  1. Fill it nearly full of concrete and put it anywhere you want. They will not carry it off if it's that heavy. Seriously though if you can put it somewhere on private property or close to a business and do put concrete in it. I have one bigger than that just setting in a bunch of Cedar trees that is the #2 favorite cache in the whole state of Missouri. It's never been bothered. It is Jolly Green Giant GC!MDCE

  2. If you hide a cache that a newbe would have a very hard time finding, but to an experienced cacher it would be found in just a minute or two. Would you rate it maybe a 3 or 3 1/2 for the newbe or 1 or 1 1/2 for the experienced cacher? Or somewhere in between?

  4. GSAK has an export option. On my version it has Tomtom POI at the very bottom of the list ("File", "export", Tomtom POI file"). Make sure you direct the download to the map file (in my case it is USA Canada). It works like a charm and I download about 3,000 updated caches a week. I'm not sure what the limit is, but I haven't hit it yet!

    Good luck!

    Cache on!

I appreciate your help but I'm still stumped. I ran Pocket Query and pulled it up in GSACK and went to the "export to TomTom" and can't figure what to do next. Here is the window that comes up when I click "export to TomTom" I'm just not very good at this stuff. Where do I go from here? Thanks a bunch...Lacomo Edit to add: Got it figured out Thanks all.[/size]

  5. I just purchased a TomTom 720 and would like to add geocache waypoints on it. I don't want to take it out of my vehicle to go to the cache I just want it to get me close and then I will use my Garmin Venture CX to find the cache. Can I load sonething like a hundred waypoints at a time using a Pocket Querie? If so how do I do it? I use GSAK for my handheld GPSr.

  6. Yep, you're hooked. See below, it's incurable.

    Main Entry:

in·cur·able Listen to the pronunciation of incurable

    Pronunciation:

    \(ˌ)in-ˈkyu̇r-ə-bəl\

    Function:

    adjective

    Etymology:

Middle English, from Anglo-French or Late Latin; Anglo-French, from Late Latin incurabilis, from Latin in- + curabilis curable

    Date:

    14th century

: not curable <an incurable disease> ; broadly : not likely to be changed or corrected <incurable optimism>

  7. I need to relocate one of my caches, I want to keep it within a couple hundred feet of where I have it but didn't realize it was on private land where it is. Can I just update the coordinates on the log entry, I don't want people to wonder onto private land. :(

Yes you can move it and update the coordinates. You can only move it 528 ft or less. If you would need to move one more than 528 feet you would have to go threw your reviewer.

  8. I don't worry about snakes, and I sure wouldn't let them stop me from hiding a cache. You leave them alone and they will leave you alone. I have been bitten by snakes several times but never by a poison one. It has always been when I was handling them. Never hurt much more than just a pinch. I think I have had them draw blood a little bit but I've had briers and thorns draw a little blood many times.

  9. I have signed up for the service, but dislike it VERY much. New caches pop up all the time, but I receive the alerts maybe 1 in 20 times.

Bergie Bunch, I have been signed up for instant notifications for over a year and as far as I know I have never missed getting one. Please go over your settings for your notifications.

Make sure you have all the notifications set for all the different types of caches. If you only have a notification set for a Traditional Cache, and a Multi-cache is published, you will not get a notification for the Multi-cache.

Another thing. When you set up a notification for a certain kind of cache be sure you have the correct millage set for that kind of cache. If you tell it to notify you for all the caches within 10 miles of your point of origin for

your subscription? (like your home coordsnances) and a new cache is published 20 miles from your point of origin you will not get a notification. Hope this helps.

  11. The only downside to this particular unit is the rubber lining along the outside of the unit. Mine started coming off after about 6 months. I have a very low tech fix which has worked (tight elastic around the unit). Beyond that minor issue, I definitely recommend it especially if you can get it at a good price.

Sorry for getting off topic but ^Zor^ if you call or email Garmin they will send you a new band and everything you need to fix your GPSr. They did me for mt Garmin Etrix Venture CX and it was over a year old.

    edit to fix typo

  12. Yes the area is up for grabs and you can put a new cache there. One of my caches is where an old cache had been that was muggled. The owner hadn't made an attempt to replace it so I emailed them and ask if they needed help replaceing it, or if they would archive it so I could place one there. They lived 50 miles away and were getting out of caching and were glad to archive it. I put a cache there 2 days later.
