine.
  11. You might consider using vinyl map protector sleeves sold at most outdoor and some marine stores. I have two sizes, one full sheet size and one half sheet size (this size gets a lot of use as I can just turn it over to see the rest of the page). Saves buying specialized paper.
  12. Congratulations! I remember well meeting you at "Ice Cream Cone 'Jimmies'" on November 15th, 2003.

Got my 4 Monday. The two-toned look especially great.
  14. Thanks, Brian...watching that started my day off really great! It did make me wish that I'd been with this group that I'd spent so many days on the trail with, though.
  15. Thanks...that worked, although I still don't quite understand why every other piece of info in the avitar, except the home location, changed before.
  16. Although I've changed my home location at every conceiveable location on my profile (numerous times), it continues to show my previous location. Rather than just give up trying, I decided to ask where my error is.
  17. Congratulations to my good friends Brian and Deb. Watch out! I became addicted to Kevin's caches for milestones at around the same point.
  18. Yes it does slide into the Bean Bag mount. It also comes with another base which fixes directly to the dash with adhesive pads....I found that I liked the Bean Bag better since I got almost no vibration from my truck using that method. If you have a very smooth riding car, you may like the adhevie idea.
  19. If you have the v8NT software and downloaded it only to your i2, you can also download it to the CSx. You are allowed two downloads of the software to units which use that version.
  20. The only real decision you need to make is whether you want v8 or v8NT (compressed)... for most people v7 just uses far too many segments for "x" models, especially using the large capacity micro SD card. For your initial software I believe that you should buy the full version and establish a customer code. In order to acquire future (reduced price) upgrades you'll need that, trying to bypass it will probably prove to be "false economy" in the long run.
