  1. Yes its in the car, but its parked in the shade, windows down. It doesn't get too hot, although I suspect it is something like that that is causing it.
  2. If I leave mine in the auto mount for the day powered up, sometimes when I return to my car, it has switched on its own from automotive view to track up view. If i hit the X then hit map again its corrected, but if I power down at that point and restart it it stays in track up view and I must manually make the change again in settings. A little quirk that is hard to repeat.
  3. Find a close by cache that is still active and that was active at that time. Scroll back to the approximate date. Look at the finders from around that time frame, then scroll through their finds looking at archived ones near their find of your reference cache. Its even easier if the cacher is no longer around, less to scroll through.
  4. I have sent you an email. I am willing to try to fix it for you.
  5. I usually pick up a small twig and burn the end with my lighter, makes for a pretty decent pencil.
  6. All newer Garmins are the same. Just mark waypoint, edit location, done. Mark waypoint Save and edit Change Location Edit and hit the check mark You are done, repeat as necessary.
  7. I agree with Socal Zuki ^ Those preloaded caches are of little to no value anyway, they are just there to really show you an example of how it works. It is stale, outdated data one second after it was created. Load your own caches, fresh new data, ones you actually will seek.
  8. Should be just as easy assuming you have a way to extract the needed files from the update archives, a winrar/winzip equivalent for a mac. I dont think you can run the 1.7 update though without a PC, however I am not sure it is even needed. Just be wary of managing the .trashes folder so as to not run out of space on the gps.
  9. Just put a zero in the last position, it's allowing higher precision than is required.
  10. As stated above there are atleast a dozen apps that can read your PQ's. https://play.google.com/store/search?q=geocaching&c=apps
  11. The short answer is that it is not possible. The long answer is...... with a bunch hacks it can be done. It would need to be jailbroken, and a usb host adapter would need to be purchased or fabricated, then you would need to copy using a file explorer type app.
  12. I know, but I haven't found PQs to help me much . I would love a simple, easy way of doing it that doesn't take so much effort. Next to zero effort. While looking at the map, fill the map screen with the area you desire. Then on the left click the text that says save as pocket query. This will pop you to the PQ page with the area selected by coords and the appropriate radius. Just check the applicable filters (like "I haven't found yet" and "is active") and you are done. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
  13. Glad it worked for you! Are you looking to have the displayed find count correct or just to have the cache icons correct? If you reload a pq with one that has your finds included, they should be marked as such. This will not fix the displayed find count though, but I see little value in that number. I will look into where that info is stored if I get some time. If you look at this thread --> http://www.exploristforum.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=62&func=view&catid=37&id=1214 there may be a solution for you.
  14. If you have already found the cache it will not show up in the geocache list, just select the "show found" option and it should be in that list. You may then see the description, hint etc and be able to navigate to it.
  15. The OR 450 cannot display 8000, if you have that many loaded, some are culled. 5000 is the max, so its best to load just under that amount.
  16. It shouldn't matter that the cache is archived, just log a retrieve using the tracking code. You could also try the "grabbed from somewhere else" log option.
  17. Yes mapsource will send them as waypoints. You dont need any extra software, just unzip your pq and drop the gpx files in the garmin/gpx/ folder.
  18. See if you can run a new query of the area without picking a day to run, and then using the preview function, look through the list and see if those same ones come up in the new query. If they don't it may be just as simple as replacing your old query with the new one, but if they still show up, it may be time to file a bug report.
  19. Are you sure they are included in your PQ and not just showing up on your gps for some other reason?
  20. There has been a couple around here that many enjoyed. I did not attend but you may want to contact the CO's if you want more details. http://coord.info/GC1W0XJ http://coord.info/GC2AKXA
  21. I think you'll find www.gpscity.ca has good prices. Or www.gpscity.com if you are usa.
  22. Or just change your google earth settings to display it in the format you want.
  23. You can just drag and drop the PQ's in the /geocaches/ folder of the device or use Vantagepoint linky----> http://www.magellangps.com/Maps/VantagePoint_Software/VantagePoint
  24. Similar to the issue I reported with the "#" symbol. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=297104
  25. I am not sure if this is a known issue, but when I post to twitter after a log it doesn't display what it says it will if there is a "#" (hashtag) in the title. Ex: Today I found All Canadian in the Park # 2 http://coord.info/GC3MAXY The post to twitter box said it would tweet " savant9 found All Canadian in the Park # 2 (traditional cache)" http://coord.info/GC3MAXY will be added to this tweet. These characters have already been counted. What it did post was "savant9 found All Canadian in the Park" and that is it, nothing after or including the # Of course when I then tried to log the next one in the series, which was #1, the twitter box replied Failing because apparently I had already tweeted that same truncated version. Just a heads up. I guess one can manually remove the # from the text if they were aware of the issue in advance.
